Cylindrical Or Conical Stirrer Or Element Patents (Class 366/305)
  • Patent number: 4455092
Abstract: A mixing apparatus has a housing containing a pair of apertured stators permitting flow therethrough respectively in different directions, and a bladed rotor having first and second rotor blades each cooperating with a respective stator. Rotation of the rotor blades forces material to be mixed through the stators and, because of the arrangement of the rotor blades relative to the stator apertures, produces a shearing action on the material in two different non-parallel planes.

  • Patent number: 4416548
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for continuously mixing fluid processing media with pulp suspensions are disclosed. The method includes supplying pulp suspensions to the central portion of the substantially planar radial face of a cylindrical rotor, feeding a fluid processing medium to the pulp suspension as it approaches the rotor face, forming an annular gap at the axial outer surface of the rotor, so that the rapid rotation of the rotor causes the pulp suspension and fluid processing medium to flow radially outward along the planar face and to pass axially through the annular gap, and effecting turbulence between the pulp suspension and the fluid processing medium at the entrance to that gap.

  • Patent number: 4386855
Abstract: Apparatus for mixing viscous, curable liquid materials in which the compots to be mixed are fed at high pressure (up to 5000 psi) into the central longitudinal chamber of a mixing head. The inlet ducts are on opposing sides of the chamber and displaced longitudinally so that there is no mixing of the components in the upstream end of the chamber where the drive shaft enters the mixing head. The two components are forced from the chamber through rotating apertures into a rotating inner tube (rotating at up to 500 RPM). The end of the rotating inner tube is closed so that the high pressure forces the material through a multiplicity of apertures in the wall of the tube. The rotating tube is enclosed in a concentric stationary tube having a multiplicity of apertures in its walls. The material is forced through the second group of apertures into an annular outer chamber which leads to the output of the mixer.

  • Patent number: 4198383
Abstract: Method and apparatus for continuous preparation of an acrylonitrilebutadienestyrene copolymer comprises on-stream mounted: a prepolymerization reactor, a polymerization reactor, a reactor for the final polymerization and an apparatus for the removal of the non-polymerized monomers from the reaction mass. The polymerization reactor contains a stirring means which has a tube fixedly mounted coaxially with a shell and a mixing member disposed inside the tube. The stirring member is embodied in the form of a closed cylinder. At least one slot is provided in the tube wall. This slot is extending over the entire length of the tube. In the reactor there is also a partition positioned between the reactor shell wall and the stirring member. The partition is passing through the middle of the slot and intended for division of the reactor shell cavity into a suction zone and a pumping zone.
