Paint Mixer Patents (Class 366/605)
  • Patent number: 4265548
Abstract: A cage of spaced rods is proportioned to fit a gallon can of paint. A stand of formed rod supports the cage and an electrical, gear-reduction motor. The motor is connected to the cage, and a can of paint to be mixed within the cage is rotated about its axis by operation of the motor. A rotational speed of 25 to 30 revolutions per minute is fast enough to mix paint in a moderate amount of time with this inexpensive mixer.

  • Patent number: 4263003
Abstract: A method is disclosed for mixing liquids in closed containers wherein the container is partially filled with a liquid such as paint and is moved over a closed path in a vertical plane such that the vertical velocity component of fluid movement causes a force component in the fluid within the container to displace the air therein away from the top of the container.

  • Patent number: 4225248
Abstract: A stirring device for mixing the contents of containers or vessles, particularly for paints; dyes and the like, comprising at least one first magnetic mechanism enclosed within a fixed seat or housing and which is rotatably driven, and a second magnetic mechanism; cooperating with each corresponding first magnetic mechanism and associated with a stirring shaft of a container or vessel bearing on the closing or covering plate of said seat or housing, to transfer the rotation of the first magnetic means to the second magnetic mechanism and stirring shaft, at the same time holding the container pressed against said closing or covering plate of the seat or housing, and accordingly at a fixed condition. A metering device is also provided for metering the different contents of a mixture.

  • Patent number: 4173418
Abstract: Apparatus for mixing liquids such as paints in closed containers, including a motor drive unit coupled to a drive pulley to produce a constant rotational speed. The drive pulley is connected via an eccentric crank to a shaker plate which has mounted therein a container housing, the shaker plate being also supported from at least two other points by similar crank couplings so as to produce a circular oscillating motion when the drive motor is actuated.

  • Patent number: 4146334
Abstract: The pneumatically operated apparatus includes a transparent, calibrated paint container to facilitate measuring of the required proportions of color and solvents. A vertically displaceable and rotatable member extends through and seals an opening in the bottom of the container. The member has a hollow body forming a paint passage. An agitator is sealingly mounted on the end thereof extending through the opening and into the container, the other end being opened. An aperture is provided in the wall of the member spaced a short distance from the agitator. A friction surface is provided for connecting a pneumatically operated drive to the member to rotate same.

  • Patent number: 4134689
Abstract: There is provided a mixing apparatus wherein liquid or pulverous material is mixed by shaking a can containing the material to be mixed. An inner frame of the apparatus is provided with a table for the can and a means for clamping the can to the table. The inner frame is arranged for vibration relative to an outer frame. An electric motor is mounted on the outer frame and drives by way of a transmission system the clamping means, which comprises a screw/nut assembly. Two parallel links couple the inner frame to the outer frame and the motor power is transferred.A pulley/belt assembly transfers the motor power to that part of the transmission system which is mounted on the inner frame. The pulleys of this assembly are substantially coaxial with the pivot axes of the links.A remote control system is provided for automatic sequential and controlled operation of the apparatus functions during a mixing cycle, i.e. clamping shaking and releasing a can.

  • Patent number: 4054272
Abstract: A blender for mixing slurries, suspensions and the like that include particulate solids in a liquid characterized by a plurality of blades disposed along a bottom mixing zone of an elongate central shaft, the blades being fixedly connected with the shaft and extending radially outwardly therefrom and balanced to minimize rotational vibration; the blades all having a twist therealong. A bottom blade is twisted so that the outer radial portions have a critical angle .alpha. with the trailing edge tilted upwardly for moving the solids radially outwardly and upwardly. A second blade at the top of the mixing zone is bent downwardly and also has a twist, the angles of bend and twist being such that the solids are forced radially inwardly and downwardly to a plurality of mixing blades therebelow and splash is prevented. An intermediate mixing blade is provided with critical angles on the outer radial portions for mixing and forcing the solids downwardly.
