Patent number: 7014356Abstract: A chronograph has a clock movement for driving a second chronograph hand and a minute chronograph hand and a control apparatus for stopping the second chronograph hand and the minute chronograph hand and for setting in motion a rattrapante mechanism of a second rattrapante indicator and a minute rattrapante indicator. The rattrapante mechanism has a common trip element for starting and stopping the second rattrapante indicator and the minute rattrapante indicator. A catch is triggered by the common trip element for engaging or disengaging from a ratchet recess of a plurality of ratchet recesses that are distributed evenly on the periphery of a minute rattrapante wheel. The minute rattrapante wheel is connected to a minute rattrapante shaft of a minute rattrapante indicator. The number of ratchet recesses on the minute rattrapante wheel corresponds to the number of increments of the minute chronograph hand per revolution.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2005Date of Patent: March 21, 2006Assignee: Lange Uhren GmbHInventors: Tino Bobe, Jens Schneider

Patent number: 5122995Abstract: A fly-back chronograph provided with a stop-start control for the fly-back hand is provided. The control does not require careful and frequent adjustment and avoids premature wear of the fly-back wheel parts. The control device has fly-back pincer, a fly-back wheel disposed between the free extremities of the two branches of the said pincer, two fixed reaction members against which a connecting member between the two branches of the pincer bear and deformation means creating a force acting against the said reaction members on the said portion of the connecting member in order to deform it.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1991Date of Patent: June 16, 1992Assignee: ETA SA Fabriques d'EbauchesInventor: Cyril Vuilleumier

Patent number: 4537514Abstract: An electronic analog timepiece provides for elapsed and intermediate split time measurement with hands indicating fractions of a second, seconds and minutes. Hands do not move except by a user stop or split command. Then the hands rapidly move to positions indicating elapsed or split time. Alternatively, conventional continuous indications are provided except when the internal battery nears depletion, or intermittent operation of the hand indicating fractional seconds provides warning that the battery nears depletion. A wristwatch type analog display stopwatch using a plurality of step motors to drive the hands is produced.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 1983Date of Patent: August 27, 1985Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Suwa SeikoshaInventor: Tatsuo Moriya

Patent number: 4396296Abstract: A stop watch (FIG. 2) for use by runners. A strap is provided and the strap bars 56,57 are disposed at a high level while the back 61 of the watch case is concave or dished. Push-buttons or control pins 17, 18, and 19, for starting, stopping, and resetting the watch, are disposed parallel to the axis of the watch and are actuated by pressing in the axial direction with the finger. These features accommodate strapping the watch to the hand so that the watch fits comfortably in the palm of the hand which is a convenient location when worn by runners.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1981Date of Patent: August 2, 1983Inventor: Michael F. Patent number: 4364669Abstract: The watch, as exemplified by FIG. 6, comprises a motor 9 which drives the hands of a timepiece mechanism and a motor 15 which advances those of a chronographic mechanism. When the timepiece mechanism is in operation, a counter 98 receives every six seconds a pulse which opens a gate 85 which passes a pulse of 32 Hz and causes the shaft of the motor 9 to advance one step. When the stopwatch mechanism is in operation, a counter 78 receives ten pulses per second; every ten pulses it sends a pulse to the motor 15 and drives the chronographic second hand. When the chronographic mechanism is stopped, this second hand shows the seconds of chronometric time, the supplementary tenths of seconds being stored in the counter 78. The state of this counter 78 is compared with the state of an UP-DOWN counter 86 which determines the position of the second hand of the timepiece mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 1981Date of Patent: December 21, 1982Assignee: Ebauches, S.A.Inventors: Marcel Thoenig, Jean-Pierre Wattenhofer

Patent number: 4270197Abstract: An analog display electronic stopwatch including at least one first hand driven during elapsed time measurement and a secondary hand driven after completion of elapsed time measurement is provided. The first hand indicates an arbitrary unit of elapsed time which is displayed during time measurement and the secondary hand indicates time in a fraction of the arbitrary time units, the secondary hand driven after elapsed time measurement. The stopwatch includes elapsed time measurement circuitry including a memory counter circuit for counting elapsed time in 1/100ths of a second and for providing a signal for driving a second and minute hand during time measurement, a secondary counter for providing a signal for driving a 1/100th second hand after completion of time measurement. The 1/100th second hand is driven to indicate the elapsed time under one second as determined by a coincidence detector for comparing the output of the secondary counter signal and that of the memory counter.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1979Date of Patent: May 26, 1981Assignee: Kubushiki Kaisha Suwa SeikoshaInventor: Yoshiki Minowa
