Level Detecting Using Reference Signal Patents (Class 369/124.15)
  • Patent number: 10509104
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for synchronization of multiple semiconductor dies are provided herein. In certain implementations, a reference clock signal is distributed to two or more semiconductor dies that each include at least one data converter. The two or more dies include a master die that generates a data converter synchronization signal, and at least one slave die that processes the data converter synchronization signal to align timing of data conversion operations across the dies, for instance, to obtain a high degree of timing coherence for digital sampling. In certain implementations, the dies correspond to radar chips of a radar system, and the data converter synchronization signal corresponds to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) synchronization signal. Additionally, the master radar chip generates a ramp synchronization signal to synchronize transmission sequencing across the radar chips and/or to provide phase alignment of ADC clock signals.

Abstract: In a system of detecting an interference light with a light not irradiated onto an optical disc to increase the S/N ratio, it is difficult to stably acquire a reproduced signal with a simple configuration. Since the recording density is not improved, an improvement in transfer rate is difficult. In an optical information recording/reproducing apparatus where two optical beams face each other and are focused at the same place of a recording medium to record a standing wave developed by interference of the two optical beams, a phase difference of the two optical beams is modulated in a multiple stage and recorded. During reproduction, an interference light of a reproduced light from the recording medium and another reproduction reference light is detected as a reproduced signal, and a phase servo control stabilizing the phase of interference during reproduction by using a low frequency component of the reproduced signal is conducted.

Abstract: An approach is described that allows an optical disc drive to accurately verify the power level of irradiation beam power levels associated a write strategy used in high speed, high density optical disc media formats using a front monitor diode with a relatively slow rise time and/or relative slow fall time compared to the clock cycle speed of the write strategy signal. A portion of encoded data to be written to an optical disc media may be overwritten to include a predetermined data pattern. During write strategy processing of the data, the predetermined data pattern is replaced with a constant write strategy power level. The constant write strategy output placed within the write strategy signal may control the optical disc drive laser to emit a constant irradiation beam for a duration sufficiently long to allow the front monitor diode to obtain an accurate measure of the irradiation beam power level.

  • Patent number: 7260050
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting physical marks from a wobble signal includes a matching value operation unit, a threshold value generator and a physical mark indicator. A wobble signal is converted into a matched signal by the matching value operation unit according to the waveform difference between a normal clock signal or a specific matching reference signal and itself, wherein the matching reference signal needs to highlight the existed physical mark. The physical mark indicator designates a threshold value that depends on the status of the wobble signal, and compares the matched signal with the threshold value to output a physical mark indication signal. The threshold value is selected from at least two different default values. Furthermore, a decoder is employed to convert the physical mark indication signal into wobble data with physical address information.

  • Patent number: 7224647
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer readable medium controlling a servo of a recording and/or reproducing apparatus, using a detected header field signal. An optical recording and/or reproducing apparatus includes a playback signal detector that detects a playback signal and a track error signal from information recorded on a DVD-RAM disc, as picked up by a pickup. A header field signal detecting circuit detects a header field signal by comparing a sampled playback signal for a signal representing the presence of a header field with a reference level and holding the comparison result for a predetermined period of time to generate the header field signal. Accordingly, a tracking servo can be stably controlled by using a tracking driving signal that is not affected by the presence of a header. Also, in a seek mode, the track error signal can be held based on the header field signal to generate a track count signal that is similarly not affected by the header.
