  • Patent number: 11294544
Abstract: A method for controlling media presentation is disclosed. In some implementations, the method is performed at a first electronic device having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors. The first electronic device displays a webpage including a control element, such as a “play” button. The webpage originates from a webpage server. The first electronic device receives a user input, such as a mouse click, selecting the control element. In response to the user input, the first electronic device sends a media control request to a media server. The media control request is configured to cause the media server to control presentation of first media content at a second electronic device associated with the user, wherein the second electronic device is different from the first electronic device, and wherein the media server is different from the webpage server.

Abstract: A system for setting parameters within a first vehicle for a first user of the first vehicle is provided and includes a memory, transceiver, and a processing module. The memory stores normalized parameters, which are specific to the first user. Each of the normalized parameters is a parameter of the vehicle. The transceiver receives the normalized parameters from a mobile device of the first user, a server in a cloud-based network, or a portable memory device. The processing module: determines whether the first user is authorized for parameter translation services; if the first user is authorized for parameter translation services, translates the normalized parameters to resultant parameters; generates parameter recommendations based on the resultant parameters; presents the parameter recommendations to the first user; and adjusts current parameters of the first vehicle based on the resultant parameters and a received response from the first user with regards to the parameter recommendations.

  • Patent number: 10275135
Abstract: Techniques for managing a playlist in a multimedia system are disclosed. According to one aspect of the techniques, the playlist is structured to be able to include as many items as desired. To facilitate the manageability of such playlist, the playlist is built with a plurality of items. Each of the items is associated with metadata that includes information related to, for example, artist, album, genre, composer, and track number. The metadata for each item may be parsed, updated or logically operated upon to facilitate the management of the playlist. In another embodiment, each of the items is either a single item or a group item. A single item contains metadata of a corresponding source. A group item contains metadata of accessing other constituent items, which again may be single items or group items. As a result, the playlist can accommodate as many items as desired in a limited memory space without compromising the manageability of the playlist.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a recording/reproducing method, a recording/reproducing apparatus and a recording medium. In the conventional art, there is no method of distinguishing a program recorded on an RE layer by an application on a ROM layer, from a program recorded on the RE layer by a user, on a hybrid disc. The present invention solves a problem as described above by separating a playlist for recording performed by the application on the ROM layer, from a playlist for recording performed by the user, and retaining information indicating a subject which has performed the recording.

Abstract: A copy-protected compact disc includes, within a single session, a table of contents (TOC) and a Video CD index (VI). Each track (T) is prefaced by unrecoverable data (UD) at a track start position (ATOC) indicated by the table of contents (TOC). However, the Video CD index (VI) indicates the actual position (AP) of the tracks. DVD players use the Video CD index (VI) to locate the tracks, while the CD-ROM drives use the table of contents (TOC) and read the unrecoverable data (UD), which prevents them from reading the subsequent track (T). The unrecoverable data (UD) may be prefaced by data pointers (DP) which cause the CD-ROM drive to load a player program in response to the error condition. The player program can be used to play the tracks (T), but restricts copying. Subchannel data (P; DX) causes audio CD players to ignore the Video CD index (VI) and the unrecoverable data (UD), and to play the tracks (T) at their actual start positions (AP).
