Artificial Line Patents (Class 370/283)
  • Patent number: 11418355
Abstract: A power sourcing equipment includes a control logic circuit and current source circuits that are coupled to a powered device via first and second wire pairs of a network cable respectively. The control logic circuit controls one of the current source circuits to drain a current from the powered device via the first wire pair during a first interval, to detect a first voltage of the first wire pair and a second voltage of the second wire pair, and controls the current source circuits to respectively drain currents from the powered device via the first and the second wire pairs during a second interval, to detect a third voltage of the first wire pair and a fourth voltage of the second wire pair, and determines whether the powered device is a single signature or a dual signature according to the first to the fourth voltages.

  • Patent number: 8964605
Abstract: A transceiver comprising a plurality of components coupled to one another to form a transmit path and a receive path and a balun. The balun comprises a primary inductor, two pairs of secondary inductors and switched impedance modules. The primary inductor is configured to couple to the communications medium at an unbalanced port end. The two pairs of secondary inductors are each configured to electromagnetically couple with the primary inductor and each providing an associated one of two balanced, ports coupled to components forming the transmit path and the receive path. The switched impedance modules are each coupled to a corresponding one of the two pairs of secondary inductors to switchably split into a virtual open, one pair of secondary inductors associated with an inactive, one of the balanced ports and to couple another pair of secondary inductors associated with an active one of the balanced ports either to each other or to a virtual ground.

  • Patent number: 8340002
Abstract: An improved method and a communication means node implementing the method for load control in connection with a multimedia service transmission intended for multiple receivers over a wireless network are disclosed. The receivers in the wireless network are able to respond to requests communicated from an ordering entity by feeding back responses to a management entity in said wireless network. The feedback of these responses uses a different communication means, separate from said wireless network. This different communication means has limited communication resources. A transmission load caused in said different communication means by said feedback of said responses is according to the invention controlled by the different communication means itself.

  • Patent number: 8077474
Abstract: A variable equalizer apparatus for forward and/or reverse equalizers in an amplifier. The system can include a structure to allow continuous contact of the signal flow as an equalizer is removed; jumpers with fixed resistors and associated capacitors and inductors to produce a variable range over many different values; and/or variable resistance potentiometers with fixed resistors and associated capacitors and inductors to produce a variable range over separate value equalizers.

  • Patent number: 7054279
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for optimizing signal transformation from a twisted pair transmission line to a combination transmitter and receiver for a frame-based communications network, the transmitter having a transmit output pair port for transmitting signals onto the frame-based communications network over the twisted pair transmission line, the receiver having a receive input pair port for receiving signals from the frame-based communications network over the twisted pair transmission line. A transformer is coupled between the twisted pair transmission line and each of the transmit output pair port and the receive input pair port. The transformer has a coil across the twisted pair, a transmit coil across the transmit output pair port, and a receive coil across the receive input pair port. A transfer ratio between the transmit coil and the coil across the twisted pair is optimized for transmitting signals.

  • Patent number: 7035293
Abstract: A system and method for detecting and removing tones from an incoming communications channel that may also carry other signals such as, for example, voice is disclosed which includes pre-detecting tones in a communication signal, processing the communication signal to invalidate the tones in response to the tone pre-detection, forwarding the processed communication signal across a network, validating the tone and forwarding tone-on signals across the network in response to the validation.

  • Patent number: 5970096
Abstract: In a synchronous serial transfer apparatus, the number of lines which are necessary for a serial transfer is reduced, and even when a master/slave operation is to be performed, a serial transfer is possible between any communication apparatuses without using communication apparatuses which have different structures from each other such as a master and slave apparatuses and without using a master apparatus. Communication apparatuses (TR1 to TR3) are connected parallel to each other by one communication line (TRL). A potential fixing apparatus (VC), which fixes a potential on the communication line (TRL) to "High" or "Low" when outputs from all communication apparatuses (TR1 to TR3) are in a "High-Z" state, is connected to the communication line (TRL).
