  • Patent number: 9426078
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus for routing are provided in which a connection track comprising a plurality of network or transport layer packets, received by a router, is identified by examination of header fields of one or more first packets in the plurality of packets. One or more quality of service (QoS) parameters is associated with the connection track by determining whether the track encodes a data type by (i) an identification of a predetermined application protocol used within the one or more first packets and/or (ii) a comparison of a payload of one or more packets in the plurality of packets to known data type formats. A first QoS parameter is set to a first value in a first value range when the connection track contains the first data type. The connection track is routed through the router in accordance with the one or more QoS parameters assigned to the connection track.

  • Patent number: 9426522
Abstract: The disclosure relates to techniques for switching between channels of digital multimedia content. In particular, a decoding device decodes and renders to a display at least one frame of a segment of data prior to receiving the entire segment. In certain aspects, the decoding device may render one of the frames of the segment and freeze the rendered frame until the decoding device receives all of the frames of the segment. In other aspects, the decoding device may render frames of one or more segments at a reduced rendering rate until the receiving and rendering operations of decoding device are synchronized such that the rendering of the current segment occurs at substantially the same time as the receiving of the next segment. By rendering at least frame prior to receiving the entire segment the decoding device more quickly displays content to a user during a channel switching event.

Abstract: Transceiver node and method therein for enabling dynamic bandwidth assignment in bi-directional Time Division Duplexing (TDD) multicarrier communication over wire lines. The transceiver node is operable to be coupled to a plurality of loops, wherein each loop is terminated by a respective network terminal (NT). The method comprises collecting traffic reports from local and remote queues associated with uplink and downlink traffic on the plurality of loops, and determining an actual demand for upstream and downstream bandwidth, respectively, for each of the plurality of loops, based on the collected traffic reports. The method further comprises deriving an Upstream/Downstream (US/DS) frame partitioning based on the determined actual demand for upstream and downstream bandwidth, and providing an indication of the derived US/DS frame partitioning to the NTs. NTs are then scheduled in accordance with the derived partitioning.

  • Patent number: 9306866
Abstract: A method for performing aggregation at one or more layers starts with an AP placing at a first layer one or more received frames in a queue at the AP. When a transmit scheduler is ready to transmit an aggregated frame corresponding to the queue, the AP may iteratively select a plurality of frames selected from the one or more received frames, and aggregate at the first layer the plurality of frames into the aggregated frame. The number of frames included in an aggregated frame may be based on at least one of: a dynamically updated rate of transmission associated with a size of the frames, a class of the frames, a transmission opportunity value associated with the class of the frames and a total projected airtime for transmitting the aggregated frame. Other embodiments are also described.

  • Patent number: 9271289
Abstract: A switching control module can optimize time division duplexing operations of a distributed antenna system (“DAS”). The switching control module can include a measurement receiver and a processor. The measurement receiver can measure signal powers of downlink signals in a downlink path of the DAS. The processor can determine start times for downlink sub-frames transmitted via the downlink path based on downlink signal powers measured by the measurement receiver exceeding a threshold signal power. The processor can identify a clock setting that controls a timing of switching signals used for switching the DAS between an uplink mode and a downlink mode. The processor can statistically determine a switching time adjustment for the clock setting based on switching time differentials between the clock setting and the start times. The processor can update the clock setting based on the switching time adjustment.

  • Patent number: 9256740
Abstract: An event retrieval and analysis system compares counts of event data for a device to stored profile counts to determine if alerts should be triggered. Event data can be retrieved by a sensor. Rules for analyzing the event data can be retrieved based on the device. The event data is analyzed based on the rules to determine recordable events. Recordable events are organized into categories representing a type or severity of attack. Current event counts are calculated by summing the recordable events for each category. A normal profile is retrieved for the device and compared to the current event count. A percentage change trigger can be retrieved from a threshold matrix based on the current event count. The percentage increase of the current event count over the normal profile is calculated and compared to the percentage change trigger to determine if an alert is triggered by the analysis system.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for updating symbol information in a communication device with hardware such as a microcontroller are disclosed. The disclosed apparatus and methods employ waiting for the beginning of a symbol in a sample stream at a predetermined time. One or more programmed instructions are read at the beginning of the symbol, and then symbol information is updated based on the one or more programmable instructions and setting a time for a beginning of a next symbol. The programmed instructions consist of instruction code words that are executed by a dedicated microcontroller or similar hardware, which affords flexibility for updating symbol information, particularly for multimode communication devices operable across multiple communication technologies.

Abstract: Method and arrangement in a first base station for scheduling in a TDD wireless network, which wireless network comprises the first base station serving a user equipment, and a second base station. The method comprises detecting that the second base station uses a different TDD configuration, instructing the user equipment to provide a signal strength measurement report based on a signal received from the second base station, receiving the measurement report, and allocating resources to the user equipment based on the received measurement report. Thereby is allocation of resources in TTIs not having the same uplink-downlink direction in the first base station and the second base station respectively, is avoided for the user equipment, when the received signal strength measurement report indicates that such allocation is appropriate. Also, a method and arrangement in a user equipment for scheduling in a TDD wireless network is described.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate effectuating a random access procedure in a wireless communication environment. A random access preamble can be sent from an access terminal to a base station, and a random access response can be sent from the base station to the access terminal in response. The random access response can allocate resources to be utilized by the access terminal for a scheduled transmission (e.g., message 3, . . . ). Further, a plurality of Transmission Time Intervals (TTIs) can be bundled for the scheduled transmission. Moreover, a payload of the scheduled transmission can be transmitted to the base station from the access terminal within a common Transport Block (TB) using the bundled plurality of TTIs. According to an example, employment of TTI bundling can be controlled on a per network basis, per base station basis, or per access terminal basis.

Abstract: An antenna tuner unit (ATU) that includes a T/R switch integrated with a receive only tuner circuit that is made up of a relatively tiny tuner circuitry is provided. The integration of the T/R switch with the receive only tuner circuit uses a microelectronics fabrication technology like silicon-on-insulator (SOI) with minimum cascading stages. As a result, the ATU of the present invention avoids a relatively complicated and expensive technology like Micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS). The ATU of the present disclosure is applicable to fourth generation (4G) standards like long term evolution time division duplex (LTE-TDD) or for a receiver diversity system such as a multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system. The control of the receive only tuner circuit is accomplished via a relatively simple one-wire general input output (GPIO) thus allowing interface with most existing or future 4G transceiver products.

  • Patent number: 8780768
Abstract: In embodiments, user equipment (UE) is configured to acquire automatic gain control (AGC) of an analog RF front end by maintaining a plurality of M×N AGC loops in which the output of the power detector drives input of a gain state machine after a predetermined delay. Each of the loops corresponds to a different periodic set of tasks of (1/M) subframe in length. In each of the loops, the gain is determined by a power measurement taken ((M×N)+1) tasks ago. A synchronization signal, such as a Primary Synchronization Signal, occurs early in Time Division Duplex (TDD) subframes that follow selected downlink subframes. The periodicity of the selected subframes is N. This allows the UE to converge on proper AGC gain for downlink subframes through a relatively short search, such as a binary search. The UE can then decode the synchronization signal and acquire network timing.
