Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products to communicate using a synthetic Media Access Control (synMAC) addresses are provided. The method includes the step of receiving and storing a first message assigning a first synMAC address. The first synMAC address is distinct from a unique stored Media Access Control (MAC) address. A second message including a second synMAC address is received. The first synMAC address is compared to the stored second synMAC address. The second message is accepted and processed if the first synMAC address is equal to the second synMAC address. In another example, a first device assigns a common synthetic Media Access Control (synMAC) address to multiple devices. The first device then broadcasts a message including the common synMAC address to each of the devices.

  • Patent number: 8879553
Abstract: The distributed switch may include a plurality of chips (i.e., sub-switches) on a switch module. These sub-switches may receive from a computing device connected to a Tx/Rx port a multicast data frame (e.g., an Ethernet frame) that designates a plurality of different destinations. Instead of simply using one egress connection interface to forward the copies of the data frame to each of the destinations sequentially, the sub-switch may use a plurality of a connection interfaces to transfer copies of the multicast data frame simultaneously. The port that receives the multicast data frame can borrow the connection interfaces (and associated hardware such as buffers) assigned to these other ports to transmit copies of the multicast data frame simultaneously.

Abstract: Means and methodology for a telecommunication network are provided that allow using an IMEI of mobile terminal as destination or identification instead of the regular IMSI or MSISDN. This capability of the telecommunication network is provided by maintaining a set of coupled pairs of IMEI and IMSI/MSISDN. Operational messages in the telecommunication network having an IMEI address as destination or identification are translated by the appropriate IMSI or MSISDN depending on the message type, from a coupled pair having the same IMEI. Means is provided with a STP capable of maintaining the set of coupled pairs. Further several implementations are provided using the IMEI addressing capability.

Abstract: A network device receives a packet with a multicast nexthop identifier, and creates a mask that includes addresses of egress packet forwarding engines, of the network device, to which to provide the packet. The network device divides the mask into two portions, generates two copies of the packet, provides a first portion of the mask in a first copy of the packet, and provides a second portion of the mask in a second copy of the packet. The network device also forwards the first copy of the packet to an address of a first egress packet forwarding engine provided in the first portion of the mask, and forwards the second copy of the packet to an address of a second egress packet forwarding engine provided in the second portion of the mask.

Abstract: An MBMS providing apparatus and an MBMS providing method using the same in a cloud radio access network are provided. The MBMS providing apparatus includes a third layer into which a plurality of network layers providing an MBMS are integrated in the plurality of DUs, and a second layer into which a plurality of datalink layers providing the MBMS are integrated in the DUs. Therefore, the present invention integrates the layers that provide the MBMS in the plurality of DUs, and provide the MBMS by MBSFN synchronization area through the integrated layers. Accordingly, by performing the MBMS by MBSFN synchronization area through respective integrated layers, the present invention can prevent the occurrence of an unnecessary load, thus enhancing the performance of a communication network.

Abstract: When a determination is made that communication by an SM scheme is suitable, a setting unit performs switching from a communication level by an STC scheme to the communication level by the SM scheme, between the communication level at a first level of MCS by the space-time coding scheme and the communication level at a second level of MCS by the SM scheme. When a determination is made that communication by the SM scheme is unsuitable, the setting unit performs switching from the communication level by the STC scheme to the communication level by the spatial multiplexing scheme, between the communication level at a third level of MCS, which is higher than the first level, by the space-time coding scheme and a fourth level of the modulation scheme and the coding rate, which is higher than the second level, by the SM scheme.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods for transmitting information over a home coax network are provided. A method according to the invention for transmitting information over a home coax network preferably includes adding a multicast transmission mode to a system that previously only had unicast transmission mode and broadcast mode. The method preferably includes broadcasting multicast (“MC”) traffic. The MC traffic may be directed to a predetermined MC group. The MC traffic may be transmitted from an ingress node to a plurality of egress nodes. A portion of the plurality of egress nodes may belong to the MC group. Upon receipt by at least one of the egress nodes of the MC traffic, the method may further include using the at least one egress node to filter the received MC traffic to determine whether the MC traffic is directed to a group for which the egress node is a member.
