Toll Center Patents (Class 379/222)
  • Patent number: 5533111
Abstract: Access (or egress) charges payable by an IXC to a LEC, and payable by the subscriber to the LEC for originating or terminating calls and for associated vertical call control features, are reduced or eliminated by providing a virtual piped collection that "bypasses" and thus does not require the involvement of, a local service provider. The virtual piped connection exists between a call control platform (CCP) in the IXC network, and specialized customer premises equipment (CPE) located m the subscriber location. The specialized CPE is arranged to provide call control functions using normal out-of-band signaling in a conventional manner, and, after an initial call is conventionally set up to the CCP, to provide the same functions using specialized in-band signaling. A complementary signaling and control capability is provided in the CCP.

  • Patent number: 5327489
Abstract: A network monitor and associated control system is provided to monitor a toll network for customer signaling. A multi-tone signal processor and associated control is provided such that when signaling is detected, such signaling is validated against a provisioned list. A valid signal is reported to a central control of the network switch, which takes action in response to the signal.

  • Patent number: 5272748
Abstract: Enhanced speed calling is provided on a network basis for public access telephone stations such as coin telephones and wireless public Telepoint services stations. The system permits single digit access to voice recorded announcements regarding long distance dialing instruction and service provider identification information. The dialing of a common generic abbreviated code word triggers the delivery of a pre-established interexchange carrier recording identifying the presubscribed carrier to the user at the calling public access telephone station. The information card presently utilized at public access telephone stations, such as coin stations, is replaced with a generic card providing information to lead the caller to use the abbreviated code word to initiate identification of the presubscribed interexchange carrier for that public access telephone station.

  • Patent number: 5233647
Abstract: The systems consists of an intrinsic collaboration among a message concentrator unit, a center operating unit, several visual displays, printers, information storage devices including operating and management software, insuring that modular telephones and both validation and identification units and access units control together with regional billing centers and a validation and billing center, as well as terminals of collecting entities by interchanging diverse specific operating messages within the public modular telephone management system-the whole context and operation arisen from their performance.

  • Patent number: 4924510
Abstract: Method and apparatus for reducing call setup time for calls to Advanced 800 customers by eliminating one database query. (Toll charges for 800 calls are paid by the called customer.) In the prior art, a call to an Advanced 800 customer required accessing a Basic 800 database, then, using data obtained therefrom, accessing an Advanced 800 database. In accordance with this invention, a table of the most frequently called Advanced 800 numbers and the corresponding data normally obtained from the Basic 800 database is dynamically maintained in each roll switching system. When an 800 call is received at a toll switching system, the table is examined to see if the Advanced 800 service accessing data is stored therein. If so, the advanced 800 database is directly accessed without first accessing the Basic 800 database; if not, the call is processed as in the prior art, plus updating the table if the call is to an Advanced 800 customer.

  • Patent number: 4756018
Abstract: A multiple access communication system comprises a central station connected to an end office switching system and a remote station which serves N subscriber telephones through respective line interface circuits. The remote station provides concentration by switching N subscriber interface circuits to M (where M is smaller than N) trunk circuits which are connected through transmission facilities to M trunk circuits of the central station. The central station provides deconcentration by switching its M trunk circuits to end-office N subscriber line interface circuits. In response to a called subscriber line interface circuit answering an intraoffice call, a long distance loop connection is established throughout the system by way of the end office between remote station subscribers for charging purposes and the remote station identifies the terminal location of the called circuit. Each remote-station line circuit includes a tone detector.
