  • Patent number: 10261477
Abstract: In a method performed by a PoE system, a PSE provides data and operating voltage over Ethernet wires to a PD. Before the full PoE voltage is supplied, the PSE generates a low current signal received by the PD. A circuit in the PD, connected across its input terminals, has a characteristic analog response to the PSE signal corresponding to the PD's PoE requirements, such as whether the PD is a Type 1 or Type 2 PD. The circuit may be a certain value capacitor, zener diode, resistor, or other circuit. The PSE may generate a fixed current, fixed voltage, or time varying signal. Upon the PSE sensing the magnitude of the analog signal response at a particular time, the PSE associates the response with the PoE requirements of the PD. The PSE then applies the full PoE voltage in accordance with the PD's PoE requirements.

  • Patent number: 9736190
Abstract: In a communication system, a service centralization and continuity application server (SCC AS): receives a first SIP message for establishing an IMS centralized service session; receives early session media information; and sends a second SIP message carrying the early session media information to a media gateway control device. The early session media information is carried in the second SIP message in a form of regular session media information, thus the media gateway control device uses an existing circuit switched bearer to transmit early session media to a first user equipment. The existing circuit switched bearer is established under control of the media gateway control device for a session between the first user equipment and a third user equipment. The SCC AS receives an off-hook signal from the second user equipment, and sends the regular session media information to the media gateway control device.

  • Patent number: 7508930
Abstract: A method and apparatus detects a ground fault on a span-powered telecommunication wireline within a plurality of span-powered wireline segments, to respective ones of which DSL-Cs are coupled, so that a ground fault may be detected when power is delivered by the DSL-C over a respective wireline segment to a respective downstream functional RT. A respective DSL-C measures a first voltage across a first sense resistor representative of current flowing in a first portion of its wireline segment to the RT, and also measures a second voltage across a second sense resistor representative of current flowing in a second portion of the wireline segment from the RT. In response to a difference in the first and second voltages an output representative of a ground fault in that wireline segment is generated.

Abstract: A method, system and storage medium for monitoring power control loops in an optical communication network. The method includes polling network elements to obtain power management information for the network elements. A set of power management rules is selected based on the power management information along with network configuration, channel types, etc. The power management rules are applied to determine the validity of open and closed power control loop in the network elements.

Abstract: A remote battery replacement notification system (10) for a communication system includes a subscriber unit (12) having a battery (14). An operational support system (16) is in communication with the subscriber unit (12). The operational support system (16) periodically polls the subscriber unit (12). A compact service node (18) is in communication with the subscriber unit (12). The compact service node (18) sends a replace battery notification to the subscriber unit (12) when a replace battery message is received from the operational support system (16).

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system are provided for controlling the power-mode of a telephonic device. An off-hook condition is detected. A power level for an operation of an electronic device is determined based upon detecting the off-hook condition. Determining the power level includes determining a frequency parameter and/or a pulse-width parameter of a power signal. The power signal is provided for an operation of the electronic device based upon the determined power level.

  • Patent number: 7397913
Abstract: A telephone apparatus and method for stabilizing a call in a no power operation (NPO) mode. A sub-controller controls the NPO mode by at least one of a central office line voltage and an external supply voltage, and a main controller performs a booting operation in response to the external supply voltage to control an operation of the sub-controller under the condition that the external supply voltage is provided. A power-on detector detects a power-on state to output a power-on detection signal to the sub-controller, whereupon, during a call connection in the NPO mode, the sub-controller outputs a booting hold or reset signal to the main controller to prevent the main controller from booting a program masked in an internal ROM area. A hook-on signal based on a hook-on state of a handset, causes the sub-controller to block the output of the hold or reset signal, enabling the main controller to perform the booting operation after a call termination occurs.
