Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for recording media communications. An exemplary method is comprised of the following steps: configuring an endpoint recording device for relaying an incoming call to an endpoint component; receiving the incoming call from a communication system; determining whether to relay the incoming call to the endpoint component based on the configurations of the endpoint recording device; responsive to determining that the incoming call is to be relayed, relaying media communications associated with the incoming call to the endpoint component via the endpoint recording device; and recording the relayed media communications at the endpoint component.

Abstract: Included are embodiments for recording data from a communication. At least one embodiment includes receiving media data associated with the communication from a first communications device at a first receive port and sending the received media data to a first transmit port, wherein the first transmit port is coupled to a second receive port. Some embodiments include sending the received media data to a recording device via a connection with the recorder, the connection being located on the coupling of the first transmit port and the second receive port.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for archiving a call terminating at a client device are provided. In an example, a command or packet associated with a protocol for setting up the call is intercepted. In response to the interception, the call is associated with a call ID. An information associated with the call is retrievably stored in an archive using the call ID. The information is at least partially determined via replicating at least one of a device input signal associated with an outbound call content and a device output signal associated with an inbound call content. In an example, a call capture agent resident on the client device is controlled by a call archive administration service, and performs the replication by forming respective loopbacks corresponding to the at least one of the device input signal and the device output signal. In an example, the respective loopbacks are virtual loopbacks.

Abstract: A microprocessor and a DSP are coupled with a cable modem and an IAD framer to terminate a DS1 link at a media terminal device. The processor performs call control operations and the DSP performs signal processing, such that call processing occurs at the device. The framer extracts or inserts call control information from robbed-bit signaling bits. Data streams from the DS1 link are formatted/packetized according to a protocol used by a VoIP network. VoIP is used to transmit the packetized call from the cable modem portion to a CMTS over a broadband network. QoS attributes are implemented on the derived data streams as would be done for calls generated by a standard PacketCable EMTA.

Abstract: A communication device for consecutively rendering one or more conversations. The device includes a receiver configured to receive at the communication device media associated with the one or more conversations over a network. The one or more conversations include a defined set of conversations to be consecutively rendered in accordance with a defined priority hierarchy. The device also includes a sequencing element, which sequences the received media associated with the defined set of conversations into a sequence order at least partially based on the defined priority hierarchy. A rendering element consecutively renders the received media associated with the defined set of conversations in the sequence order.

Abstract: System and method for recording telephone calls comprising receiving computer telephony integration fields from first and second sources, identifying which of the CTI fields are physical CTI fields to be used for locating audio to be recorded, identifying which of the CTI fields are logical CTI fields, identifying one of the physical CTI fields received from the first source and one of the logical CTI fields received from the second source as being related to a specific telephone call and recording said telephone call based on audio location information from the physical CTI field associated with the call.

Abstract: Methods and computer-readable media provide presenting a customized message to an incoming calling party and for allowing the calling party to save or forward the customized message. A called party desiring to leave a customized message for certain incoming calling parties submits a customized message to an intelligent network component of her telecommunications service provider along with identifiers for specified incoming callers who are to receive the customized message upon calling the called party. After the customized message is prepared, incoming callers who have been associated with the customized message are presented with the customized message before being connected to the called party. After an incoming caller receives the customized message, the calling party may store or send the customized message for later retrieval. If the incoming call is not from a telephone directory number associated with the customized message, the incoming call is processed according to normal call processing methods.

Abstract: A power transmission device performs power-saving power transmission that transmits a small amount of power as compared with normal power transmission when the power transmission device has detected that a battery of a load has been fully charged so that the operation of a charge control device (charge control IC) of the load is maintained, thereby enabling recharging due to a charge management function of the charge control device. Since the load state of a power reception device increases when recharging has started, the power transmission device detects an increase in the load state and changes power transmission from power-saving power transmission to normal power transmission. When the power reception device has been removed during power-saving power transmission, the power transmission device detects that the power reception device has been removed, and stops continuous power transmission so that unnecessary power consumption does not occur.

Abstract: Systems and methods which collect information regarding users of controlled environment visitation terminals for identification of one or more parties to a visitation conversation are shown. Identifying information may be provided by various means, such as entry of a PIN, RFID, biometrics, etcetera. Embodiments provide a closed circuit visitation communication system in which a single port of a communication control system is used with respect to a pair of visitation terminals. Embodiments operate to prevent communication between a resident of a controlled environment facility and a visitor while identifying information is collected and verified.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a voice mail apparatus is connectable to a telephone exchange, records a voice message sent from a caller telephone terminal in a mail box corresponding to each telephone terminals, and reproduces the voice message in response to a reproduction instruction. The voice mail apparatus stores in a memory an audio file having approximately the same signal level as the voice message. The voice mail apparatus inputs the audio file in a voice processing device when a request for processing the voice message is given from a request source telephone terminal. The voice mail apparatus controls the processing gain such that the signal level output from the voice processing device becomes a prescribed level, while performing muting for the request source telephone terminal. The voice mail apparatus inputs the voice message to the voice processing device after completing controlling of the processing gain.

Abstract: According to an embodiment on the present invention, a method for controlling a voice recorder is disclosed. The voice recorder is for recording a voice session between an origination device and a destination device. The method can be conveniently executed at a computing apparatus coupled to the origination device and to the voice recorder. The method comprises receiving at least one of a user identifier associated with a user of the origination device and a destination identifier associated with the destination device. The method further comprises generating a voice recording trigger using at least one of data associated with the user identifier and data associated with the destination identifier. The voice recording trigger is then transmitted to the voice recorder to enable the voice recorder to control recording of the voice session between the origination device and the destination device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, computer program products, and methods of doing business by selectably mixing one or more sound files with a telephone caller's voice message, either as background for that message or embedded within the message. Or, the mixing may occur within a telephone conversation between parties. The disclosed techniques enable alleviating some of the problems that result from distance communication (as contrasted to face-to-face communication). In particular, context information (such as emotional context) can be provided through appropriate use of background sound and/or embedded audio files. The disclosed techniques may also make communication through voice mail exchange more enjoyable and/or increase its productivity.

Abstract: A system and method for creating and distributing messages including dynamic content is provided. In one form, an entity provides a plurality of content segments for use in building a dynamic message. The entity also provides a listing of end users to receive a message and information associated with the user, such as demographic or prior purchasing information. In an alternate form, the service connects to the user in a communication session and collects information from the user directly. The service then uses this information, whether provided by the entity or the end user, as the basis for selection of various content segments which will make up a dynamic message for presentation to the user.

Abstract: A system and method for generating and providing a voice-site on a linked network of voice-sites over a network. A voice call is received from a subscriber at the first voice site, the first voice site hosted on a server and the subscriber is associated with the first voice site. The subscriber is configured to create and personalize a second voice site starting from the first voice site by specifying personal preferences of the subscriber and available components on the server, and the second voice site created by the subscriber comprises a list of services offered by the subscriber, and then host the second voice site on the server.

The media information includes data, voice, audio, and/or video information.

Abstract: A system and method for integrating heterogeneous phone message mailboxes in a common interface. A message record is created in a data structure of a local telephone device when a phone message received over a first telephone line is stored in a local answering device is completed. A message alert is received when a remote phone message is stored in a remote mailbox associated with a second telephone line linked to the local telephone device. The remote phone message is sent to the local telephone device for silent playback. The remote message is marked as old at the remote mailbox. A message record is created in the data structure corresponding to the remote message. A program operates to produce an ordered message record list in the data structure that includes, for example, an interleaved chronological list of all phone messages stored in the local and remote mailboxes.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for adding attachments to voice calls. A communication system for the invention includes a file server and a switching system of a circuit-based network. During a voice call connected between a first station and a second station over the circuit-based network, the switching system detects a code entered by the user of the first station. Responsive to detecting the code, the switching system transmits a query to the file server. The file server processes the query to locate one or more files stored in the file server. The file server then transmits the located file to the switching system. The switching system plays the file to the second station over the connection for the voice call.

Abstract: A phone terminal is provided which allows more efficient use of a record area for recording call data than before. A complex apparatus is capable of suspending recording of call data during a period in which a no-service state is detected. As a result, the recordation of call data is not performed while the call is interrupted. The call data no longer contains a voiceless area. The size of the call data can be minimized, resulting in that the effective use of the record area is promoted.

Abstract: A recording device provides conversation recording with real-time notification between users of communication terminals engaged in a conversation. The recording device provides a recording start notification to a second communication terminal in response to receiving an initiate recording request from a first communication terminal, and initiates recording of the conversation. The recording device terminates recording of the conversation in response to receiving a terminate recording request from the first communication terminal, provides a recording stop notification to the second communication terminal, and saves the recorded conversation to a file in a file storage medium. The recording start and recording stop notifications can be either audible or electronic notifications. The first communication terminal may be muted prior to providing a notification, and un-muted subsequent to the notification. The recording device may obtain permission from the second communication terminal to record the conversation.

Abstract: A method for providing training to agents of an automatic call distribution center includes determining whether an agent is idle and, in response to determining that the agent is idle, initiating playback of a recorded training call to the agent. Additionally, the method includes receiving an incoming call from a caller for connection with one of a plurality of agents. Also, the method includes terminating playback of the recorded training call and connecting the agent to the incoming call.

Abstract: An improved arrangement for managing voice mail boxes. A group voice mail account will be defined to include a general mailbox and two or more sub-mailboxes. For each sub-mailbox, the voice mail account will define a respective pass code that can be used as a key for gaining management access to that sub-mailbox and to the general mailbox but not to any other one of the sub-mailboxes. When the voice mail system receives from a user the pass code associated with a given sub-mailbox, the voice mail system will thus allow the user to manage greetings and/or messages associated with the given sub-mailbox and greetings and/or messages associated with the general mailbox, but the voice mail server will not allow the user to manage greetings or messages associated with other mailboxes. Further, upon gaining access to manage the general mailbox, the user may create additional sub-mailboxes.

Abstract: A teleconferencing system receives at least two streams that are parts of a live conference and individually records at least one of the streams. During the conference, a conferencing system receives a request from a communication device that is participating in the conference for at least a portion of at least one but not all of the recorded streams and in response sends the requested portion(s) of the stream to the communication device. The communication device can then play back the requested portion(s) of the recorded stream(s) to a participant in the conference. The streams may be audio and/or video streams.

Abstract: A voice record integrator receives information to be acknowledged by a user such as a statement of facts, an electronic document, or other record. The system creates a document identifier that may be used to identify the information being acknowledged and uses the document identifier to present a voice script for the user to read. The system records the user reading the voice script and creates a voice record. The voice record may be stored and later used to verify the user's acknowledgement of the statement of facts, electronic document, or other record.

Abstract: Asynchronous voice messaging is employed to enable individuals to send voice clips back and forth over a network. In at least some embodiments, the voice clips reside in the form of discrete, manageable objects that can be easily managed by the user. In addition, some embodiments described provide hand-free/eyes-free functionality that can permit a user to create and send (or receive and play) a voice message without having to physically enter an intended recipient's address or otherwise digitally manipulate the device over which the message is sent or received.

Abstract: A cellular telephone handset stores audio files previously recorded by the user as well as voice mail messages from other users and selectively transmitted selected ones of these files to the remote listener, or to the voice mail system of a remote user. Voice mail messages are composed, stored, transmitted, forwarded and reviewed using a voice mail system without ringing the remote party's telephone, much as email is composed, stored, transmitted and reviewed using an email server.

Abstract: Call replay systems and methods are disclosed. A call replay system can record a telephonic communication and replay the recorded communication upon request. The entire communication may be recorded, or only a portion, such as the most recent few minutes. The entire recording can be transmitted to a requester, or only a portion. The recording may be altered before it is transmitted to a requestor. Alterations may include actions taken to reduce playback time, such as removing spaces in the recording where no conversation is taking place, or speeding up the recording. Other alterations may include adjusting the sonic characteristics of the recording, translating the recording, or transcribing the recording to create a text version.

Abstract: Systems and techniques for improved user prompting. A system according to one aspect of the invention includes a central server hosting various modules providing services to users. The modules suitably employ voice recognition in order to interpret user inputs. Each module has access to user information that includes information indicating the user's experience with each function of each module. When a module needs to issue a prompt to the user, it retrieves and examines the user information to determine the user's experience with the module and function. Suitably, each module is operative to categorize a user as belonging to an experience category, such as novice, intermediate and expert based on the user's level of experience with the function. The module selects a prompt associated with the user's level of experience with the function and presents it to the user.

Abstract: A method, system and computer program product records missed information that is communicated between one or more connected communication terminals during a disconnection period and replays the missed information when a temporarily-disconnected communication terminal reconnects to the active communication session. The method comprises: detecting disconnection of the communication terminal from the active communication session; in response to detecting the disconnection, automatically recording the missed information exchanged between the one or more connected communication terminals remaining in the active communication session; detecting reconnection of the disconnected terminal to the active communication session; and delivering the recorded information exchange to the reconnected terminal, in response to detecting the reconnection.

Abstract: A digital multifunction device is provided with RAM having a virtual drive area. The digital multifunction device enables a personal computer connected to and capable of communicating with the digital multifunction device via a USB interface to recognize this virtual drive area as an external storage device. When the personal computer writes image data to the virtual drive area, the digital multifunction device selectively executes one of an image forming process, fax transmitting process, and mail transmitting process based on the type of folder in which the image data is written. Accordingly, image data in a first folder is printed on recording paper, or image data in a second folder is transmitted to an external facsimile machine.

Abstract: A method and system for allowing a calling party to save information obtained from an information retrieval system. The caller may select options to save the information to a memory location, e.g., the caller's own network-based voice mail system or a temporary voice mailbox provided for the caller by the information provider, from which the caller can subsequently retrieve and review the information. The information may be saved to an Internet-based website from which the caller may subsequently retrieve the information. The information may be forwarded to a separate telephone directory number for receipt by a third person or for storing on a remote voice mail system. Additionally, the information may be electronically mailed to the caller's electronic mail address for subsequent retrieval. Discussions with a live attendant may be recorded and stored, as audio files or as converted to text, for access by or delivery to the caller.

Abstract: A system and method for simultaneously conducting multiple telephone conversations is provided. In an embodiment, a user converses with one individual on a first channel while simultaneously transmitting audible utterances to a second individual or a second channel. The user can select the desired channel or channels and a desired phrase and an electronic representation of the selected phrase is transmitted over the selected channel(s).

Abstract: A WLAN communication system (10) and method employs mobile WLAN base stations (16) that include WLAN transceivers (26) and memory (30) for storing received messages from one or more mobile WLAN devices (12a-12n). The mobile WLAN base stations (16) serve as moving message carriers or message repeaters of messages for the mobile WLAN devices. In one embodiment, a mobile WLAN base station (16) receives messages transmitted by several mobile WLAN devices (12a-12n), temporarily stores the received messages, and delivers the stored messages to a fixed WLAN base station or another mobile WLAN base station when the mobile WLAN base station (16) moves to within communication range of the applicable fixed or other mobile WLAN base station.

Abstract: The present invention provides audio messaging in a communications network, e.g., a VoIP network. More specifically, the present invention establishes a non-duplex communication link between a first subscriber and a second subscriber. Audio messages are transmitted between the first subscriber and the second subscriber via the non-duplex communication link.

A memory can retrievably store the digital voice signal outputted from the voice encoder and a voice decoder converts the digital voice signal into an outgoing analog voice signal. A selection device outputs a selected one of the analog voice signal from the microphone and the outgoing analog voice signal from the voice decoder in response to the control signal from the control unit.

A system adapted to obtain information associated with a VoIP communication session on a computer network includes a tapping device to passively tap the computer network to obtain signaling information and media information in a first format, a processing device adapted to transcode the media information from the first format to a second format and separate the signaling information from the media information, and a storage device adapted to store the transcoded media information in the second format.

The call processor delivers the message to the destination phone during the second collect call, records a response to the message from the destination phone during the second collect call after the message has been delivered, and stores the response for subsequent retrieval by a facility phone.

Abstract: Provided are a method and system for publishing presence information and a presence agent. The method includes receiving a voice message input through a terminal by a user, parsing the received voice message and extracting presence information, and publishing the extracted presence information.
