  • Patent number: 10979562
Abstract: When a call session is set over an IP network between a calling IP phone and a called IP phone at the start of a call, information on the quality of communication between a host IP phone and a recording server is exchanged to compare the quality of communication of the two IP phones in each of the calling IP phone and the called IP phone. For example, the called IP phone, or a host IP phone, with a higher quality of communication than the calling IP phone of a conversing party transmits call audio data to the recording server as recording data. Meanwhile, the calling IP phone, or a host IP phone, with a lower quality of communication than the called IP phone of a conversing party refrains from transmitting the call audio data to the recording server.

Abstract: It relates to computer communication technology. A method and system for transmitting voice messages are disclosed. The method includes: voice data collected by the first intercom terminal are received; whether the size of the voice data collected reaches a predefined threshold are circularly detected; and when the size of the voice data collected reaches the predefined threshold, or when the voice data collected doesn't reach the predefined size but contains a voice message terminator, the voice data collected are upload to the transit server via a predefined network, to realize asynchronization between voice data collection and uploading. Thus the problem of the prolongation of the intercom data transmission time associated with existing processes is solved by such an effective intercom data transmission method.

  • Patent number: 9167096
Abstract: A visual voicemail may be automatically transmitted to a receiving mobile device after the visual voicemail fails to reach the receiving mobile device during an initial delivery attempt. For example, a visual voicemail delivery system may receive an indication of an incoming voicemail, and a visual voicemail associated with the incoming voicemail may be generated. The system may maintain the delivery status of the visual voicemail. For example, if the receiving mobile device retrieves the visual voicemail from the system via a communication session, the system may mark the visual voicemail as delivered. After a predetermined period of time has elapsed, the system may determine whether the visual voicemail has been delivered to the mobile device. If the system determines that the visual voicemail has not been delivered to the mobile device, the system may automatically transmit visual voicemail to the mobile device.

Abstract: An ability to compress packets is announced from a customer edge router (CE) to other CEs through a routing protocol packet. An announcement of that ability is received from another CE through a routing protocol packet. A compression technique is then matched. The CE receives compression information from the other CE in a routing protocol packet, and determines that a compression technique identified therein matches any compression technique the CE is programmed to use. The CE then flags packets transmitted from/received by the CE to be compressed/decompressed according to the matched compression technique. Alternatively, the CE may match by transmitting compression information identifying a compression technique to the another CE in a routing protocol packet; the another CE receives the routing protocol packet and determines that a compression technique identified in the compression information of the routing protocol packet matches any compression technique the another CE is programmed to use.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a microcontroller which includes a Register Load Assist engine. The microcontroller can include no or minimal non-volatile memory which stores boot data. Thus, most of the boot data can be stored at a non-volatile memory external to the microcontroller. An external circuit can read the externally positioned non-volatile memory and send compressed boot data to the microcontroller. The boot data can be originally stored in compressed form in the external non-volatile memory or it can be compressed by the external circuit. The boot data can be received by the microcontroller and saved in an intermediate location in the microcontroller's internal volatile memory. The RLA engine can then uncompress the boot data and store various portions of it in their final destinations (such as, for example, in respective registers).

Abstract: A device stores one or more compression rules for an action language. Upon receipt of a signal from a tag (such as an RFID tag, a visual tag, or an audio tag), a compressed data stream corresponding to the tag is decoded from the signal. Based on the one or more compression rules, one or more action parameters are derived from the compressed data stream. With these parameters, a corresponding action is performed. The action may include communicating across a wireless communications network as well as obtaining content from a remote content provider. Also the action may include storing data, such as a contact entry, or a calendar event.

Abstract: A system, method and computer program product are provided for handling unregistered callers in a voice recognition framework. Initially, it is determined whether a user is registered. If it is determined that the user is not registered, a registration process is executed. Once registered, utterances may be received from the user and recognized for the purpose of providing a service to the user.

  • Patent number: 6804806
Abstract: A method and apparatus for delivering a greeting from a group of individuals to an individual or another group of individuals is disclosed. Recipient information, contributor information, billing information, and an input from each contributor are received by the system. The system composes the greeting using the contributor inputs and delivers the greeting to the recipient in the form of an audio or multimedia greeting. All the contributors can simultaneously provide their input to the greeting or individual contributors can connect to the system (at any time before a pre-determined time limit) and add an input to the greeting after reviewing the prior inputs of other contributors.

  • Patent number: 6754486
Abstract: A mobile telephone, or personal communication services subscriber who wishes directory assistance services is connected in the conventional manner to an operator who identifies a destination telephone number desired by the subscriber. As known in the prior art, the operator then initiates a call connecting the subscriber to the destination telephone number. In a preferred embodiment, the operator locates a desired destination telephone number in a computer database, and can select automatic dialing of the located number. Further, rather than dropping all further involvement with the call, the preferred embodiment of the present invention continually monitors the connection thereby established for a predetermined DTMF signal issued by the customer, such as that obtained by pressing the “*” button. If such a signal is detected, the customer is transferred to a directory assistance operator, who can then provide whatever further assistance is needed (e.g., providing further directory assistance).

  • Patent number: 6731723
Abstract: An apparatus and method for recording at least two separate incoming signals which reduces computational complexity and memory requirements of the recording device. In one embodiment, the apparatus records and stores the first arriving signal using a high-compression algorithm to reduce memory requirements. Upon receipt of a second signal concurrent with the first arriving signal, the apparatus records and stores the second signal using a second compression algorithm with a lower compression ratio. The second algorithm requires less hardware or processor resources while still providing a moderate degree of compression in relation to the first algorithm. Upon completion of receipt of the first arriving signal, the second signal which was compressed using the second algorithm is decoded and then re-encoded using the first high-compression algorithm. This further reduces memory storage requirements without requiring additional hardware or processor capability.

  • Patent number: 6728344
Abstract: A telephone answering device including two separate coders, a first coder for encoding/decoding fixed voice prompts spoken by a single speaker, and a second coder for encoding/decoding incoming and outgoing voice messages spoken by multiple speakers. The first coder uses a first set of codebooks trained based on a first set of utterances spoken by a single speaker, while the second coder uses a second set of codebooks trained based on a second set of utterances spoken by multiple speakers. Because the first set of utterances is significantly smaller in size than the second set of utterances, and the range of pitch period is significantly smaller in size for the first set of utterances spoken by a single speaker in comparison to that of the second set of utterances spoken by multiple speakers, the size of the first set of codebooks is significantly reduced relative to the size of the second set of codebooks.
