The step of generating a random number for the personal code is optionally responsive to receipt of the call. The method is optionally performed only if one or more predefined criteria defining an attack are satisfied. The disclosed IVR system can optionally monitor the caller response to determine whether the caller enters the generated random number.

During the existing test communications connection, time unit intervals of successive time pulses are measured and compared with a predetermined time interval. A further method involving receipt of additional time pulse(s) after the termination of the test communications connection is also provided.

Calls may be routed to existing call centers based upon information from the Web experience, and information from the user's Web interaction is shared with the call center. Web interaction information is passed to existing call centers using known call center external control methods, such as DNIS signaling.
