Including Filter For Removing Masking Signal Patents (Class 380/208)
  • Patent number: 8645281
Abstract: A process for authenticating an end user. A first pattern of colored quadrilaterals is generated. A second pattern of multiple colored nodes that include a first subset of nodes is generated. The first and second patterns are sent to the end user. If a transparent credit card is overlaid by the end user on top of the second pattern, then a second subset of nodes in the credit card would match in color and location the first subset of nodes. The authenticity status of the end user is determined by determining whether each node of a third subset of nodes within the second subset of nodes (i) corresponds to a unique node of the multiple colored nodes and (ii) has a color that matches a specific color in one quadrilateral of the colored quadrilaterals. The determined authenticity status is sent to the end user via an output device.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for encoding and decoding additional information into a stream of digitized samples in an integral manner. The information is encoded using special keys. The information is contained in the samples, not prepended or appended to the sample stream. The method makes it extremely difficult to find the information in the samples if the proper keys are not possessed by the decoder. The method does not cause a significant degradation to the sample stream. The method is used to establish ownership of copyrighted digital multimedia content and provide a disincentive to piracy of such material.

  • Patent number: 8064457
Abstract: System and method for filtering a data packet using a combined filter are disclosed. In one aspect, the method includes receiving a data packet and N filters each comprising a mask and value. The method includes receiving a data packet and N (wherein N is an integer and N>1) filters, each filter comprising a bit mask and corresponding bit values. The method further includes generating a common filter mask and the corresponding bit values by taking the overlapping mask bits among portions of the N filters corresponding to the common filter, the common filter being of a length smaller than each filter. The method further includes applying the common filter mask to the data packet to determine whether there is a match between the filtered data packet and each of the N filters.

  • Patent number: 6654887
Abstract: Media content, such as imagery (including video) and audio, can be encoded to convey hidden information (steganographic encoding) for a variety of purposes, including communication of auxiliary information (e.g., copyright data), authentication, tamper detection, forensic tracking, etc. The reading (decoding) of the hidden information from the media content is complicated if the content has been corrupted in some manner. One example of corruption is the lossy compression/decompression associated with JPEG processing of digital imagery. In some cases, the corruption introduces errors in the decoding. In other cases, the corruption prevents the hidden information from being decoded at all. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, reliable decoding of steganographically encoded information is enhanced by processing the corrupted media content so as to counteract some of the corruption.

  • Patent number: 6425082
Abstract: In the process of embedding watermark information in one-dimensional source data, first spread one-dimensional data x(t) is generated by subjecting one-dimensional source data s(t) to spectrum-spreading operation using a PN sequence g(t). This first spread one-dimensional data x(t) then undergoes a modified discrete cosine transformation. A specific frequency component value of the MDCT coefficients is modulated to provide association with the watermark information. The modulated frequency component then undergoes inverse transformation to generate second spread one-dimensional data x′(t). Then, using the same PN sequence in the spreading, the second spread one-dimensional data is subjected to spectrum-despreading to produce digitally watermarked one-dimensional data in which watermark data has been embedded.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for digital watermarking to resolve multiple claims of ownership is disclosed. According to one embodiment of the invention, a first watermark requiring the host data for detection is embedded into the host data. A second watermark is also embedded into the host data. According to another embodiment of the invention, a pseudo-random sequence acting as a watermark is generated based on two random keys. One of the two random keys is related to the author of the host data into which the watermark is to be embedded, whereas the other of the two random keys is dependent on the host data itself.
