  • Patent number: 10256829
Abstract: There are disclosed methods and apparatus for enhancing the image exposure of image inventories. A frame conversion and packaging machine assigns metadata to each frame of a digital video work. It takes objects that have been detected, recognized and assigned metadata to the objects by the frame slicing and packaging machine and enhances the image exposure and assigns new items of metadata to the enhanced-exposure modified images. The frame conversion and packaging machine then generates a cryptographic hash of the enhanced-exposure modified image's digital file. The frame conversion and packaging machine writes the hash to a node of a transaction processing network. Further, there are disclosed methods and apparatus for conversion of monochromatic image inventories to colored image inventories. A frame color-conversion and packaging machine assigns metadata to each frame of a digital video work.

  • Patent number: 9571899
Abstract: A method for watermarking digital media content received in a form of at least one encrypted sample to which metadata is assigned. Each sample is encrypted by means of a sample key. The metadata comprises first data, second data and a signature resulting from the first and second data. The first data is encrypted by a transport key and comprises at least a content key and watermarking metadata. The second data comprises an initialization vector so that the content key and the initialization vector form a unique pair of cryptographic data equivalent to the sample key. The method comprises the steps of extracting the metadata from the media content, decrypting the first data by using the transport key, authenticating the signed data and, in case of positive outcome, descrambling each sample by using the pair of cryptographic data, and marking each descrambled sample by using the watermarking metadata.

  • Patent number: 8667598
Abstract: When a viewer views content, it is reproduced by a reproduction procedure depending on a dynamic condition set in the content. Here, a content object data input unit obtains an externally-input content object. The content object is stored in a content object data retention unit, if necessary. The content object includes a reproduction rule and a content data. A reproduction rule evaluation and execution unit obtains the reproduction rule in the content object and performs processing in accordance with the reproduction rule. The reproduction unit reproduces a reproducible data specified by the reproduction rule evaluation and execution unit. An identifier management unit retains an identifier of a content object reproduction device and provides the identifier upon request. It is thus possible to reproduce in accordance with the reproduction rule set in the content object data and to control the reproduction procedure depending on the dynamic condition.

  • Patent number: 8261097
Abstract: A data recording apparatus and a data reproducing apparatus which ensure security of a portable recording medium, such as an optical disk. The apparatus has a security mode and a normal mode as operation modes. In the security mode, a system controller of the apparatus records a security identification signal in an area other than a user data area of the optical disk. At the time of copying of the optical disk, the security identification signal disappears, and a limitation is imposed on reproduction, thereby preventing copying operation. In the security mode, the system controller records the security identification signal in the area other than the user data area of the optical disk, as well as recording user data by means of converting an address through use of a password. At the time of reproduction of data, absence or presence of the security identification signal is ascertained. When the security identification signal is present, the address is inversely converted, thereby reproducing data.

  • Patent number: 8140849
Abstract: A content distribution mechanism that relies on cooperative desktop PCs to distribute content is disclosed. The mechanism distributes content in a robust manner by allowing at least one intermediate network node (i.e., between a source and client) to generate and send packets that contain a linear combination of the portions of content available at the node. Such linear combinations may be created by the source and client using at least a portion of the original content file in either encoded or unencoded form. After the client has received enough linearly independent combinations of packets, the original content may be reconstructed. Further, security for network coding file distribution may be employed to maintain the efficiency and security of the content distribution mechanism. A security server may generate security information using a hashing algorithm including the property of producing security information for each block which survives the process of creating encoded blocks.

Abstract: Content revocation is achieved by disabling licenses issued to a computing device for the content. A content revocation is delivered within a license to the computing device. Upon license storage the content revocation is recognized, validated, and stored in a secure state store under the public key of the content server (PU-CS) that issued the content. Each license has a (PU-CS) therein, and each license evaluation considers each content revocation stored in the state store and having the same (PU-CS). The license is disabled or otherwise affected based on the considered content revocation. A content revocation is one form of a license modification that may be delivered within a license.

Abstract: A database-modeled security policy includes policy statements stored in a database. Each policy statement has associated standards, guidelines, and procedures. Policy statements are grouped together into tag groups, which are in turn grouped together to form metapolicies. A security administrator uses a security policy management application to create metapolicies for specific audiences. A lightweight directory access protocol module manages access to the security policy. The security policy management application also provides scoring, reporting, and project management functionalities.

  • Patent number: 7149895
Abstract: The invention is related to a system which allows a user to authenticate unknown terminals. The invention uses a first authentication step wherein the terminal authenticates itself to a server. Depending on whether the personal device has its own output means, such as a loudspeaker or a screen, the final message, whether the terminal can be trusted or not, can be output on the personal device or on the terminal itself. In the case where the device has no output means of its own, this message can originate in the device and be transmitted from there to the terminal. The user can input authentication information into his personal device, which can then be fully or partially transmitted to the terminal. In the end, the terminal may use the transmitted information to give out the authenticity output message. After the first authentication step follows a second authentication step, wherein the server authenticates itself to the personal device, if there is one.

  • Patent number: 6832319
Abstract: A system and method for enabling broadcast programs to be copied once only by consumer recorders includes writing a unique media identification on each blank disk to which content is to copied in a read-only area of the disk before it is initially recorded. Also, a one-way key management media key block is written to the disk. A content key is derived by combining a media key, derived from the media key block, with the media identification. Additionally, to facilitate copying the content one time only, an exchange key is established between the recorder and a sender such as a satellite receiver or a disk player that is associated with the recorder, and the exchange key is modified with special numbers representing control commands including copy once and copy no more. The exchange key is then encrypted using the content key and then hashed with a nonce to render a bus content key. The bus content key is then used to encrypt the data for copying the data to a disk.
