  • Patent number: 8793510
Abstract: Systems and methods for encrypting a plaintext logical data object for storage in a storage device operable with at least one storage protocol, creating, reading, writing, optimization and restoring thereof. Encrypting the plaintext logical data object comprises creating in the storage device an encrypted logical data object comprising a header and one or more allocated encrypted sections with predefined size; encrypting one or more sequentially obtained chunks of plaintext data corresponding to the plaintext logical data object thus giving rise to the encrypted data chunks; and sequentially accommodating the processed data chunks into said encrypted sections in accordance with an order said chunks received, wherein said encrypted sections serve as atomic elements of encryption/decryption operations during input/output transactions on the logical data object.

  • Patent number: 8766827
Abstract: Parallel compression is performed on an input data stream by processing circuitry. The processing circuitry includes hashing circuitry, match engines, pipeline circuitry and a match selector. The hashing circuitry identifies multiple locations in one or more history buffers for searching for a target data in the input data stream. The match engines perform multiple searches in parallel for the target data in the one or more history buffers. The pipeline circuitry performs pipelined searches for multiple sequential target data in the input data stream in consecutive clock cycles. Then the match selector selects a result from the multiple searches and pipelined searches to compress the input data stream.

  • Patent number: 8731190
Abstract: A system for storing encrypted compressed data comprises a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to determine whether an encrypted compressed segment has been previously stored. The encrypted compressed segment was determined by breaking a data stream, a data block, or a data file into one or more segments and compressing and then encrypting each of the one or more segments. The processor is further configured to store the encrypted compressed segment in the event that the encrypted compressed segment has not been previously stored. The memory is coupled to the processor and configured to provide the processor with instructions.

  • Patent number: 8688621
Abstract: Systems and methods for information compression. In a first method embodiment, a computer implemented method for compressing information includes finding a closest match entry of a dictionary to a data block, the dictionary stored in computer usable media. A logical exclusive OR combination of the closest match entry and the data block is performed to form a spatial difference vector identifying locations wherein the data block differs from the closest match entry. An information difference vector comprising differences between the data block and the closest match entry is formed. A compressed data block comprising the spatial difference vector, the information difference vector and a reference to the closest match entry is produced. The compressed data block is characterized as being smaller than the data block.

  • Patent number: 8532287
Abstract: An information processing system and a method for use therewith, an information processing apparatus and a method for use therewith, and a program which are capable of decrypting desired portions of encrypted data are provided. Of packets 211 through 216 constituting a bit stream of layered-encoded image data 201 according to JPEG 2000, the packets 211 through 213 are each encrypted independently of the packets 214 through 216 which are also encrypted each. This produces encrypted split data 262 with the resolution at level zero (corresponding to R0) and encrypted split data 263 with the resolution at level one (corresponding to R1). The header (ranging from SOC to SOD) of layered-encoded image data 201 is appropriated for a header 261, followed by encrypted split data 262 and 263 and an EOC 264, in that order, the whole data array constituting data 251 that is output as the definitive encrypted data. • Patent number: 8520855
Abstract: A configuration for encapsulating data that is unreadable after a predetermined timeout. To encapsulate data a random data key is generated and split into shares. A threshold number of shares are needed to reconstruct the key. The shares are stored at random locations within one or more networks. Each location is configured to delete the stored data after a predetermined time period. Encapsulated data is created by creating a vanishing data object (VDO) comprising the encrypted data, and data sufficient to locate at least a threshold number of key shares from their stored locations. The VDO becomes inaccessible after enough shares of the data are deleted such that the data key cannot be restored. However, if prior to timeout a sufficient number of data key shares are located and retrieved the data key can be reconstructed. The reconstructed data key is then used to decrypt the original data.

  • Patent number: 8121292
Abstract: A control channel in a communication system transmits messages in a one or multiple-slot format. To assure consistency of a message, a content quality indicator is included in the message. Because a terminal receiving the message does not know the number of slots comprising the message, the terminal performs blind format determination by testing hypothesis for all slot formats. Unfortunately, the content of certain control messages results in control messages that appear to be valid in a sense that, the computed CRC is equal to the interpreted CRC. Consequently, the mobile station declares a valid control message, and a false-alarm event occurs. Moreover, the same control messages always result in the same false-alarm events. To prevent such repetitive incorrect determination, the content of the message is scrambled by a time-dependent scrambling sequence before transmission. Re-generating the scrambling sequence, and performing inverse to the scrambling then unscrambles the received message.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a technique for enhancing the inspection of data sent from a server is provided. By modifying a client request in an effort to prevent the transformation (e.g., encoding and/or compression) of data by the server, unencoded data may be received, which can be inspected without the overhead associated with first decoding the data. Further, in the event the data is encoded despite modifying the client request to prevent such encoding, the server may be untrustworthy and one or more appropriate actions may be taken.

Abstract: A system and method provide parallel compression of a single data stream is provided. A data stream entering a storage encryption processor is split by a splitting stage into a plurality of substantially equal segments. Each of the segments is stored in one of a first set of memories in a round robin fashion. Each memory has an associated compression core that reads the segments associated with each memory and compresses the data before storing the compressed segments in a second set of memories. A merging stage reads the compressed segments from the second set of memories and creates a single compressed data stream.

Abstract: A system and method enables efficient transfer and cryptographic processing of data within a security appliance. A network adapter of the security appliance initiates a random access data transfer to a system memory that is illustratively organized into a plurality of blocks of predetermined size. Mapping circuitry of the appliance is configured to track the progress of the data transfer between the adapter and memory such that, once data is stored in a memory block, an encryption processor of the appliance may process the data or the network adapter may retrieve the processed data without having to wait for completion of the data transfer between the adapter and memory, thereby reducing processing latency in the security appliance.

  • Patent number: 7979904
Abstract: A method, system and program product for maximizing virus check coverage, while minimizing redundancy in virus checking. The method includes evaluating, using an audit checking tool, whether or not a file in a working directory to be virus checked is a compressed file and, if the file is evaluated as being a compressed file, decompressing the compressed file evaluated using a decompression tool. Further, the method includes iterating the evaluating and decompressing steps to decompress any other files contained therein using the decompression tool and deleting a respective compressed file that is fully decompressed by the decompression tool without any errors from the working directory, while saving a respective compressed file that is not fully decompressed by the decompression tool. Furthermore, the method includes virus checking the working directory, such that, the virus checking does not virus check the respective compressed file that is deleted from the working directory.

The device may further include a processor carried by the housing and cooperating with the wireless transceiver for performing wireless communications. The processor may also cooperate with the at least one memory for authenticating the compressed software file based upon the digital signature and a public key corresponding to the private key. Upon authentication of the compressed software file, the processor uncompresses the compressed software file. The uncompressed software file may then be re-authenticated at a time after installation based upon the digest.

  • Patent number: 7936877
Abstract: It is an object to provide an efficient transfer of content data. In a case of transferring the content data from a data transfer device on a primary recording medium side to a data recording device to record the content data in a secondary recording medium, a data compression system and a bit rate that are conformable to the data recording device are compared with a data compression system and a bit rate of the content data to be sent, so that a required transfer processing is brought into realization according to a result of the comparison. For instance, when both the data compression systems are equal, and the bit rate of the content data is not more than the bit rate that is conformable to the data recording device, the content data is sent as it is in an encrypted compressed data state.
