The transmission line cross-sectional shape may be a circular, rounded rectangular, ovular, elliptical or any other suitable shape. With this method the diaphragm size of the contoured passive radiator may be as large as possible, without changing the thickness of main unit. The larger-sized passive radiator diaphragm may increase the air movement and as a result may increase sound pressure level (SPL) at low frequencies. This system may reduce the thickness of audio video equipment significantly and may be useful for producing deeper bass at low frequencies with less distortion, for thin equipment such as LCD TVs, plasma TVs, thin audio hi-fi system, car loudspeaker system, and other similar systems.

  • Patent number: 7664283
Abstract: The invention concerns an acoustic device with electro-acoustic transducers and with a cavity resonator that provide extreme tri-dimensional to concentrate/diffuse infrasonic, sonic and ultrasonic waves. It also concerns many structural designs in which some models of cavity resonators and all their transducers are appropriately arranged on the basis of the different uses; so doing it is possible to achieve numerous interacting operational set-ups (basic configuration systems) that can be used in the medical sector, in industry or in the home, in entertainment and leisure. Differently to previously known techniques the acoustic device according to this patent is also a highly sophisticated cybernetic apparatus for the reproduction of various tri-dimensional sound fields that are identical to the original ones, or for generating completely new ones. This acoustic device can be compared to a Helmholtz resonator that transmits sound-waves/harmonic frequencies rather than receiving them.

Vibration of the diaphragm vibrated by sound pressure from a speaker unit is intensified by forces of attraction of the magnets in order to reduce an acoustic stiffness of the cabinet and equivalently increase a cabinet volume, thereby realizing satisfactory bass reproduction with a small cabinet.

Abstract: An acoustic enclosure such as a loudspeaker (10) uses within the cabinet adsorbent material, and/or containment means (22) for the adsorbent material, which is at least partially hydrophobic. Preferably, the material is activated carbon treated to provide it with hydrophobic properties. Preferably, the adsorbent material is treated with a silicon-containing compound. This improves the acoustic compliance of the acoustic enclosure.

  • Patent number: 7436972
Abstract: A loudspeaker has a loudspeaker driver and a first tube having a base end coupled to the driver and extending towards the rear end of the loudspeaker. A second tube of larger cross sectional dimensions extends over the first tube and loudspeaker driver and has a rear end wall spaced from the open rear end of the second tube and a front end coupled to the driver. A third, open ended tube of smaller cross-sectional dimensions than the first tube extends through a rear end wall of the second tube and into the first tube, with the front end of the third tube spaced from the base of the first tube. A folded, three segment transmission line is formed between the first and second tubes, between the second and third tubes, and through the third tube.

Abstract: A loudspeaker system includes a speaker enclosure having an opening in a front wall, and a speaker manifold mounted within the speaker enclosure and communicating with the opening. The speaker manifold includes a pair of substantially parallel side walls, a back wall, and top and bottom walls, defining a manifold chamber. The wall opposite the back wall is substantially open to define a manifold opening and to permit the communicating. The manifold opening is substantially in alignment with the front wall opening. A woofer is mounted on a first wall of the speaker manifold. An acoustic vent is mounted on a second wall of the manifold, such that the woofer and the acoustic vent face each other at one of about a ISO degree angle or about a 90 degree angle.

Abstract: A speaker system having a first speaker, a second speaker, and a housing having a first mounting surface to which the first speaker is mounted and a second mounting surface to which the second speaker is mounted. The first mounting surface and the second mounting surface are substantially planar and abut one another to form an included angle of between 120 degrees and 140 degrees. By so arranging the mounting surfaces, the sound produced by each speaker is allowed to mix to provide a full sound.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a mobile terminal such as a mobile telephone or the like which has a speaker built in, and realizes a sound emission structure for separately extracting the front output and back output of the speaker in a plurality of directions. The construction of this mobile terminal comprises a first sound emission part which is formed in one surface part of a case having a speaker built in, and which conducts the front output of the speaker to the outside of the case, a sound conducting hole which is formed in case internal members disposed inside the case, and which causes the back output of the speaker to pass through the interior of the case, and conducts this output to the other surface of the case, and a second sound emission part which is formed in the other surface part of the case, and which conducts the back output from the sound conducting hole to the outside of the case.

  • Patent number: 7269270
Abstract: The frequency at which standing waves occur in a loudspeaker enclosure may be reduced by the addition of an internal barrier to the enclosure in order to lengthen the effective length of an internal dimension of the enclosure. Additionally, the internal barrier may be configured such that it forms a resistive coupling between two sides of the barrier. By configuring the internal barrier to form a resistive coupling, aberrations in the frequency response of the loudspeaker caused by certain standing waves may be dampened.
