  • Patent number: 6111969
Abstract: A broad band loudspeaker (101) includes a diaphragm (103) driven by coil assembly (125) centered on a pole (131) of a magnet assembly (133) by a low-friction guide (127) depending from a lower end the coil assembly, and a low-friction guide mounted on an upper end of the pole (131). A suspension (107) for the diaphragm (103) includes two or more parallel, resilient suspension members (115a, 115b), extending between the diaphragm (103) and frame (105) and mounted through a pair of resilient mounting pads (119a, 119b, 125a, 125b). The lower guide (127) includes a flexible portion (151a) which acts like a flapper valve of a pump to create a current of cooling air past down the inside of the coil assembly (125), up the outside of the coil assembly and then out of flux gap (130).

  • Patent number: 5920638
Abstract: The present invention relates to a structure of speaker which includes a disk body directly connected to the opening of a sound coil in a speaker. The disk body has a couple of reinforcing heat-sinking rings, and the opening edge of disk body is connected with the belly plate of speaker. The speaker of such structure is effective to radiate heat produced from the sound coil through the direct connection of the disk body with the sound coil and due to the light-weighted and thin metallic disk body having effective heat radiation so as to prolong the duration of play as well as the life span of the speaker. The end of the disk body projecting in the sound coil and the other end connected to the belly plate increases the capacity of resistance of the vibration wave and therefore one single speaker may provide an output as a tweeter and a woofer. The disk body directly connecting to the sound coil may give high fidelity of the vibration wave arising from movement of sound coil so as to improve sound quality.

  • Patent number: 5878150
Abstract: A damper for a loud speaker is produced by molding a substrate into a desired shape in which a fabric or knitted cloth composed of core-sheath type conjugate fibers composed of filaments having a core-sheath type structure is used as the substrate. A resin used for forming a core material in the core-sheath type structure functions as a matrix of the substrate. A sheath material having a lower melting point than that of the core material functions as an excipient, and is fused by a heat treatment and then solidified during the molding process, so as to bond together the intersections of fibers constituting the substrate and to cover the surface of the fibers. Thus, only a simple substrate production process is required and a damper for a loud speaker having excellent moldability, water-proofness, and durability is obtained.

  • Patent number: 5862242
Abstract: A speaker has a diaphragm of which plane shape as seen from a vibrating direction has a major axis and a minor axis, a band-shaped edge connected to the outer circumference of the diaphragm for holding so that the diaphragm may be free to vibrate, and a frame for holding the outer circumference of the edge, wherein a viscoelastic member is affixed to part of the edge and/or diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 5850462
Abstract: A speaker and its manufacturing method capable of reducing a man power required for mounting an input terminal and improving the product quality. The speaker manufacturing method uses a damper with a conductive member made of flat knitted tinsel wires loaded on or in a woven cloth. A terminal ring made of insulating material is mounted on the damper with the conductive member at its adhesive margin formed on the outer circumference portion. Input terminal lugs are mounted on the terminal ring. A voice coil is mounted on the damper with the conductive member and terminal ring. Input copper foil electrodes formed on the outer circumference of a coil bobbin of the voice coil is electrically connected to the end portions of the flat knitted tinsel wires extending to the inner hole of the damper with the conductive member. The terminal lugs are electrically connected to the ends of the flat knitted tinsel wires extending to the outer circumference of the damper with the conductive member.

  • Patent number: 5848174
Abstract: An inner suspension system for a speaker assembly comprising a center spider, an intermediate spider, and a linear spider. The system reduces distortion of the output from the speaker and increases axial integrity of the movement of the cone. The center spider and intermediate spider are disk shaped and are each attached to the frame of the speaker assembly and to different points on the voice coil former. The linear spider, on the other hand, is cylindrically shaped and is attached to the pole piece of the magnetic motor structure, and the cone converges upon the other end of the cylindrically shaped linear spider.
