  • Patent number: 11789525
Abstract: A multi-modal interactive apparatus provides for output and input using a plurality of modalities. A display presents image output and speakers provide audio output. A sensor module includes sensors such as a microphone array, camera, radar, ambient light sensor, and so forth. Based on how the apparatus is mounted to a supporting structure, in one implementation the overall orientation of the apparatus may be arranged to provide a desired field-of-view (FOV) to the sensors. For example, based on mounting height, the orientation places the sensor module on a top or bottom of the mounted device. Within the sensor module, one or more sensors may be mounted with a pitch angle that directs the FOV to encompass users during typical operation. In another implementation, the sensor module may be repositioned with respect to the apparatus to provide the desired FOV, such as moved from top to bottom.

Abstract: A planar speaker system may include a bottom frame having a cavity. Within this cavity a plurality of magnets may be arranged to form a substantially circular pattern. A diaphragm that includes a plurality of electrically conductive traces may be connected to the bottom frame and extend across the cavity of the bottom frame. When alternating current flows through the electrically conductive traces, the diaphragm may vibrate in response to the interaction between the current flowing in the electrically conductive traces and the magnetic field, thereby producing sound. The planar speaker system may include a top frame having a cavity, and a second set of magnets may be disposed in the cavity of the top frame.

  • Patent number: 8917875
Abstract: A circuit for operating loudspeakers includes a first, second, third and fourth loudspeaker circuit, having one input each for injecting a signal and one output each for connecting a loudspeaker input. The loudspeaker circuits are designed to amplify the injected signal and to provide the amplified signal at the outputs thereof. The loudspeaker circuits can, for example, be used for a 2.1 sound system. The three channels for a 2.1 sound system can be implemented by an amplifier circuit with four loudspeaker circuits, one loudspeaker circuit each being required for the two stereo channels left and right. A subwoofer channel can be driven differentially by two loudspeaker circuits. The stereo channels are, by contrast, only still connected to one loudspeaker circuit each, and so the stereo channels require at least one further common ground cable.

Abstract: The invention provides, in some aspects, an audio headphone suitable for conversion to a loudspeaker. The device includes one or more earcups, each having a concavity that includes first and second volumetric regions and a wall that seals the regions from one another. The first volumetric region defines a space that receives a pinnea when the headphone is worn by a user, and the second volumetric region has one or more active drivers (a/k/a “speakers”). The wall includes one or more active diaphragms of those one or more active drivers. Those diaphragms generate front waves directed into the first volumetric region and back waves directed (back) into the second volumetric region. A passive radiator that is elastically mounted in the wall passes to the first volume from the second volume at least a portion of back waves generated by one or more of the active diaphragms. The invention provides, in other aspects, portable loudspeakers constructed in a manner of the earcups described above.
