  • Patent number: 5671882
Abstract: A piece of goods to be packaged is wrapped in a wrapping sheet of flexible packaging material made of two different layers or laminated composite materials. Two overlapping marginal areas of the packaging material are sealed or glued together to form the bottom of the package. The layer or laminated composite material that faces the packaged goods within the top marginal area of packaging material has one or several cut-outs, through which both overlapping marginal areas of packaging material are interconnected.

  • Patent number: 5048749
Abstract: An improved sealing end closure for a "pillow" type paperboard container, according to which end flaps from opposing side panels are sealed together in a unique manner. The invention relates to a reclosable container, and more particularly relates to a pillow-shaped sealed container of paperboard or the like which is suitable for maintaining freshness of snack foods or similar items, and which can be reclosed after opening. In particular embodiments of the invention, the end closure utilizes the locking characteristics of end flaps attached to side panels by arcuate scores in a novel manner in order to provide a container which can be sealed efficiently and inexpensively, and then easily reclosed by repositioning the end flaps without the need for any additional locking mechanism. The end flaps are positioned to meet and form a seal along the transverse centerline of the container end. In one embodiment, tape is used to make the seal.

  • Patent number: 5044777
Abstract: A package is described comprising a bag with a pair of face D joined by longitudinally extending centrally projecting gussets. The bottom of the bag has a strong permanent seal and the top has a rupturable seal formed from thermoplastic adhesive that allows the top to open during popping to form a vent. The bottom seal includes adhesive seals that extend diagonally from the center of the bag obliquely toward the side edges and is pinched shut to provide a fin seal across the entire lower end of the bag. The top seal has diagonal adhesive seals on each side which are constructed and arranged to provide free-standing, outwardly projecting triangular corner flaps with sealed edges on each side. Their diagonal edges intersect at two spaced apart points near the center of the bag. The points at the intersecting ends of the four flaps define the steam vent area for the bag.

  • Patent number: 4925317
Abstract: A flexible intermediate container has at least one improved lifting loop formed by joining integral extensions of a side wall structures. The extensions are at their upper free ends cut to form at least two flaps which are positioned above or below the extensions on both sides of a folding line or seam, thus forming a lifting loop joint comprising frictional area of overlapping layers of fabric material. Friction therebetween is secured by a frictional agent such 2500 glue or hot-melt and/or by a mechanical device. The lifting loop can be gathered together and surrounded by at least one band or sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4826329
Abstract: The flexible bag comprises a container of flexible plastics material having an internal sheet and an external sheet which define a sealed chamber which can be filled with air at low pressure. The sealed chamber is composed of a series of tubes separated by welded seams but in communication with each other. The air causes the container to assume a substantially parallelepipedic external shape and produces an internal housing which is defined by the internal flexible sheet and which is capable of housing an office machine, for example a portable typewriter. The container comprises two handles projecting from the parallelepipedic shape, for facilitating transportation of the container itself, and a valve to permit the container to be inflated only when it is to be used for the protection or transportation of the machine. The container may be easily deflated and in that case can be re-folded on to itself in order substantially to reduce its bulk.

  • Patent number: 4680808
Abstract: A receptacle for use in compacting liquid laden trash and removal of liquid from said trash. The receptable is a bag made from a porous fabric of hydrophobic material which resists leakage of the liquid within the trash. The bag is crushed within a compactor causing liquid to pass out through the wall of the bag. The receptacle includes means to suspend the bag with the opening up in the compactor and to close the opening once the receptacle is removed from the compactor. A handle on the receptacle facilitates removal of the filled receptacle.
