Fixed Pivot Axis Patents (Class 384/205)
  • Patent number: 11933354
Abstract: A loader slot bearing includes a housing and a truncated ball. The housing has an interior area that is defined by an inner bearing surface which has a concave contour defining a circumference. A single slot extends axially partway into the inner bearing surface and has a slot arc section area extending axially inward. The slot arc section area has a first circumferential slot-end, a second circumferential slot-end, and a slot arc length measured between the first circumferential slot-end and the second circumferential slot-end. A ratio of the slot arc length to the circumference of the interior area is about 0.20 to 0.35. The truncated ball has a convex exterior surface. The truncated ball is positioned in the slot and rotated so that the truncated ball is rotatably retained by the inner bearing surface. The truncated ball is angularly misalignable relative to the annular housing.

  • Patent number: 9976597
Abstract: A bearing assembly can be used in liquid service applications where the bearing assembly is intermittently or continuously exposed to liquid, such as below the liquid level of a solid-liquid extractor. In some examples, the bearing assembly includes an annular sleeve and an annular bearing. The annular sleeve is designed to be installed over the end of a rotatable shaft and positioned inside of a housing through which the rotatable shaft at least partially protrudes. The annular sleeve has an outer surface and length parallel to the rotational axis of the rotatable shaft. The outer surface of the annular sleeve may taper radially inwardly along at least a portion of the length of the sleeve. As a result, the bearing assembly and rotatable shaft positioned therein may pivot within housing about the taper of the annular sleeve.

  • Publication number: 20150049969
Abstract: The invention relates to a radial bearing, comprising a housing, a housing bore extending along a bearing axis, several tilting segments that are arranged around the bearing axis in order to support a shaft and each have a radially outer bearing surface, by means of which the tilting segments are supported on a supporting surface on the housing. The radially outer bearing surface of each tilting segment and the supporting surface are arranged facing each other. Each tilting segment is movably arranged relative to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20140182654
Abstract: A solar energy collection system can include support devices made with bearings. Such bearings can include an inner partially toroidal surface for sliding contact and support of an outer surface of a torque tube. The toroidal surface can be made with a single radius of curvature or multiple radiuses of curvature and cylindrical portions. The bearings can include connectors for connecting the bearing members to a support housing. The connectors can be tool-less connectors.

  • Publication number: 20110188789
Abstract: There is disclosed a bearing to support a rotating shaft. The bearing includes a cylindrical housing defining a central opening. A plurality of bearing pads integrally coupled to the housing with each bearing pad having a circumferential surface defining a portion of the central opening. A plurality of pins disposed in a bore defined in the housing, with each pin aligned as a pivot for each corresponding pad. Each pad can tilt about the pin in relation to the rotating shaft. Each pad is coupled to the housing by a pair of webs defined by a plurality of cuts forming a plurality of openings in the housing substantially parallel to a line tangent with the circumferential surface of the pad. Each pin is aligned parallel with the rotating pad.

  • Patent number: 6709183
Abstract: A joint having a metal or plastic core and a metal or plastic outer shell. The core has two studs extending in a direction of an axis of rotation and arranged vertically at 180° from each other. The outer shell consists of two half shells, each having a reinforcing segment. A bore with a bore base is provided on each reinforcing segment. Two cup-shaped elastomeric pads are located between the core and the outer shell and are insulated from one another. The elastomeric pads surround the studs which penetrate the bore in the reinforcing segments. A ratio of the stud diameter to the pad thickness is specified.

  • Patent number: 5969450
Abstract: An armature assembly for use in a motor has an annual creepage shield received on the armature shaft between the bearing and the commutator. The creepage shield has a first face adjacent to the commutator, and a second face adjacent to the bearing. The second face has at least one generally annular surface interruption to increase effective creepage distance between the commutator and the bearing.

  • Patent number: 5360274
Abstract: A self-aligning bearing for a 0.5 kW PMDC electric motor has a bearing member having a cylindrical inner surface for receiving a rotatable shaft and an outer surface comprising a first external, part-spherical, surface-of-revolution and a second external surface-of-revolution comprising a first part extending inwardly from the first external, part-spherical, surface-of-revolution and a cylindrical second part extending from the first part. A housing has a convergent end defining an internal surface of revolution which engages the first external, part-spherical, surface-of-revolution and encloses a retainer engaging the first part of the second external surface-of-revolution. The housing also encloses a support ring which holds the retainer in place and has a radially inner part which surrounds the second part of the second external surface-of-revolution with a clearance space. The support ring thereby limits tilting movement of the bearing member about axes perpendicular to the axis of the bearing member.
