  • Patent number: 10598214
Abstract: A bearing element has at least one inner ring element and at least one outer ring element, wherein, between the inner ring element and the outer ring element, a sliding bearing system is disposed that is formed by at least two sliding bearings. The sliding bearings have a sliding face, which cooperates with a running face of the opposite ring element. In the new condition of the sliding bearing, the sliding face of the sliding bearing, viewed in cross section, has at least one first sub-portion and one second sub-portion, wherein a tangent constructed on the first sub-portion is disposed at a first angle relative to the central longitudinal axis and a tangent constructed on the second sub-portion is disposed at a second angle relative to the central longitudinal axis, wherein the first angle has a magnitude different from that of the second angle.

  • Patent number: 5713671
Abstract: An adjustable bearing assembly includes a bearing housing and a bearing body fixed to a carrier and disposed within the housing. Set screws are provided to adjustably position the carrier, hence the bearing body relative to the housing without disassembling the bearing. After the bearing body position has been adjusted, cap screws are employed to fix the carrier against movement relative to the housing and relative to a support surface. In an alternate embodiment, the carrier is in engagement with an inner eccentric ring which, in turn, is engaged by an outer eccentric ring, both rotatably mounted within the housing. The axes of the eccentric rings are spaced from one another and are parallel to the axis of the rotating shaft. Rotation of the eccentric rings relative to one another and to the housing adjusts the position of the bearing body.

  • Patent number: 5689146
Abstract: A conical bearing system includes a first conical bearing having an integral shaft and a second conical bearing defining a bore having a shaft mating bore section and a threaded bore section. The system is assembled by applying adhesive to the shaft and inserting the shaft into the shaft mating bore section. A threaded screw is then screwed into the threaded bore section until the screw abuts the shaft. Then torque is applied to the screw to push against the shaft thereby causing the second conical bearing to move axially. Once the adhesive has cured, the screw may optionally be removed.

  • Patent number: 5613402
Abstract: An adjustable set bearing for a gear assembly for a power seat adjuster on a vehicle, wherein the gear assembly couples a motor output shaft to a lead screw. The gear assembly is contained in a housing assembly and includes a first gear rotatably mounted to the housing and having connecting means to the motor output shaft. The first gear has end journals and a worm disposed therebetween. A second gear is carried for rotation on the lead screw and is in meshing engagement with the first gear. The housing assembly includes adjustable supporting means for supporting an end journal. The adjustable supporting means includes an adjustable set bearing that is threadably insertable into an access port into contact with an end journal. The adjustable set bearing has an inner smooth concentric surface for supporting an end journal of the worm and allowing rotatable movement of the end journal.

  • Patent number: 5286116
Abstract: An improved motor and bearing assembly is provided for use in an axial gap electric motor. The motor and bearing assembly includes a bearing support, bearing cones circumferentially mounted on the bearing support and a rotating bearing member. Each bearing cone has an axial conical surface at one end. The conical surfaces face each other to form a V-shaped cross-sectional groove. The rotating bearing member includes two rotating bearing rings abutting one another, each ring having an angularly disposed surface forming a V-shaped configuration complementary to the V-shaped groove of the bearing cones. The rotating bearing member provides axial and radial support of the rotor of the axial gap electric motor. Each of the bearing cones is axially movable relative to the bearing support, thereby permitting the stator-to-rotor gap and the bearing clearance to be adjusted after final assembly.

  • Patent number: 4639147
Abstract: A pivot assembly has a substantial amount of inherent frictional torque. A shaft has a clearance space between itself and a wall of its journal hole. A pliable tubular bushing is axially compressed within the shaft clearance space to create rotational friction between the shaft and the bearing journal. Such an assembly has diverse applications in areas such as the swivel for sailboat tiller extensions, toilet seat lid hinges, and hinged covers for electronic cabinets or other equipment.
