  • Patent number: 8727633
Abstract: A bearing support assembly (10) comprising a bearing (12) supported within a bearing block (14) is provided. A shaft (26) is arranged to rotate within the bearing (12) and a disc member (34) is carried on the shaft (26) proximate to the bearing block (14). A ring member (20) is secured to the bearing block (14) so that in the event of bearing failure the disc member (34) engages with the ring member (20) so as to support the shaft (26) in rotational motion. The disc member has a diameter that is larger than the outer diameter of the ring member. The ring member (20) is at least partially recessed into the thickness of the disc member (34). The assembly may be utilized in agricultural machinery which include rotors (30) which are supported on rotating shafts. • Patent number: 8690442
Abstract: A bearing for attaching a wind turbine blade to a wind turbine hub, includes a stationary ring, a movable ring which can rotate relative to the stationary ring, a grease lubrication structure, and a canister for collecting grease. The grease lubrication structure forms an outlet for releasing grease from a space between the stationary ring and the movable ring and the canister comprises an inner space with at least one inlet in releasable fluid communication with the outlet. The outlet and the inlet comprise cooperating coupling elements adapted for releasable snap-connection of the outlet to the inlet. Due to the snap-connection, the canister is easily removed and replaced in connection with maintenance of the wind turbine even though the space in the hub is typically very limited.

Abstract: A bushing for rotatably supporting a journal comprises a cylindrical wall having an inner bearing surface configured and dimensioned to surround the journal. Oil is supplied continuously to a lubricated zone between the journal and the bearing surface. The thus supplied oil escapes in opposite directions from inboard and outboard ends of the lubricated zone. A circular channel is positioned to capture oil escaping from the outboard end of the lubricated zone. A drain conveys oil captured in the channel back in the direction of oil escaping from the inboard end of the lubricated zone.

  • Patent number: 6881603
Abstract: A phase change memory with a very limited area of contact between the lower electrode and the phase change material may be formed by defining a closed geometric structure for the lower electrode. The lower electrode may then be covered. The covering may then be opened in a very narrow strip extending across the closed geometric shape using phase shift masking. A phase change material may be formed in the opening. Because the opening effectively bisects the closed geometric structure of the lower electrode, two very small contact areas may be created for contacting the lower electrode to the phase change material.

  • Patent number: 5011385
Abstract: A bearing arrangement and drive transmission arrangement of a rotary piston internal combustion engine having trochoidal-shaped casing mantle raceway surfacing and having a triangular piston controlled by a synchronous drive transmission consisting of a hollow gear and a pinion, with which the teeth of the hollow gear are machined or worked out of a piston bore extending over the entire width by impact pushing/cutting and broaching. A further bore is concentrically provided in the piston bore and extends from a side remote from the synchronous drive transmission as far as to the hollow gear and of which teeth only tooth butt ends are left standing upon which a bearing sleeve of the eccentric bearing is pressed thereon. Cooling passages or channels result between the bearing sleeve and the tooth butt ends. Transfer of contact heat from the piston onto the eccentric bearing is considerably reduced by engagement of the bearing sleeve only upon the tooth butt ends.
