Abstract: A ball bearing rail assembly includes a first slide member (100), a second slide member (200), and a plurality of ball bearings (300) movably retained in the first slide member. The first slide member includes a plurality of spoon-like tabs (12), each tab forming a recessed portion (120) at a free end thereof. A plurality of slots (14) is defined in the first slide member, each slot having a generally oval end portion (140). The recessed portions of the tabs fittingly and resiliently press the ball bearings against the first slide member at the oval portions of the slots respectively. Each ball bearing is partially exposed out of the first slide member at a corresponding oval portion of the slot. • Patent number: 6280087
Abstract: A guide for a high speed steel rolling mill comprises two rolling members, between which the work product passes mounted for rotation on a base member. Each roller has a frusto-conically shaped bearing recess formed therein and each guide roller is mounted on a mating, frusto-conically shaped projection which protrudes from the base member. Each of the projections has a central oil duct which serves to feed a lubricating oil under pressure into the frusto-conically shaped space between the roller and its mating projection. The lubricating oil serves to form a film between the stationary projection and the rotating guide roller. Because of the conically shaped mating surface, the lubricating oil tends to “lift” the guide roller from the surface of the supporting base. Each rolling member is provided with a vane structure to permit the rolling member to be prespun by the impingement of a cooling fluid on the vane surface thereof.

  • Patent number: 6030126
Abstract: The Two Axis Track Roller is in the form of two sealed bearings mounted to a single stud which allows the device to carry loads in two dimensional axis. In this way the device can carry a load along a track as well as guide along a track wall. When used in pairs the device can be "pre-loaded" which allows for precise guiding of linear motion. The conventional bearing used provide internal balls and rollers which ride on their internal precision ground and hardened surfaces. The external bearing surfaces thus can ride on non hardened track surfaces whose precision is dictated only by the application requirements. Since the bearings are sealed the bearing balls and rollers do not come in contact with environmental contaminants so bearing life is increased.

  • Patent number: 5831764
Abstract: A drive system for the conversion of a rotary motion into a linear motion contains a belt drive similar to a block and pulley system, and a system of a rack and pinion that is driven synchronously with the belt drive. The pinion and the rack are adjusted with respect to each other such that the teeth of the pinion engage with relatively large play in the rack. When driving under normal load, the drive takes place without loading of the rack and pinion system by the belt drive, so that the reversal backlash and the play of the rack and pinion system remain without effect on the displacement motion. When an overloading of the moving part and a corresponding stretching of the drive belt occur, the tooth flanks of the pinion and of the rack are supported against each other and in this manner prevent tearing or overloading of the drive belt.
