Cup-shaped Bearing Patents (Class 384/905.1)
  • Patent number: 10443575
Abstract: A wind turbine generator includes a gearbox, wherein the gearbox includes a planetary gear system, wherein the planetary gear system includes a carrier assembly, wherein the carrier assembly includes a carrier supporting at least one planetary gear that is rotatably mounted through a bearing on a shaft, wherein the shaft is fixed in a bore defined by the carrier. The carrier assembly includes interlocking means to prevent angular movement of the shaft relative to the bore. This improves the robustness of the coupling between the shaft and the bore of the carrier.

  • Patent number: 8382599
Abstract: A universal joint arrangement with a journal cross, supported by bearings in two joint yokes offset to one another by 90°. Each joint yoke comprises a flange and two bearings. Each bearing has an axial bearing pressure disk that is supported by a first connection element on the joint yoke and a second connection element on the journal cross to form a first and second friction pairing. One of the connection elements has at least one elevated support region facing the axial bearing pressure disk. The support region is arranged in the region of low relative movement of the joint yoke with the journal cross, while the regions other than the support region lie in the region of greatest relative motion.

  • Patent number: 6685360
Abstract: A needle bearing cup includes an inner bearing cup having an inner surface which forms a rolling element raceway and an outer bearing cup disposed about the periphery of the inner bearing cup having a length greater than a length of the inner bearing cup to form a lip. The lip of the outer bearing cup is then formed to retain rolling elements within the inner bearing cup. Preferably, the rolling elements are needle rollers and the inner bearing cup is secured to an outer bearing cup by mechanical lock in the form of a protruding portion extending from the outer bearing cup. The bearing cup may be double drawn with first and second sheet metal blanks forming the inner and outer bearing cups.

  • Patent number: 6406187
Abstract: A grease lock seal with sealing lips angled inwardly towards the internal bearing components is press fit into a bearing cup assembly to prevent grease from being purged due to centrifugal forces introduced during the rotational operation of the system. As the plurality of sealing lips retain grease in the system, the system does not have to be re-greased. If one desires to re-grease the system, the grease lock seal can further include a plurality of grease purge channels which create a path for used grease to be purged. As internal pressure increases during regreasing, the used grease flows through the grease purge channels and out of the system. However, the grease purge channels are small enough so that grease does not escape from the system during normal operation.

  • Patent number: 6334714
Abstract: A shell type needle roller bearing for a universal joint is provided which can eliminate radial gaps. A plurality of needle rollers are mounted in an outer ring which has a cylindrical portion adapted to be fitted in a bearing ring formed in a bifurcated piece of a yoke and having a bottom at one end. The cylindrical portion is formed by three arcuate wall portions having equal circumferential lengths to each other. When a trunnion of a universal joint is inserted into the shell type needle roller bearing, the arcuate wall portions are resiliently deformed radially outwardly through the needle rollers, so that the needle rollers are pressed against the outer circumferential surface of the trunnion by the recovering resilience. This prevents formation of radial gaps.

  • Patent number: 6264566
Abstract: A universal joint assembly includes a cross having a plurality of trunnions extending outwardly therefrom. A bearing cup is disposed about each of the trunnions, and a plurality of needle bearings is disposed between each of the bearing cups and its associated trunnion to facilitate relative rotational movement. A thrust washer is disposed between the outer end surface of each of the trunnions and its associated bearing cup. Each of the thrust washers is generally annular in shape, including a first inner annular region surrounded by a second outer annular region. The inner region is sized to extend between the outer end surface of the trunnion and the associated inner surface of the end portion of the bearing cup. The outer region is sized to extend between the outer ends of the needle bearings and the associated inner A surfaces of the end portions of the bearing cup. The outer region is connected to and supported on the inner region by a plurality of radially extending legs.
