  • Patent number: 8600211
Abstract: [Object] To reproduce a plurality of video contents recorded on a recording medium on one screen and select and reproduce any of the video contents without using a plurality of dedicated decoders. [Solving Means] A recording/reproducing apparatus (100) reads single angle videos (21) that are shot from a plurality of angles and a multi-angle video (22) obtained by performing authoring on those single angle videos (21) so as to be reproducible on one screen from a BD-ROM (10), combines a time-line operation bar (61) and a cursor (66) with the multi-angle video (22), and displays a multi-angle screen (60). When an operation of selecting a single angle video (21) on which the cursor (66) is positioned is performed on the multi-angle screen (60), the single angle video (21) is reproduced in full screen based on a time code at a time when the selection operation is made.

Abstract: A “hold” feature on a user operated remote control allows a currently displayed track or view to be maintained while a video presentation is being played. As a user is watching a presentation that uses multiple camera views shown one-at-a-time as in a standard edited cut (i.e., “director's cut”) of a movie, the user can press a button when the user sees a camera view or scene of particular interest. Thereafter, the track associated with the camera view or scene that was showing when the hold button was pressed will continue to be played in place of the presentation. To return to the edited cut the user depresses the hold button again. The held track will continue to play until the user decides to resume presentation of the edited program or until the held track ends. Upon ending, the program track is resumed. While holding a track the user is free to select other available tracks in addition to jumping back to the program track at any time.

In particular, the present invention involves centralized recording of the event in one or more modes including video, audio, and still image recordings and a system that enables a participant (i.e., one who perceives the event) to select portions of the event recording substantially contemporaneously with the event occurrence. A personalized record is made by duplicating the selected portions from the event record. In a particular example, the personalized record is recorded on a digital media such as a compact disc (CD) or digital video disk (DVD) or the like.
