Abstract: An intelligent image sensory system includes its own embedded or modular image processing capability. The intelligent image sensory system may capture, process, and content classify digital frames. Each digital frame may be classified as permissible or objectionable, according to trainable content rules and policies. The intelligent image sensory system conducts a real time, frame-by-frame content analysis to avoid sharing of personal/sensitive data. An audio input system may also be controlled, based on the content of each frame.

Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards integrated tools for editing and otherwise working with close-captioning captions (or subtitles), including an on-screen editing interface that allows a user to select and edit caption text directly on-screen. Caption editing can include changing positioning metadata associated with a caption, changing timing metadata associated with a caption, and/or changing text content/text style metadata of a caption. A counter is provided to assist the user with respect to how many additional characters can be added to the caption. Also provided is a search interface that locates captions within a large set of captions, such as the full set of captions for a video.

The subtitle parsing step includes: dividing a subtitle file into a plurality of subtitle blocks, each of the subtitle blocks including a plurality of subtitle contents, each of the subtitle contents corresponding to a subtitle time; generating an index table that records characteristic times of the subtitle blocks. The subtitle reading step, for reading a target subtitle content corresponding to a current time, includes: identifying a target subtitle block corresponding to the current time and the characteristic times recorded in the index table; and reading the target subtitle content of the target subtitle block according to the current time.

Abstract: An audio decoding method is provided. In the audio decoding method, a synchronization word and a corresponding packet header are inserted at the beginning of each packet data. A position of the packet data is confirmed according to the synchronization word, and the packet data is then decoded according to information in the packet header. Accordingly, when an error occurs during the decoding process, the decoding process skips to a next packet data for decoding to avoid noise. In addition, a packet header can be directly accessed in the situation of a fast-forward operation to obtain decoding information of the packet data to perform audio decoding.

Abstract: In one aspect, a method involves (i) selecting a log-entry, wherein the log entry corresponds to a streaming-video source; (ii) causing streaming video to start being channeled from the streaming-video source to an air-chain system; (iii) making a determination that the log-entry includes a special identifier; (iv) responsive to making the determination, causing a recording device to start recording the streaming video; (v) causing a set of commercial VCs to be sent to the air-chain system; (vi) causing the recording device to stop recording the streaming video; (vii) determining a beginning and an ending position of at least two show-segment VCs included in the recorded video, wherein the at least two show-segments are separated by a commercial break; and (viii) for each of the show-segment VCs included in the recorded video, assigning a corresponding segment identifier and the corresponding determined beginning and ending positions to the recorded video.

An interactive television program guide provides users with an opportunity to select programs for recording on a remote media server. Programs may also be recorded on a local media server. The system further comprises a text adjuster configured to move the text to the unused region above or below the video, wherein the text adjuster further aligns the text to at least one of the edges of the video and the edges of the display device.

Abstract: A closed caption tagging system provides a mechanism for inserting tags into an audio or video television broadcast stream prior to or at the time of transmission. The tags contain command and control information that the receiver translates and acts upon. The receiver receives the broadcast stream and detects and processes the tags within the broadcast stream which is stored on a storage device that resides on the receiver. Program material from the broadcast stream is played back to the viewer from the storage device. Tags indicate the start and end points of a program segment. Program segments such as commercials are automatically replaced by the receiver with new program segments that are selected based on various criteria.

A video file includes spoken words in a source language, subtitles in the source language, and subtitles in a native language of an end user (a target language). Both sets of subtitles are displayed simultaneously as the video is played by the end user.

A textual transcript of audio associated with a video is displayed along with the video. The textual transcript may be displayed in the form of a series of textual captions or in other form. The textual transcript is enabled to be searched according to search criteria. Portions of the transcript that match the search criteria may be highlighted, enabling those portions of the transcript to be accessed and viewed relatively quickly. A plurality of successive frames subsequent to the start frame is analyzed to identify pre-defined textual elements in the frame. Analyzing the frames includes filtering the frames to remove non-textual elements and increase the visibility of the textual elements contained therein. A confidence rating is calculated for the identified textual elements according to some embodiments.

Abstract: A caption translation system is described herein that provides a way to reach a greater world-wide audience when displaying video content by providing dynamically translated captions based on the language the user has selected for their browser. The system provides machine-translated captions to accompany the video content by determining the language the user has selected for their browser or a manual language selection of the user. The system uses the language value to invoke an automated translation application-programming interface that returns translated caption text in the selected language. The system can use one or more well-known caption formats to store the translated captions, so that video playing applications that know how to consume captions can automatically display the translated captions. The video playing application plays back the video file and displays captions in the user's language.
