With At Least One Audio Signal Patents (Class 386/285)
  • Patent number: 8509601
Abstract: A method and computing system for seamlessly inserting a local audio clip into a primary audio stream. The method sends the primary audio stream to an audio output port, and determines main parameters for the primary audio stream. The method receives a request to insert an encoded local audio clip, locates an insertion point in the primary audio stream that coincides with an end of a frame boundary, and identifies a best matching encoded local audio clip for the main parameters. The method receives and sends the best matching encoded local audio clip to the audio output port, stores the primary audio stream in a buffer while sending the best matching encoded local audio clip, and resumes the sending of the primary audio stream when the sending of the best matching encoded local audio clip is complete.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for editing digital picture computer files and digital audio computer files is disclosed herein. The apparatus and method for editing involves recording digital picture files and digital audio files. The digital picture files are copied onto a storage area network, and loaded onto a data storage system. Metadata from the digital picture files is uploaded onto a metadata database. The digital picture files on the storage area network are compressed. The compressed digital picture files are combined and synchronized with their corresponding digital audio files. These resultant digital files are then organized with their corresponding metadata. Once the metadata is incorporated into the resultant digital files, the files are edited and an editing decision list document as well as editing instructions are generated. Digital picture files are downloaded from the data storage system and conformed with digital audio files to produce the final media product.

Abstract: Overlay to augment quality of currently playing media. The overlay operates to enhance the quality format of media so that it is output in a different quality format. As one example, when playing media content encoded in accordance with a standard definition television (SDTV) quality format, an appropriate overlay would operate to upgrade the quality format thereof to enhanced definition television (EDTV) quality format, high definition television (HDTV) quality format (or some other quality format). An appropriate overlay may also operate in accordance with audio content (e.g., upgrading a quality format of the audio content). With the advent of Blu-Ray discs (and other higher quality format discs), many individuals presently have libraries of media that are encoded with legacy/previous quality formats. An appropriate overlay that operates in conjunction with media encoded with a legacy/previous quality format allows the same content to be enjoyed in accordance with a newer/improved quality format.

Recording of video tracks by digital electronic devices to complement the audio is also contemplated. One device serves as a master; the remainder are slaves. A key aspect of the invention is the transmission of start and stop recording signals by the master, which facilitates synchronization of the various tracks. In certain embodiments of the invention, some slaves may begin preliminary sampling of audio information prior to the start recording signal. This prepares these slaves to begin the actual track recording without delay. Upon receiving the command to start recording, each slave chooses as the first frame of its, say, audio track that sample closest to the time the signal to record was received. The task of stopping recording is typically handled similarly.

  • Patent number: 8213775
Abstract: An information processing apparatus and method for providing images which coincide in reproduction time and atmosphere with BGM as a slideshow to a user. From sound data to be used for production of BGM, a head no-sound interval detection section detects a head no-sound interval and a tail no-sound interval detection section detects a tail no-sound interval while a tail fade-out interval detection section detects a tail fade-out interval. A play interval specification section specifies a play interval of the sound data other than the head and tail no-sound intervals, and an image content allocation section allocates photo album information and effect data to the play interval to produce vector data. A fade-out process setting section updates the vector data so that a fade-out process may be applied to images within the tail fade-out interval.

  • Patent number: 8195034
Abstract: A video processing method for detecting significant events from a video program includes computing short-time sub-band energies in the audio for plural audio sub-bands, detecting scene boundaries where a weighted sum of these short-time sub-band energies are less energy threshold for longer than an time interval, segmenting the video program into a plurality of scenes by the boundaries, removing scenes shorter than a segment time interval and classifying and ranking the remaining scenes by audio. A second segmenting and removal is based upon a second energy threshold and a second time interval or when energy in a lowest frequency sub-band is greater than a predetermined bass energy threshold. The first segment time interval may be recomputed based upon the distribution of length of the remaining scenes.

Abstract: An apparatus for processing an audio signal and method thereof are disclosed. The preset invention includes receiving object information and a downmix signal including at least one object, the object information comprising data type information and at least one of object gain and object gain ratio; determining whether preset information to render the object is included in the extension region of the object information, based on the data type information; generating initial preset information to render the object by using at least one of the object gain and the object gain ration, if the preset information is not included in the object information; and rendering the object being included the downmix signal by using the initial preset information. Accordingly, even if preset information is not received, it is able to reconstruct an audio signal by generating initial preset information using received object information.
