  • Patent number: 9807853
Abstract: A lighting device that is capable of discriminating a type of an external power source device connected from among types of connectable devices without increasing the number of terminals of a connector. A connector is electrically connectable to an external power source device and includes a first terminal for supplying electric power from the external power source device to a main capacitor and a second terminal for discriminating a type of the external power source device. An obtaining unit obtains the information for discriminating the type of the external power source device by comparing a voltage value of a signal input to the second terminal from the external power source device with a predetermined voltage threshold when an attribute of the second terminal is set to an input. A discrimination unit discriminates the type of the external power source device by contrasting the information obtained with information stored.

The high/low load drive modes drive a device under high/low loads. The first power-voltage detector detects a power-voltage by connecting a load. The second power-voltage detector detects the voltage across the device. The first power-voltage detector is actuated at the beginning of sequential shooting before a first image capturing operation starts. The high load image capturing operation starts when the voltage detected by the first power-voltage detector is higher than a first threshold. The low load image capturing operation starts when the voltage detected by the first power-voltage detector is lower than the first threshold. • Patent number: 8085341
Abstract: A digital camera has a battery that supplies electric power, a battery level detector, a time detector, a remaining voltage calculator, and a boot controller. When the digital camera is turned off, the battery level detector detects a remaining voltage level of the battery. When the digital camera is turned on, the time detector detects an elapsed time from the last electric power OFF operation to the current electric power ON operation, namely, a time period in which the camera is in the OFF state. Further, when the digital camera is turned on, the remaining voltage calculator calculates a remaining voltage-level of the battery on the basis of the detected elapsed time, the last detected remaining voltage level, and the discharge characteristic of the battery. Then, the boot controller allows the digital camera to boot if the calculated remaining voltage level is larger than a limited voltage necessary to boot the digital camera.

  • Patent number: 6347191
Abstract: A shutter control apparatus is constructed for executing an exposure operation of a camera to photograph an object by controlling an actuator which drives a shutter blade to be opened and closed. In the shutter control apparatus, a battery supplies a power supply voltage. A detection circuit detects a variation occurring in the power supply voltage. A drive circuit directly uses the power supply voltage to feed a power to the actuator. The drive circuit switches between an open power for opening the shutter blade and a closing power for closing the shutter blade. A control circuit controls the drive circuit by setting a timing for switching to the closing power in accordance with at least a brightness of an object. The control circuit corrects the timing for switching to the closing power in accordance with the variation of the power supply voltage detected by the detection circuit.

Abstract: The present invention provides a user-friendly camera having a silver-salt picture-taking function and an electronic-image pickup function. The camera includes a silver-salt picture-taking unit and an electronic-image pickup unit. The electronic-image pickup unit picks up an electronic image, which is almost equivalent to a subject image exposed to a silver-salt film, in synchronization with the exposure to the silver-salt film in the silver-salt picture-taking unit. Prior to the exposure, a control circuit causes a battery check circuit to check a power supply battery and causes a determination circuit to determine a result of the battery check while referring to a determination-level storage circuit, thereby properly controlling the silver-salt picture-taking unit and the electronic-image pickup unit so as to prevent the electronic-image pickup unit from performing its pickup operation in the subsequent picture-taking operations.

Abstract: A magnetic recording and regenerating unit for photographic film and a camera, which feed photographic film coated with a magnetic recording layer, records magnetic information in the magnetic recording layer, and regenerates magnetic information from the magnetic recording layer. In the magnetic recording and regenerating unit for a camera, the number of turns of a coil wound around a core included in a magnetic head is small. Thus, one magnetic head is able to record and regenerate magnetic information. The number of turns of the coil is determined so as to output a regenerated waveform which does not enable reading of the magnetic information but permits determination of whether any magnetic information is recorded or not. Whether any magnetic information is recorded or not is determined based on the output voltage from a smoothing circuit, a peak hold circuit, etc. which receive signals output from the magnetic head via an amplifier.

Abstract: In a method for loading a camera frame assembly having an flash circuit powered by a battery, a battery is placed in a battery compartment of a camera frame assembly. Film is scrolled in the camera frame assembly. The scrolling generates a static charge on the camera frame assembly. The static charge is dissipated. During the scrolling and dissipating, the battery is retained within the battery compartment, but is isolated from the flash circuit. Following the dissipating, electrically conductive contact is established between the battery and the flash circuit.

Abstract: A camera including a battery check device, having a plurality of battery check levels, to inactivate auxiliary devices of the camera according to a detected battery voltage level, and to modify the battery check level depending on the auxiliary devices used for taking photographs. The remaining capacity of the battery is detected and compared with the plurality of battery check levels and the activation of the plurality of devices is prohibited in a specified order, for example, in order of lower priority, or in order of larger power consumption, as the detected value of the remaining battery capacity decreases. The battery check level can be modified based on the auxiliary devices which are inactivated by an operator. A photographic operation can be continued without missing a shutter opportunity as long as a sufficient battery capacity remains to activate the devices necessary for taking photographs.
