Abstract: A video processing device includes: a frame number generating unit that generates frame numbers representing respective frames to which successively supplied video data belongs, the frame numbers differing between one frame and a next frame; a writing unit that writes a data block including a piece of the video data and the frame number corresponding thereto in a frame memory for every frame; a reading unit that reads out the data block written in the frame memory in the order of frames; and a video freezing determination unit that generates an abnormality determination signal that indicates video freezing when a current value of the frame number of the data block read stays the same as a previous value over a prescribed number of times.

Abstract: If a movie reproducing apparatus detects an error during reproduction of encoded movie data, based on management information that includes a recording position of an intra-picture coded picture included in the encoded movie data, the movie reproducing apparatus determines a position used when the error is recovered by searching for an intra-picture coded picture subsequent to a frame including data with the error as well as updates elapsed time information to be displayed based on a frame number of the searched intra-picture coded picture at the time the error is recovered.

Abstract: A camera capable of detecting an abnormality has photographing operation programs, an abnormality detection program, and a checking operation program installed therein. The photographing operation programs cause a plurality of mechanisms included in the camera to act sequentially. The abnormality detection program detects an abnormality in an action of a predetermined one of the plurality of mechanisms. Responsive to detection of the abnormality in the action of the predetermined mechanism, as detected by the abnormality detection program, the checking operation program causes the predetermined mechanism alone to act again for checking of the predetermined mechanism under conditions different from those under which the predetermined mechanism has acted to have the abnormality detected by the abnormality detection program.

Abstract: A camera and method are disclosed which provide a photographer with a picture composition guide that may be viewed through the viewfinder. Standard composition points corresponding to golden section points are displayed for the photographer to see. LCD's or LED's are used to display the composition points, and an external display portion allows the photographer to check a display state of the standard composition points.
