Details Of Erase Light Patents (Class 399/186)
  • Patent number: 8938190
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a process unit arranged in the vicinity of the circumference of each photosensitive member and the process unit is configured to act on the photosensitive member in forming a toner image thereon. The image forming apparatus detects a time period since a laser beam emission unit emits a laser beam to the photosensitive member to form an electrostatic latent image for detection until the formed electrostatic latent image for detection or a toner image based on the electrostatic latent image for detection reaches the process unit, and performs color misregistration correction control based on the result of detection. In this case, a control unit at least decreases the light amount of a pre-exposure LED when the electrostatic latent image for detection passes through a position facing the pre-exposure LED.

  • Patent number: 8538308
Abstract: An image forming device includes a rotation member being held rotatably while making contact with an image carrier, a solid lubricant pressed so as to make contact with the rotation member, and a potential application unit for applying a potential to the rotation member, wherein the material of the solid lubricant and the material of the rotation member are selected so that the charged polarity of the solid lubricant charged due to the friction between the rotation member and the solid lubricant becomes identical with the charged polarity of toner, and the potential to be applied to the rotation member is set so as to be higher or lower than the surface potential of the neutralized image carrier so that the charges having the same polarity as the charged polarity of the solid lubricant are attracted from the rotation member to the neutralized image carrier.

  • Patent number: 8290401
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrying body having a surface on which a toner image is formed. A charger charges the surface body and a charge eliminator removes charge from the surface. The charge eliminator includes light sources to generate charge elimination light and a light guide to guide the charge elimination light onto the surface. The light guide includes a first portion to guide the charge elimination light onto an axial central portion of the image carrying body and a second portion to guide the charge elimination light onto axial end portions of the image carrying body. The second light guide portion allows charge elimination light that is incident on the first light guide portion to travel into the second light guide portion, but restricts charge elimination light that is incident on the second light guide portion from traveling into the first light guide portion.

  • Publication number: 20100239280
Abstract: Electric charge remaining on a photoreceptor after transfer causes image deterioration. According to one conventional method widely used in view of this problem, erase light is emitted onto a photoreceptor after the transfer to remove the electric charge remaining on the photoreceptor. However, such a method poses the following problem: emission of erase light leads to light-induced fatigue of the photoreceptor, and as a result, the photoreceptor which has deteriorated from the light-induced fatigue wears down due to abrasion and the like with a cleaner blade, resulting in a shorter lifetime of the photoreceptor. Thus, the thickness of the photosensitive layer is detected to acquire the amount of thickness decrease, and the amount of the erase light is reduced according to the acquired amount of thickness decrease.

  • Patent number: 7498559
Abstract: In an optical discharge apparatus used in an electrographic image forming apparatus, by forming, on a light guiding member, a diffusing reflecting face for reflecting light from an LED lamp towards a photosensitive drum, and by supplementing the amount of light by altering the height of the diffusing reflecting face to the light emitting face and the width of the diffusing reflecting face in accordance with their distance from the light source, the light intensity distribution of the irradiating light that is irradiated onto the photosensitive drum is made uniform. An optical discharge apparatus may include a light guiding member arranged facing a photoreceptor; and a light source, a diffusing reflecting face for reflecting the light from the light source toward the photoreceptor is formed on the light guiding member, and a reflecting member is arranged on an upper face in the vicinity of an end portion of the light guiding member.

  • Patent number: 7395010
Abstract: An image forming apparatus has a charge removing unit (31) between a transfer roller (11) for transferring a toner image from a surface of a photosensitive drum (4) to a transfer member and a charging unit (3) for electrostatically charging the surface of the photosensitive drum (4) approximately uniformly, with respect to a rotation direction of the photosensitive drum (4). The charge removing unit (31) includes LEDs (311) to irradiate the surface of the photosensitive drum (4) with charge-removing light. A support (312) supports the LEDs (311) approximately in a line along an axial direction of the photosensitive drum (4). A position setting mechanism (313) allows a position of the support (312) to be changed selectively in a direction orthogonal to the axis of the photosensitive drum (4). Thus, the image forming apparatus can suppress uneven charge-distribution in the axial direction of the photosensitive drum (4).

Abstract: An image forming apparatus comprising: an image forming section and a residual toner amount detection unit. The image forming section includes a photosensitive member, a charging unit, an exposure unit, a developing unit, and a toner storage unit. The residual toner amount detection unit detects an amount of toner remaining in the developing unit. The residual toner amount detection unit includes a light-emitting element and a light-receiving element. After the toner is deposited on the photosensitive member to form a toner image until electric charge is given onto a photosensitive layer of the photosensitive member by the charging unit again, the light-emitting element removes electric charge remaining on the photosensitive layer.

  • Patent number: 5884125
Abstract: A control circuit for outputting a signal for controlling an amount of light emitted from a plurality of light emitting elements. The control circuit includes a controller or CPU, and a D/A converter outputting a signal for setting a voltage in multiple gradation in accordance with a lighting state of the light emitting element. An amplifying circuit amplifies an output of the D/A converter and outputs an amplified output as a control signal. A reference voltage generating circuit generates a reference voltage and a comparator compares the control signal with the reference voltage. The controller varies an output of the D/A converter based on the result of comparison by the comparator, to adjust the output of the D/A converter so that the control signal is equivalent to the reference voltage. Accordingly each voltage is reset in the multiple gradation to allow the light emitting element to appropriately emit light based on the adjusted output.
