Fountain Patents (Class 399/247)
  • Patent number: 11340535
Abstract: A system and method for creating a fountain solution pattern for digital imaging, can include a charge image bearing surface bearing a charge image, an array of insulated channels, wherein a fountain solution can enter and fills the array of insulated channels by capillary action to a ledge region of the insulated channels in the array of insulated channels, and a scorotron that charges a surface of the fountain solution in the array of insulated channels. The array of insulated channels can be moved into proximity with the charge image on the charge image bearing surface of a digital printer, such that a fountain solution pattern can be developed on the charge image bearing surface with a measured amount of the fountain solution.

  • Patent number: 7639971
Abstract: In an apparatus for the electrographic printing or copying using liquid coloring agents consisting of a carrier liquid and toner particles, including a latent image carrier and at least one supply element in the form of a slot-like supply nozzle via which the liquid toner is applied to the latent image carrier and a suction element by which excess liquid coloring agent is removed from the latent image carrier, a de-coupling channel is arranged between the suction element and the supply element.

  • Patent number: 6766131
Abstract: A liquid electrophotographic developing apparatus including a developing unit with an elongated opening disposed adjacent to a photoreceptor and an air duct provided around the elongated opening. The air flow in the air duct has a predetermined air pressure to hold a liquid developer within a space substantially between the developing unit and the image-bearing surface while permitting toner particles in the liquid developer deposited on the image-bearing surface to be retained by the image—bearing surface and volatile solvent to be vaporized.

  • Patent number: 6687477
Abstract: The present invention provides a toner recycling control system which stably feeds a liquid developer of an appropriate concentration to a liquid developing apparatus employing a high-viscosity liquid developer; appropriately adjusts the concentration of residual developer collected after development and after transfer; and feeds the adjusted developer to the developing apparatus. The toner recycling control system collects a post-development residual developer from a developer-bearing body and a post-transfer residual developer from an image-bearing body; performs developer concentration adjustment to yield an adjusted developer; and feeds the adjusted developer back to the developer-bearing body.

  • Patent number: 5960231
Abstract: A concentrate sense window which defines a variable thickness flow path area is provided for sensing the concentration levels of inks having varying levels of luminance. Sensor window panels are configured in relationship to each other such that an area defined therebetween varies from a first area to a second area. An emitter/detector pair are located on opposite sides of the sensor window. The emitter transmits a signal through the sensor area and at least part of the signal is sensed by the detector. The emitter/detector pair are designed so as to be movable along the surface of the sensor window whereby ink of varying illuminance may be sensed without the need of separate windows or multiple emitter/detector pairs.

  • Patent number: 5926668
Abstract: A wet electrographic printer has (1) a reservoir for supplying a developer obtained by mixing a liquid carrier with an ink to a developing unit, (2) a carrier cartridge for supplying the liquid carrier to the reservoir, (3) an ink cartridge for supplying the ink to the reservoir, and (4) a process tank for receiving the processor from the reservoir. The developer supply method includes the steps of supplying the liquid carrier and the ink to the reservoir to fill the reservoir to a maximum level with developer having an optimum concentration, and determining whether the concentration and level of the developer in the reservoir is less than or equal to a minimum concentration and a minimum level, respectively. If the concentration of the developer is less than or equal to the minimum concentration and the level is higher than the minimum level, the developer is drained from the reservoir to the process tank until the level of the developer falls to the minimum level.
