Abstract: A management apparatus that enhances efficiency of maintenance work of a plurality of image forming apparatuses. An apparatus management server is connected to a plurality of image forming apparatuses via a network. Each image forming apparatus includes a storage unit for storing information indicative of wear levels of members for outputting a color image, on a color-by-color basis. The management service acquires the information from each image forming apparatus, and selects an image forming apparatus for outputting an image based on the acquired information such that differences between the wear levels of the members become smaller between the image forming apparatuses.

  • Patent number: 8078069
Abstract: It is judged whether a sufficient time for executing all of three correction processings (a high density correction processing, a halftone correction processing, and a registration correction processing) can be secured or not. When the sufficient time cannot be secured, the high density correction processing as an essential correction processing is executed. A history of the halftone correction processing and a history of the registration correction processing are compared with each other. A date of latest execution of the halftone correction processing and a date of latest execution of the registration correction processing are compared with each other to judge whether or not the execution of the halftone correction processing is earlier, and the registration correction processing and the halftone correction processing are executed, respectively.

Abstract: A correction unit executes a correcting function for measuring at least one of position and density of a test image in response to a correction instruction and correcting an operation setting of a printing unit based on the measurement result. Print data includes correction requiring data that is required to execute the correcting function by the correction unit before an image corresponding to the correction requiring data is printed. A determining unit is configured to determine whether or not at least one of two conditions is satisfied. One condition is such that a ratio of a second numerical value represented by the correction requiring data to a first numerical value represented by the print data is less than a first reference value. Another condition is such that the second numerical value is less than a second reference value.

  • Patent number: 8045191
Abstract: In a printer 1 which is an information processing apparatus of the present invention, after a password is accepted from a PC 2 together with image data and job information, the image data is encrypted and stored in a storage part 106, the job information is associated with the password and stored in a management part 104 as a job management table, and the process waits. In a case where a security program is executing, in case that a main power 110 is turned off, the operation of a backup part 105 to supply power to the management part 104 is inhibited, so that the job information table stored in the management part 104 is deleted. In a case where the security program is not executing, power is supplied to the management part 104 by the backup part, thereby maintaining the job management table stored in the management part 104.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a main power unit that outputs a first DC power and an auxiliary power unit that outputs a second DC power to the components of the image forming apparatus. The auxiliary power unit includes a rechargeable capacitor. A measuring unit measures performance of the capacitor and a determining unit determines performance insufficiency of the capacitor based on the measured performance and the system configuration of the image forming apparatus. The performance is, for example, changes in a capacitance of the capacitor with time. When the determining unit determines performance insufficiency of the capacitor, a control unit adjusts, for example, a use range of the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 8014692
Abstract: When an instruction reception section receives an image forming instruction from an operator, a detector detects an toner image forming unit which performs an image forming operation in connection with the operator's instruction. A mode determining section determines which one of an image formation preceding mode or a sheet conveyance preceding mode is set for the toner image forming unit detected by the detector, and a drive controller controls drivings of the sheet conveying section and the image forming section according to the determined mode.

  • Patent number: 7982903
Abstract: In the printing and finishing of sheet-like objects, printing instructions are outputted to a printer. In accordance therewith, sheet-like objects are printed by the printer and are subsequently delivered by the printer directly to the finishing apparatus and then finished by the finishing apparatus. Output data concerning the printing instructions sent to the printer which are at least indicative of the printer capacity required for the printer to process the printing instructions outputted to the printer are registered. Sheet-like objects displaced by the printer are detected and signaled by the detector. At least periodically, production data in accordance with the signals received from the detector are generated. These data are at least indicative of a production quantity realized by the printer in response to the printing instructions sent to the printer. Depending on the production data, the output of next ones of the printing instructions to the printer is dosed.
