Abstract: A copier capable of forming printed matter in a mode where the center of spread page is bound, in which a bookbinding mode whereby record paper having a size twice as much as a designated size is folded in two to thereby constitute a cover (first page) and a back cover (final page) and record paper having the designated size on which intermediate pages are recorded, are interposed between the cover and the back cover, is prepared as the bookbinding mode suitable for forming printed matter in the mode where the center of a spread page is bound, an image signal provided by scanning the document is stored in image storing regions of an image memory corresponding to respective pages of the document and the image storing regions are successively designated, such that the image is printed on the record paper in accordance with the order of a page arrangement in compliance with the bookbinding mode.

Abstract: A copying machine is provided capable of readily and conveniently setting a User's Choice value for an additionally set division. In the copying machine, the User's Choice value of the system which is set for each division is stored in a rewritable storage, such as a hard disc, a back-up memory or the like. The User's Choice of the system is changed in a control unit of the copying machine. The User's Choice value of the system is used as default in registering a new division, and it is thus not necessary to conventionally set a new User's Choice value based on the User's Choice value of the system which is stored in a ROM and thus cannot be changed. Thus, setting User's Choice values is no longer cumbersome for users, and the users can readily and conveniently set User's Choice values for an additionally set divisions.

Abstract: A system for repeatedly processing, in a production run, a set of original images to form at least two disparate sets of copies of the originals in accordance with a job specification, the job specification including at least two disparate copy set specifications corresponding to the two disparate copy sets to be formed. The system produces the required disparate copy sets, each in accordance with its own copy set specification, independently of an operator's intervention.

Abstract: A processing apparatus is utilized for a copying machine capable of executing successively a first job and then a second job. An user inputs the number of originals, the number of copies to be made, or the like using a picture plane for setting the first job. Based on information about the input numbers of originals and copies, and information about a copying operation that can be carried out by the copying machine, the number of originals and the number of copies that can be set for the second job are determined. The determined numbers of originals and copies are displayed. Accordingly, the number of originals and the number of copies which exceed a limitation of processing by the copying machine would not be input, thereby improving handling of the apparatus.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus comprises: an inserting unit to insert a memory medium such as IC card or floppy disc which can be freely attached or detached and in which programs to control the image processing apparatus have been stored; a memory to store the program which has been read out from the memory medium and kind data indicative of the kind of program; a loading circuit to load the program stored in the memory medium into the memory; and a control unit to control the image processing apparatus in accordance with the program stored in the memory.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus for reading a document image, digitizing the resulting image data, and then forming an image on the basis of the digitized image data. The apparatus is selectively operable in an ordinary mode for reading the document image every time an image is formed or in a high-speed mode for writing the digitized image data in a memory so as to form a plurality of images by a single scanning while reducing the interval between consecutive papers. A fixing unit is provided with a higher reload temperature in the high-speed mode than in the ordinary mode. This obviates a cold offset in the event of a start-up when the high-speed mode is selected.

Abstract: A multijob image forming apparatus performing the following operation, which allows operation similar to single job operation without increasing number of keys on an operation panel, is provided. When two jobs, that is, reading and printing are stopped by one stop key and a clear key is pressed, the display is switched to a data clear display, when document is being read and printing is in progress. By using the data clear display, data corresponding to the reading operation or the data corresponding to the printing operation, which is to be discarded, is selected.

Abstract: An image recording apparatus includes a printer for recording a received image on a sheet, a sorter for sorting the sheet by stacking the sheet recorded by the printer in one of a plurality of bins, a determination unit for determining a bin in which the sheet is to be stacked, a discrimination unit for discriminating if the sheet can be stacked in the determined bin, a memory for storing the received image when the discrimination unit discriminates that the bin determined by the determination unit cannot stack the sheet, and a second memory for storing bin information indicating the bin determined by the determination unit in correspondence with the image stored in the memory.

Abstract: A digital copying apparatus having an image data memory and an automatic document feeder (ADF). The digital copying apparatus reads an image of an original document placed on a document platen and generates image data to be stored in the memory. When a copy sheet jam occurs during operation of an image forming section, it is determined whether or not the uncopied image data which have been generated but have not yet been copied are stored in the memory based on the detection of discharge of copy sheets from the apparatus. When all uncopied image data are stored in the memory, the copy operation is restarted using the image data stored in the memory. When all uncopied image data are not stored in the memory, the original document is discharged from a document transport path of the ADF to a discharge tray and the number of original documents to be returned to a feed tray is displayed on a display.

Abstract: A job listing section displays four jobs of highest ranks in an output processing order among jobs currently stored. A window L1 indicates that a job shown therein is in a state of "printing" and windows L2-L4 indicate that jobs shown therein are in an output wait state. To check detailed settings of each job, an operator selects one of the jobs displayed on the job listing section by pressing the corresponding portion with a finger, whereby the selected job is reverse-displayed to inform the operator of the job selection. Detailed settings of the selected job are displayed on a job setting display section (pop-up window).

Abstract: An image recording apparatus includes a memory for storing an image information of each page; an image forming device for recording an image onto a recording sheet for each page on the basis of the image information in the memory; a recording sheet conveyor for conveying a recording sheet to the image forming device to record an image on one side thereof, and after that, conveying again the recording sheet to the image forming device to record an image on another side thereof, with no recording sheet being stacked during conveyance, and the recording sheet being conveyed along a specified conveyance path, and a predetermined maximum number of recording sheets can exist within the specified conveyance path.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus outputs an operation setting paper sheet (Op-sheet) having printed thereon an operation setting image (template) stored in a data ROM upon operating an operation setting paper sheet output key (OPS key). The image forming apparatus reads the operation setting image on the operation setting paper sheet by a scanner, and sets an operational mode according to selection items in the read image, thereby performing an image forming operation according to the operational mode. By producing a print output of the operation setting image, the operation setting paper sheet in the original form without having a deterioration of the image quality or displacement can be provided with the unique image quality of this image forming apparatus which enables the image to be surely read by the image forming apparatus.
