Patent number: 7003815Abstract: An apparatus and method for foot actuating a toilet by providing a foot pedal having an enhoused cable extending therefrom. The cable is attached inside the toilet tank to a flushing means within the tank. Upon a user stepping down on the pedal, dual components of the pedal provide for the amount of cable within the foot pedal to be increased by a factor of two relative to the pedal travel distance. This in turn provides for the cable inside of the tank to be decreased by such amount for lifting a weight and actuating the internal flushing means within the toilet tank. Upon removing the user's foot from the foot pedal, the foot pedal, cable and weight are automatically reset to a starting position allowing the toilet to be reset to its original position for reuse.Type: GrantFiled: February 6, 2004Date of Patent: February 28, 2006Assignee: Foot Flush International, Inc.Inventor: Eric Herbst

Patent number: 6615412Abstract: A no hands toilet lid and seat opening and closing mechanism designed to be disposed on a typical existing toilet having a seat and/or lid and seat. A saddle-like mounting bracket having left and right brackets is positioned on the top rear quadrant of the toilet bowl, and is clamped in place between the hinge assembly and toilet bowl. Two pivot arms support foot levers that control the lid and seat, and are pivotally coupled to the mounting brackets. A lid coiled spring and a seat coiled spring are each disposed around a pivot arm. U-shaped lid and seat brackets are adapted to be bonded to the existing toilet lid and seat, and are functionally connected to the lid and seat pedals, such that foot pressure forcing downward on a chosen pedal will raise and open the lid and/or seat.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 2002Date of Patent: September 9, 2003Inventor: Stephen John Hammond

Publication number: 20030159202Abstract: A no hands toilet lid and seat opening and closing mechanism consisting of a saddle like mounting bracket having pivot arms, secured by existing lid and seat hinge bolts through rearward holes at end of typical existing toilet bowl rim having a seat or lid and seat. Two ends at the rear of the foot levers are pivotally coupled to the pivot arms, one on each side of mounting bracket, this allows the lid foot lever and the seat foot lever to swing downward, pulling on four connecting rods, two on each side, with two ends, the bottom end of the rods fastens to the two foot levers, the top end of the rods fastens to the lid and seat brackets. The downward movement of the rods fastened at the rear of the lid and seat brackets which are bonded rearward to underside of existing toilet lid and seat in front of and parallel to lid/seat hinge assembly, to pivot on existing toilet lid and seat hinges thus raising lid and seat together by pushing the seat foot lever or separate by pushing the lid foot lever.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 25, 2002Publication date: August 28, 2003Inventor: Stephen John Hammond

Publication number: 20030154541Abstract: A toilet seat lid raising and lowering device relies on a motion sensor to trigger its operation. A housing containing the sensor, a motor and a spool is removably attached to a toilet tank. Upon detecting a user approaching the toilet area, the sensor sends an activation signal to the motor causing the motor to rotate the spool. A line is attached to the spool at one end and to the seat lid at a second end such that the rotation of the spool causes the line to raise the seat lid to an open position slightly angled from the tank. Once a user exits the toilet area, the motor returns to a neutral position allowing the spool to rotate in an opposite direction thereby lowering the seat lid by means of gravity. Resistance between the motor and spool prevent the seat lid from “crashing” to a closed position.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 15, 2002Publication date: August 21, 2003Inventor: Daniel J. Miller
