Patent number: 5372718Abstract: A housing including an inlet conduit and an outlet, carrying a reservoir for collecting filtered liquid. The reservoir is secured within the housing by a lid. A separator assembly is carried by the reservoir and includes a strainer assembly for removing materials from a liquid inflowing from the inlet conduit, an inner container and an outer container. The outer container is covered by a lid having an opening for sealably receiving the inlet conduit. The inner and outer container cooperate to hinder the flow of liquid, giving materials more dense than the fluid time to settle, and materials less dense than the liquid time to rise to and be contained by the lid.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1993Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Inventor: Ghassan W. Patent number: 5028321Abstract: A pool cleaning device for a pool having a powered water circulation and filtration system including at least one return inlet. The inlet is directed to create a circular flow pattern of water in the pool so as to cause debris therein to become concentratedly swirled at the pool bottom. The pool cleaning device of the present invention is provided adjacent to the drain on the pool bottom and provides a vortex of water extending upwardly from the pool bottom. The device includes a housing having at least one inlet and at least one outlet. A shroud is connected to the housing and has at least one inlet and at least one outlet. The debris moves from the shroud inlet to the shroud outlet due to the vortex. A debris collection device is connected to the shroud. Movement of the water and the debris is permitted into the debris collection device and the debris is limited from returning to the shroud.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1988Date of Patent: July 2, 1991Assignee: Damon K. Patent number: 4706306Abstract: A stopper drain guide stem is provided for centering and positioning a stopper in a drain guide hole. The unitary guide stem has a spindle portion extending axially downwardly therefrom for attachment to a drain stopper. The downwardly extending flexible stem portion of the guide element has a radiused nose portion for supporting the drain stopper in its raised, draining position, and for centering the stem and guiding it into a central aperture of the drain body assembly. The intermediate length of the stem portion is bifurcated, having a pair of spaced apart, substantially parallel flexible leg portions with a flexible spacer member extending therebetween intermediate their length, to promote flexibility of the stem, so as to enable its use in a wider range of sizes of guide hole, and to enhance lateral stabilizing frictional engagement of the stem with the inner peripheral surface of the drain guide hole.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1987Date of Patent: November 17, 1987Inventor: Ronald A. Patent number: 4232407Abstract: A basket strainer and stopper assembly for a sink includes a strainer basket, a stopper positioned below the basket strainer for sealing the sink drain opening and an axial stem. The stem has an upper portion which serves as a handle and a lower forked portion which has tines or legs which both support the strainer-stopper assembly in the open drain position and retain it securely in the closed drain position. The legs of the forked portion of the stem are resilient and arcuate and they rest upon a plate extending across the drain opening to support the assembly in the open position. The drain is closed by exerting sufficient downward force on the handle portion of the stem to spring the resilient legs toward each other so they pass through and are retained in a detent opening in the plate. The drain is reopened by pulling upward on the handle with sufficient force to raise the entire assembly and to once again spring the legs toward each other so that they will pass through the detent opening.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1979Date of Patent: November 11, 1980Assignee: Bradley CorporationInventor: Frank N.
