Patent number: 6564399Abstract: A flushable bowl protecting liner for reducing the need for manual cleaning by providing a barrier between the bowl of the toilet and solid waste. The flushable bowl protecting liner includes a barrier material that is flat and rigid when dry and rendered flexible when in contact with water. In its' dry state the liner may set into a toilet bowl above the water level. As solid waste is deposited onto the material the moisture would allow the material to wrap about the waste material. By reason of the barrier's design pattern of radial incisions the waste would be fully enclosed. The material would provide not only a barrier to prevent the deposit of solid waste on the toilet bowl but a low friction package that would prevent plumbing blockages. The material may also be designed to be biodegradable.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2002Date of Patent: May 20, 2003Inventor: Graham M. Teal

Patent number: 6513172Abstract: A shield is provided for a toilet on which a seat is hinged for rotation between a down position on the rim of the toilet bowl and an up position angularly displaced from the rim of the toilet bowl. A C-shaped flat clip is adapted to grip the rim of the toilet bowl at one side thereof. The top surface of this clip is substantially flat, paralleling the top surface of the toilet rim. At the outboard edge of this clip is a hinge supporting a spring-biased lever that extends inward and downward into the bowl of the toilet, supporting on the distal end thereof a substantially strike pad for absorbing the impact of a urine stream impinging upon it, reducing noise and reducing splatter. The lever is engagable against the underside of the seat for downward displacement of the lever and thus the strike pad in response to force exerted on the lever by the underside of the seat during rotation of the seat into the down position.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2002Date of Patent: February 4, 2003Inventor: Robert N. Patent number: 6401263Abstract: A portable urinal apparatus includes a supporter attached to the top of a catch basin and a discharge tube attached to the bottom of the catch basin, in which the catch basin is constructed so as to catch urinary fluids and direct those fluids down through the discharge tube into the toilet bowl of a conventional sit down toilet. An interior chamber is defined by the walls of the catch basin. The sides of the catch basin are sloped to direct fluids towards the middle and bottom of the interior chamber of the catch basin, rather than outside the basin. The bottom of the catch basin is sloped to direct fluids towards the discharge tube. When in use, the bottom end of the discharge tube is positioned over the middle area of the toilet bowl.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2001Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Inventor: Edward T. Chang

Patent number: 6357055Abstract: A removable urine overspray shield especially suited to young boys which is provided with upstanding semi-elliptical walls which removably engage with the lower portion of the inner rim of a toilet bowl when the toilet seat is upstanding. The rear of the device is provided with fastening means of a curved flange which sits and bears upon the lower portion of the inner toilet seat when in use, although other commonly known fastening means, such as a clip or Velcro strips may be used. In such a fashion, the device may be easily lifted onto and away from the toilet bowl rim. To facilitate insertion and removal on a toilet, a handle may be provided at the rear or top portion of the device. The device is intended to promote proper toileting in young boys and prevent urine from spraying on the walls and floors adjacent the toilet.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2001Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Inventors: Eve Gambla, John Manzella

Patent number: 6305034Abstract: An extensible and retractable urine deflecting apparatus 10 for use in combination with a toilet and toilet bowl comprising three distinct segments all contiguously connected. Preferably the 1st segment consists of a pair of flush mounted attach, connect, and support structures 12, but may be limited to one. Preferably the 2nd segment consists of a pair of extensible and retractable mechanical arms 14, but may be limited to one. The 3rd Segment consists of a urine deflecting device 16 or any of various methods including but not limited to absorbent paper 50, cascading water 62, stream of air 78, or lightweight mini urinal device 68. Patent number: 6253395Abstract: A sink or wash-basin guard provides an elevated barrier between a person and a cleaning liquid. The guard is attached to the sink with suction cups, and is readily removed and replaced. Cut-out portions are provided around which a person can easily reach, while not sacrificing the benefits associated with a greater height sink edge. The splash guard is also configured to provide support for a person's arms to rest upon, while using the sink. The armrest finds particular application with those persons who have been injured or have back problems, the elderly, and others with physical limitations, and also for those situations such as in commercial kitchens where a person will need to spend extended periods at the sink. An extension is provided which will accommodate sinks of various depths and persons of diverse heights, and the material selected for the guard, extension and suction cups is most preferably both durable and resilient.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2000Date of Patent: July 3, 2001Inventor: Cindy M. Patent number: 6170092Abstract: My Invention is called THE AIDS SPLASH BACK TOILET GUARD and as the name implies, it is a paper device that is used to protect a person from AIDS contaminated toilet water that can splash back when Bowel Movements are made. The Splash Back guard is a round paper towel pad about 7 inches in diameter and about ⅛th inch thick and it also has tiny pieces of styrofoam chips embedded within it. The pad is to be laid into the toilet on top of the water before a person sits to make a Bowel Movement. The pad will not sink until a Bowel Movement is made because the embedded styrofoam chips will cause it to float on top of the water. The idea is to make a Bowel Movement directly onto the top of the pad instead of onto the naked water. And by doing so, the impact of the fallen Feces upon the pad will force the water to splash outwards along the sides of the rim of the toilet instead of directly upwards to wet a person's Anal and Genital area.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2000Date of Patent: January 9, 2001Inventor: Wade Norris May
