Abstract: A portable salon unit includes a movable cart with a wash basin adjustably attached thereto. The wash basin is adjustable vertically with respect to the cart, horizontally with respect to the cart, rotatably about a vertical axis adjacent the cart, about a horizontal axis to the basin and a vertical axis to the basin. A device for supplying clean water to an object located in the basin includes a water connector at one end and a spray end at the other. A flexible supply hose is provided on a supply reel to allow the water connector to be located some distance from the cart. A water return device also including a flexible hose allows water from the basin to be returned to the source. Electricity is also supplied to the cart by use of a suitable cord on a reel.

Abstract: A head care station for use with a wheelchair and a kit therefore and a method for reclining the occupant of a wheelchair against a head support. The head care station has a foundation member having a front portion and a back portion. A wheelchair jack is mounted to the front portion. The wheelchair jack has a bearing member movable between a floor position and an elevated position. A head support is connected to the back portion of the foundation member. The head support is movable between a lower position and an upper position. A bolster is connected to the back portion of the foundation member. The bolster is disposed at a vertical elevation above the elevated position of the wheelchair jack. The wheelchair jack and the bolster define between them an occupancy space.

Abstract: A highly stable and self-contained mobile hygiene cabinet comprises a housing assembly mounted on a plurality of wheels and a wash basin mounted on a top of the cabinet. First and second tanks are mounted centrally within the cabinet for retaining cold and hot water therein, respectively. A third tank is also mounted in the cabinet, below the other tanks, and communicates with the basin to receive waste waters therefrom. Water dispensing apparatus, including a manually actuated handle knob and a sprayer attachment, are mounted on the cabinet adjacent to the basin for receiving and dispensing water. A water supply control system selectively communicates cold, hot or a mixture of cold and hot water from one or both of the first and second tanks to the water dispensing means. An electrical control system is provided for selectively driving pumps to effect such communication and to also purge the third tank of waste water.

Abstract: Hair treatment dispensing apparatus comprising a housing, a pump, a reservoir containing a hair treatment solution, a nozzle for dispensing the solution, the reservoir, nozzle and a pump being interconnected by flexible tubing, and the solution being adapted to flow toward and away from the nozzle.

Abstract: A portable cabinet is provided for facilitating the operation of espresso and coffe-making machines and for the merchandising of espresso and coffee. The cabinet includes a counter top with at least two beverage preparation stations at different levels, one for preparing espresso and the other for preparing coffee. An internal fresh water supply and plumbing system enables the cabinet to be used at locations where a continuous supply of fresh water is unavailable. Filtered water from a holding tank is supplied to both beverage preparation stations on the top counter. A power distribution system built into the cabinet supplies electric power to both beverage preparation stations and to built-in lighting within the canopy which extends over the top counter. An internal waste water collection system drains waste water from the espresso-making machine to a waste water holding tank.

Abstract: An in-bed bathing process and apparatus therefor comprising the steps of filling one compartment of a sealed tank, internally divided by a flexible diaphragm into two compartments, with pressurized water to distend the diaphragm into the other compartment, moving the water-filled tank to the bedside of the bed-ridden person, encasing the person in a body-encapsulating, water-proof sheath, pressurizing some of the water from the tank into the sheath through a transfer line, for bathing the person, connecting a shower nozzle to the transfer line and rinsing the person, then draining the rinse water from the sheath through another line into a bag hung next to the tank, and including provisions for placing a wash tray behind the person's head for washing their hair in the bed and draining the water into the sheath for capture in the bag.

Abstract: A first embodiment of an improved shampoo basin includes an integral spray rinse assembly positioned proximate a neck supporting portion of the basin. The spray rinse assembly facilitates the rinsing of a user's neck and hair in normally difficult to reach areas. Water temperature and pressure control are also provided, and the spray rinse may be selectively operated by a foot pedal arrangement. A modified embodiment of the basin is of a portable design which permits it to be attached to a conventional shampoo basin.

Abstract: An arrangement for treatment of hair with circulating liquid comprises a circulating pump unit provided with a pump and having a suction opening and a discharge opening. A foot is to seal an opening of a flushing basin and formed as a plug matching with the opening of the flushing basin.

Abstract: Automatic hair shampoo machines were the basis of my U.S. Pat. No. 3,521,647. It overcame the problems associated with prior automatic shampoo machines. One of the imperfections of my earlier hair shampooing apparatus was its washing action. Another one was that during the time the apparatus of U.S. Pat. No. 3,521,647 was in service, it became apparent that the use of liquid tanks or reservoirs imposed limitations on its use. Still another area subject to improvement was a lack of a hair drying apparatus. By improvements herein a hair shampoo machine is provided which can be used unattended. It has an improved washing action, uses no tanks, and incorporates a hair drying apparatus. The washing action has been improved by, among other things, manifolds mounted at definite angles to complement each other. The solution tanks have been eliminated and replaced by a system which injects quantities of hair treating solutions. The hair drying apparatus includes outlets in the bowl or cover of the machine.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an extensible shampoo bowl that is particularly designed to be used in shampooing the hair of an individual confined or seated in a wheelchair. Structurely, the present invention entails a cabinet structure with an extensible shampoo bowl mounted thereto. In particular, by utilizing a scissor-type linkage between the cabinet and shampoo bowl, the shampoo bowl can be raised adjacent the wheelchair.

Abstract: A scalp massager connected to a tap water supply, such as a shower head, through a flexible conduit. The massager includes a pulsating water shower head that is slidably mounted along a plurality of slots in a helmet that is fitted over a user's head. The massaging shower head includes a locking nut for adjusting and setting the shower head in a given position to constantly apply the pulsating water over an area of the user's scalp.

Abstract: An automatic hair-washing machine includes an outer shell, an inner shell disposed around a user's skull and hair, a plurality of rubbing rods secured between the two shells and poking inwardly through the inner shell to touch the user's hair and two driving motors for vertically and horizontally reciprocating the two shells and the rods for twisting, rubbing and washing the user's hair as flushed by water and shampoo delivered by a hose through the two shells.

Abstract: A small child's hair washing device includes a body support portion for supporting the child's body in supine position on a counter top adjacent a sink, a head rest portion for supporting the child's head above the sink, a neck support portion adjacent the head rest portion and a drain portion between the body support portion and the neck support portion. The body support portion is releasably engaged with the counter top to hold the device in desired overlapping relationship with the sink and a safety strap may be provided to restrain the child relative to the device during the hair washing operation.

Abstract: A shampooing apparatus or device that is a portable, lightweight, and easily operated for providing automatic shampooing and/or conditioning. The apparatus comprises a body having a dispensing head and adapted to contain at least one but preferably two capsules one of which may contain a shampoo concentrate and the other a conditioner. The body receives these capsules and also receives liquid under pressure from a source of the liquid. In the two capsule version there are separate output ports that couple to a common entry port into a cylindrical cavity of the dispensing head. The dispensing head is of pulsating type including a rotor. In an alternate embodiment in place of the capsules are provided externally disposed containers for the conditioner and shampoo.

Abstract: Cleansing equipment and a daily process for cleansing an ostomy faceplate and the peristomal area while on the ostomate's body. This equipment and process are intended to reduce the occurrence of infections in long-term ostomates. Pressurized fluids delivered through a specially configured nozzle and premoistened antiseptic swabs are used to dislodge, rinse and remove bacteria and bacterial growth medium from the corresponding faceplate surfaces and peristomal areas. The hygiene unit accomplishes this cleansing process by pumping water and cleansing fluids in an orderly predetermined sequence at the required flow rates, volumes, composition and pulse frequencies. Special adapters permit the hygiene unit nozzle to connect with and cleanse ostomy appliance receptacles and urinary drainage systems. The hygiene unit is equipped with a "clean" function so that it can clean itself.

Abstract: A completely self-contained portable apparatus useful primarily in hospitals and nursing homes for washing, shampooing, pedicuring and manicuring bed-ridden persons is disclosed. A wheeled cabinet, houses clean and waste water tanks as well as heating and pressurizing means for the clean water. Head and foot basins each with drain connections to the waste water tank are pivotally mounted on lining arms which permit them to fold into a non-use position overlying each other and the cabinet and an extended position overlying a bed when in use. The support mounting the basins on the cabinet also provides for vertical adjustment to accommodate different bed heights. Spray nozzles connected to the pressurized, heated and clean water tank are extendible by means of hoses to reach either the head or foot basins when in extended operative position.

Abstract: A portable combined hair shampoo basin and drying hood configured for use by a person reclining in a bed or on a couch such as a bedridden person although it may be used in the home by all family members for shampooing, hair coloring, permanent waving, and the drying of the hair thereafter. It is a box-like device that sits on the bed or couch having a double wall defined basin reservoir and a half moon cutout in a front wall to receive the neck of the user. The basin inner wall has a plurality of openings through which water passes when water is poured over the head from a pitcher to drain down through the openings into the reservoir. This keeps spent rinse water out of the upper basin section and away from clean hair with water draining from the reservoir container through a hose connected thereto during the shampoo process.

Abstract: A head support for a beauty parlor sink includes an elongated flexible band of water resistant material having apertures proximate its opposite ends, a cord extending through said apertures, and hooks attached to the opposite ends of the cord for engaging upper edges of the sidewalls of the sink.

Abstract: A shampoo and scalp treatment basin in rectangular closed box-like form in the portable state and with the removed top connected to the head receiving end of the basin box and acting as a sloped back rest support for the person receiving a hair shampoo and scalp treatment. There is a half moon cut out at the top of the end wall of the head receiving end of the basin box to accommodate the neck of the user. The basin box top when serving as a back rest is connected to the front end wall of the basin box by hook connectors mounted in wall openings and engaging straps mounted on the back rest top. The basin box has screw head openings toward the top of each of the two sides and in the rear wall of the basin box for support attachment to a wall with wall mounted screws when used in a mounted state rather than on a bed, floor, treatment table or chair. A drain hose from the basin can run to a bathtub, commode or pail (whatever is handy).

Abstract: The invention is an improved bath device for patients, particularly bedridden, wheelchair dependent, and incontinent patients. The bath device is portable and provides a flow or liquid by gravity. The bath device is designed to operate independently or co-jointly which another form of incontinent equipment. The portable bath device is compact and easily carried or transported on a mobile facility. The bath device is constructed of flexible water-proof material that also has insulating qualities. The bath device has an inlet or fill port, a vent, and an outlet, each of which is sealable. The bath device has a facility for hanging the bath device on portable supports in a manner that facilitates complete use of all the contained liquid.

Abstract: A system for use in shampooing the hair and scalp of bed patients provides in a completely biodegradable diposable plastic basin a circular bottom with ringed wall upstanding around it and having at the patient-neck location a first bag sealed along a low wall portion and up the sides thereof, and containing an easily insertable second bag which in turn contains polystyrene granules and which can be adjusted within the first bag to form a water-tight fit around the underside and sides of the patient's neck without sliding friction with the skin of the patient; the second bag can be supplied with any desired quantity of granules necessary to fit a particular patient; a roll-up flat tube of plastic is supplied at one or both sides for draining the basin.

Abstract: A manually operated apparatus for selectively directing shampoo solutions onto the hair and scalp of a person while the individual is sitting in a semi-reclining position. The apparatus is constructed so it may give a wetting action to the hair and scalp prior to directing shampoo onto the hair and scalp for predetermined length of time and to direct rinse water thereonto and the device includes applicators which are manually actuated to move in a circular fashion relative to the users head as desired providing high volume with low pressure to desired portions of the users head.
