  • Patent number: 6203164
Abstract: A device to detect the position of the toilet seat and alert the user by means of a visual signal. It consists of housing mounted on the underside of a toilet seat cover (3). The housing encloses a light source (4), the circuit (5) and power source (11) required to energize the source and a mechanically operated sensor device (7), which detects the position of the seat If the seat is up, the sensor device detects the position of the seat whereby sending the appropriate signal through the electronic circuitry to gently illuminate the seat cover with the light source (FIG. 2). The device has the built-in feature, which prevents it to activate the light source when both seat and cover are in horizontal down position, thereby conserving the power in the batteries which are used as the power source (FIG. 3).

  • Patent number: 6044501
Abstract: A temperature confirmation mechanism is disclosed for use with water supply equipment. The temperature confirmation mechanism allows a user to confirm the temperature of the water before causing water to spout from the water supply equipment. The temperature confirmation mechanism includes a conduit having a shallow portion formed around a conduit. A water supply communicates with the conduit to supply water to the water supply equipment. An enclosing member creates a chamber by enclosing the shallow portion around the conduit. Further, the enclosing member is rotatable around said shallow portion. A communication hole fluidly connects the conduit and the chamber. A temperature confirmation hole is provided in said enclosing member. As such, water exiting the temperature confirmation hole may be tested before the user spout water from the water supply equipment. • Patent number: 5963994
Abstract: A toilet seat includes a substantially rigid lid coupled to a pliant top. The seat seals against the rim of the standard toilet bowl and forms a pressure-adjustable cavity with the bowl and the surface of the water. Once sealed, the seat is pumped to inject air into the cavity, thereby increasing the pressure in the cavity to cause a flush operation. The lid and top each have one way pressure valves permitting air to flow into the cavity as the top is pumped. In another embodiment, the toilet has a standard toilet seat and is connected to a vacuum source via a selectively operable valve. The valve is selectively operable between an open state and a closed state, the open state creating a fluid communication path between the vacuum source and the void volume, the closed state providing a substantially airtight seal between the void volume and the vacuum source.

  • Patent number: 5671486
Abstract: A toilet tank cover comprises two decorative figures. Discharge from the vent orifice of a cup type float valve flows up through the primary figure and out an exterior orifice to the secondary figure. The primary figure receives water discharge from the discharge vent of a cup type float valve. The discharge then flows through the primary figure to an emission point. At the emission point, the fluid is directed toward an opening in the second figure. The discharge flows through the secondary figure and drains directly into the waste standpipe of the toilet. The operation of the flush mechanism of the toilet is thereby monitored in an aesthetically pleasing fashion.

  • Patent number: 5655233
Abstract: A decorative cover for a toilet comprises a fabric shaped by a plurality of ribs, the ribs pivotally mounted to the rear of the toilet seat. The ribs are of sequentially reduced configurations allowing for a fully nested relationship therebetween. The ribs are movable to a first nested relationship adjacent the water reservoir which collapses the cover and allows access to the toilet bowl. Upon movement of the nested ribs away from their nested relationship, the cover is extended between the water reservoir and towards the toilet rim. A fixed spacer cover encloses the space between the water reservoir and one end of the collapsible cover.

  • Patent number: 5644801
Abstract: A toilet system for reducing or eliminating the splash and noise normally associated with human waste as it falls and penetrates the surface of the water contained in a toilet bowl (10). This system includes a floating object or deflector (20) positioned at the surface of the water which functions to deflect the fall of the waste matter. An electrical circuit (1-6) generates an electromagnetic field, which interacts with the magnetic influenceable material of the deflector and/or a permanent magnet connected to the floating deflector. Interaction between the electromagnetic field and the magnetic influenceable material (e.g. iron) or permanent magnet allows the floating object to be maintained at a pre-determined, centralized and depth position on the surface of the water.

  • Patent number: 5642531
Abstract: A method of warming a toilet seat is described. Firstly, provide a toilet having a toilet seat and a pivotally mounted toilet seat cover. The toilet seat cover has a lower surface and a peripheral edge. The toilet seat cover is pivotally movable between a substantially vertical raised position and a substantially horizontal lowered position in which the lower surface of the toilet seat cover overlies the toilet seat. Secondly, secure a string of low voltage lights to the lower surface of the toilet seat cover adjacent the peripheral edge. Thirdly, position the toilet seat cover in a pivotal position parallel to the toilet seat when the toilet seat is not in use. Heat generated by the low voltage lights in proximity to the toilet seat warms the toilet seat in preparation for use.

Abstract: A plunger and brush dispensing toilet cover including a generally planar cover adapted to retrofit a reservoir of a conventional toilet. A circular cutout is formed adjacent a first end edge. The circular cutout has an associated periphery with a diameter greater than the diameter of a plunger for allowing the access thereof. A rectangular cutout is formed adjacent a second end edge. The rectangular cutout has an associated periphery with a length and width greater than the length and width of a toilet brush for allowing the access thereof. Also included is a circular template releasably coupled to the plunger. The diameter of the plunger template is greater than the diameter of the circular cutout. A rectangular template is releasably coupled to the toilet brush and has a length and width greater than the length and width of the rectangular cutout. Both templates are adapted to rest about the periphery of the cutouts of the cover whereby the plunger and brush depend from the cover within the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 5625911
Abstract: A method and an apparatus (30) for sampling urine at a toilet (10) equipped with a standard water closet bowl fixture (12). An elongated, curved, urine sampling trough (32) having a U-shaped cross-section is used. For sampling of urine, the sampling trough (32) is positioned in the vertical central plane (46) of the toilet bowl fixture in such a manner that it extends obliquely between the upper front region and the bottom region of the inner space of the bowl (14). As the urine sampling trough (32) covers a substantial length in the vertical direction as well as in the fore-and-aft direction, the urine column hits on the sampling trough even when the trajectory of urine column is fluctuated in the vertical or fore-and-aft direction, whereby urine is effectively sampled. As the urine sampling trough is elongated and curved, it can be readily stored under the toilet seat when not in use.
