Patent number: 6092244Abstract: A locking grate for a floor sink includes a screen member having holes dimensioned to allow the passage of liquid but prevent the passage of solid waste and a mounting hole, a threaded member dimensioned to extend through the mounting hole, and a locking member which is adapted to be engaged by the threaded member. According to a presently preferred embodiment, the threaded member is a screw having a non-standard or atypical head which requires a non-standard or unusual screw driver. The locking member includes a tube which is orthogonally engaged by the screw and which has at least one rod slideably disposed therein. The tube and the rod are arranged such that when the screw engages the tube, the screw forces the rod to slide partially out of the tube. The end of the rod which extends out of the tube is preferably provided with a surface which frictionally engages the inner wall of the floor sink drain pipe.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1999Date of Patent: July 25, 2000Assignee: Perlucid CorporationInventors: William D. Patent number: 5372718Abstract: A housing including an inlet conduit and an outlet, carrying a reservoir for collecting filtered liquid. The reservoir is secured within the housing by a lid. A separator assembly is carried by the reservoir and includes a strainer assembly for removing materials from a liquid inflowing from the inlet conduit, an inner container and an outer container. The outer container is covered by a lid having an opening for sealably receiving the inlet conduit. The inner and outer container cooperate to hinder the flow of liquid, giving materials more dense than the fluid time to settle, and materials less dense than the liquid time to rise to and be contained by the lid.Type: GrantFiled: June 18, 1993Date of Patent: December 13, 1994Inventor: Ghassan W. Patent number: 5075905Abstract: An improved drain trap assembly which is designed to allow for disposal of sediment with reduced mess and uncleanliness. The improvement comprises a valve which is attached to a drain trap and a compressible container attached subjacent to the valve which collects the sediment. The container when compressed forces residual fluid through the valve such that the valve can be closed to prevent flow of residual fluid back into the container; thereby, the volume of residual fluid in container is reduced prior to removal of container from drain trap. The container is then removed and the sediment is either discharged from the container or the disposable container is discarded. A reduction in discharge of unclean residual fluid into the surrounding area is accomplished by the improvement.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1991Date of Patent: December 31, 1991Inventor: Talmadge Rutherford

Patent number: 5038816Abstract: A removable drain trap assembly comprised of a clear plastic curved pipe member, a removable bottom closure member attached to the dip portion of the pipe member, and a gridlike member placed vertically within the dip portion of the bottom closure member. The gridlike member is placed along the vertical cross section of the assembly having maximum fluid flux to maximize object capture capacity. The gridlike member conforms to the cross sectional width of the dip portion and the bottom closure member to minimize fluid flow impedance. The bottom closure member is elongated and deepened to facilitate retention of smaller foreign objects which might pass through the gridlike member.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1990Date of Patent: August 13, 1991Inventor: Judy Weltsch

Patent number: 4676894Abstract: It has been found that by mounting a suction cover onto the periphery only of a suction interconnection member placed between the suction cover and the recirculating piping, and by carefully placing the hole pattern and size of the individual holes thereon, that a substantial increase in the allowable flow rate gpm for a given safe suction of below five pounds will be produced, as required by the IAPMO standards. Furthermore, it has been found that the suction cover should provide as clear and unobstructed a path to flow, to the internal bore of the suction interconnect member, as possible, and, to this end, the suction cover itself is completely free of any internal flow obstructions, as is the flow path to the internal bore of the suction interconnect.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 1986Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Inventors: Harvey E. Patent number: 4539718Abstract: A drainpipe straining device can be attached either through an existing cleanout hole within the drainpipe or can be releasably secured to the drainpipe through a radial hole formed in the pipe. The device includes a plug member having substantially axially extending bristles. The shank of the plug member may be received within the bore of a cleanout hole already provided in a drain structure, or releasably received within a bore formed in a ring adapted to be secured to a radial hole drilled into the drainpipe. The ring member can be secured by strap means to the drainpipe and held in place thereon to releasably receive the plug. Solid materials will be received and collected by the bristles on the drain plug and can be removed from the drainpipe simply by removing and cleaning the plug and associated bristles.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1984Date of Patent: September 10, 1985Inventor: Richard L.
