Patent number: 5438780Abstract: A road sign having a message displayed on a soft reflective plastics material which is attached to a net fabric, preferable a PVC plastics. The net material is attached to a frame structure including a first bar connected at one end of the net and a second bar connected at an opposite end of the net. The net is wound around a roller proximate one of the bars. The bars are biased apart by spring biased folding arms. The device thereby can be raised to an open position by the spring force. Further, a hand crank, or a motor, and also a remote control, can be included for manipulation of the sign, such as to a closed position.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1993Date of Patent: August 8, 1995Assignee: ATA Bygg-och Markprodukter ABInventor: Bengt Winner

Patent number: 5355604Abstract: A sign body has light transmitting side panels for displaying information. The panels are arranged adjacent each other in a relationship that provides a top opening for entry between the panels of light emitted from fluorescent tubes in a light fixture mounted in the ceiling of a room. A reel having a spindle on which a web similar to a household window shade is wound. The sign body is supported on the free end of the web. The sign body can be raised manually sufficiently for the top opening to be near the light source for illuminating the panels from inside of the body and the body can be held there by tension in the web. The body can be pulled down manually in which case the web unwinds and holds the sign body at a level above the floor of the room so the sign can be accessed for maintenance or exchange of information bearing media.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1993Date of Patent: October 18, 1994Assignee: Everbrite, Inc.Inventor: Roy M. Patent number: 4878303Abstract: A portable sign apparatus has a changeable display and includes a frame having a pair of vertical frame members and a pair of horizontal frame members attached to the vertical frame members. A display portion is removably attached to the frame between the horizontal frame members. A ground support base is attached to the frame to support the frame in an upright position for displaying the display portion and supports the frame at each end thereof with a pair of legs connected to a leg support member. An attaching system allows the frame to be movably attached to the leg support members to allow the frame to be raised and lowered. A ground support attachment provides additional support between the frame and the ground to hold the sign more securely in position.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1988Date of Patent: November 7, 1989Inventors: Harry W. Patent number: 4829688Abstract: A panel making it possible to display bills or similar articles of large size, comprising a plate of small thickness which is preferably made of metal (but which could, if appropriate, be based on another material, such as plastic), this plate having dimensions corresponding at least to the dimensions of the bill to be displayed. The panel has distributed uniformly over the periphery of its front face a series of blades capable of perforating the bill when it is placed against the surface, and orifices intended for retaining fasteners inwardly disposed from pressing elements which are laid against the bill after it has been put in place on the blades which cover at least the periphery of the bill.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1987Date of Patent: May 16, 1989Assignee: Constructions Metalliques Ardechoises CMAInventors: Guy Mouraret, Jean Gleyze

Patent number: 4674212Abstract: A rectangular seat belt warning sign is made that is automatically deployed or retracted by the action of a seat belt in an automobile or public transport. The sign, attached to a cord or cords, retracts by leverage over a fulcrum and out of sight when the seat belt, attached to the other end of the cord, is pulled over the wearer and secured. Conversely, when the seat belt is retracted into its holder, the warning sign drops back in view by gravity. Pictures and other messages can be affixed to the sign as the wearer chooses. The system provides a very positive manner in which a driver or passenger must wear a seat belt; is a no-noise device which stays deployed until the seat belt is worn.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1985Date of Patent: June 23, 1987Inventor: Gary B. Patent number: RE38463Abstract: A remote-controlled motor-driven drum is provided to wind and unwind a cord which holds a self-balancing sign carrier. The sign carrier, which has telescoping rails, is adjustable in width. Its center rail includes two sheaves to receive the cord and lead it from the drum back to an end secured to the ceiling. Thus, rotation of the drum serves to raise and lower the sign carrier and a sign carried by it. The sheaves on the carrier not only allow it to be raised and lowered, but also serve to make the unit self-balancing The user attaches a sign to the carrier when it is in its lowered position and then raises the sign and carrier to the ceiling. The motor, which is reversible, is remotely controlled either by wires leading between the motor and a switch or by radio control (with a control similar to that used on a garage door).Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1998Date of Patent: March 16, 2004Assignees: Mechtronics CorporationInventors: Christopher S.
