Disposed on the free end of the flag is a décor mount, which displays a decorative component. The décor mount can pivot so as to orient the decorative component such that onlookers can read it.

Power is supplied by an internal rechargeable battery, recharged by a solar panel mounted on the top of the hinged lid. A photo sensor activates the LED during low light conditions. An optional feature provides the inside wall of the back panel with one or a plurality of shelves or detents to accommodate information-bearing cards, such as business cards.

The sheet further comprising a perforated cuts parallel to preselected edges of the sheet so that the perforated cuts allow strips of the sheet to be removed to reduce the length and width of the sheet to adapt to different sizes of mailboxes.

The cover sheet is formed of a material that allows substantially the entire back surface of the sheet to be attached directly to the mailbox cover by an affinity between the cover sheet material and the mailbox cover material. In one embodiment, this affinity is accomplished by magnetism through the use of a magnetic sheet. In an alternative embodiment, the affinity property is electrostatic or static cling.
