Type-head-carrier Movable On Movable Carriage Patents (Class 400/161)
  • Patent number: 8430584
Abstract: An electronic device includes a carriage conveyance unit, a sheet conveyance unit, a failure detection unit, a position detection unit, and a jam determination unit. The carriage conveyance unit includes a motor and conveys a carriage in a main scanning direction by a driving force of the motor. The sheet conveyance unit conveys a sheet in a sub-scanning direction which crosses the main scanning direction in which the carriage is conveyed. The failure detection unit detects a conveyance failure of the carriage. The position detection unit detects a position of the carriage in the main scanning direction. The jam determination unit determines whether or not the conveyance failure is due to jamming caused by interference between the carriage and the sheet, based on the position of the carriage detected by the position detection unit at a time when the conveyance failure is detected by the failure detection unit.

  • Patent number: 5961224
Abstract: By moving the printing head of a printing unit to a position outside the printing area, a paper stop is pivoted into the paper transport path and, by lowering the printing head, a gap is opened both between the printing head and printing abutment and between the paper pressure rollers, the coupling of the printing head to the paper pressure rollers in relation to the lowering movement simultaneously effecting adjustment of the printing head gap.

  • Patent number: 4474486
Abstract: A machine for stamping characters in multiple rows on a workpiece is disclosed. The machine includes an impact head assembly mounted on a transversely slidable carriage, the impact head assembly being adapted for reciprocating movement perpendicular to the path of that sliding movement. A rotating stamping wheel is mounted in the impact head assembly and has a plurality of character stamps mounted on its periphery. Means are disposed in the impact head assembly for moving the stamping wheel to a plurality of selected positions along its axis of rotation.

  • Patent number: 4449835
Abstract: A printing device comprises a motor, a conversion mechanism for converting rotation of the motor into first and second outputs, a selection mechanism for alternately supplying the first and second outputs, a type member for being supplied with the first output from the conversion mechanism, and a printing mechanism for being supplied with the second output. The printing mechanism is engageable with the type member to effect printing on a sheet of printing paper.

  • Patent number: 4348121
Abstract: A strike and non-strike impact control mechanism for typewriter comprises a drive shaft (4) equipped with at least two cams (8 and 9) corresponding to different strike forces, a tracker (13) of the contour of said cams, the movement of which is transmitted to a printing element (1), means (17 and 18) for displacement of said tracker (13), and means (20, 40 and 41) for receiving command impulses. So as to avoid the transfer of significant amounts of energy in the course of giving command impulses the mechanism comprises a tension spring (39) which acts upon the displacement means (17 and 18) so as to cause them to work in connection with an abutment apparatus (34-38). Said abutment apparatus (34-38) is controlled in various positions by said reception means (20, 40 and 41). A return apparatus (59 and 61) driven by drive shaft (4) returns displacement means (17 and 18) to a position known as normal following each complete rotation of said shaft (4).

  • Patent number: 4277192
Abstract: A power operated typewriter having an end of line locking mechanism comprises a clutch interposed between a drive motor and a printing mechanism, a control lever for engaging the printing clutch to print a character by the printing mechanism when a key lever is depressed, and lock means for locking the control lever so as to hold the printing clutch in its disengaged condition, which can prevent any printing operation even if the key lever is depressed after the right-hand margin position has been reached and is operative.

  • Patent number: 4239403
Abstract: A counterbalanced bidirectional drive for a hammer bank shuttle assembly within a line printer utilizes a band formed into an endless loop extending around and between an opposite pair of rotatable pulleys on opposite sides of the pulleys. A hammer bank-carrying shuttle assembly is coupled to a portion of the band between the pulleys on one side of the pulleys and is counterbalanced by an elongated bar of similar mass coupled to a portion of the band between the pulleys on the opposite side of the pulleys from the shuttle assembly. A DC motor coupled to one of the pulleys is alternately energized in opposite senses so as to bidirectionally drive the shuttle assembly along a linear path between opposite limits defined by resilient members impacted by an element mounted on the counterbalancing bar.

  • Patent number: 4172672
Abstract: A device for facilitating location of the printing point and/or the correction of characters comprises a mechanism actuated by a back space key to shift the printing point back. A second mechanism, also actuated by the back space key, moves a pointer to a set position over the printing point simultaneously with the back spacing. A restoring element controlled by a typing mechanism automatically restores the pointer to an inoperative position clear of the printing point before the typing of the selected character. A correcting key, when actuated, sets a suppressor which arrests the movement of a spring actuated actuator to lock the escapement and prearranges a lift mechanism for raising a correcting ribbon into an operative position. A positioner connected to the lift mechanism holds the suppressor in the set position in opposition to the action of a returning spring when the mechanism is prearranged for use and releases the suppressor when the correcting ribbon is raised into the operative position.
