    Abstract: A power operated typewriter having an end of line locking mechanism comprises a clutch interposed between a drive motor and a printing mechanism, a control lever for engaging the printing clutch to print a character by the printing mechanism when a key lever is depressed, and lock means for locking the control lever so as to hold the printing clutch in its disengaged condition, which can prevent any printing operation even if the key lever is depressed after the right-hand margin position has been reached and is operative.
