Abstract: A printing device is described, predominantly for printing labels on a tape. The printing device has a display and input means for inputting characters to be printed by the printing device. Using the input means, a cursor on the display can be controlled. The printing device has a label memory which comprises a storage portion having a plurality of storage sections. The display is operable to display a plurality of label access elements each of which represents a respective storage section in the storage portion of the memory. The cursor is used to access a selected storage section of the memory associated with the label access element identified by the cursor position. A method of storage label data in a label memory using this principle is also described.

Abstract: In a recording apparatus including a feed knob for manually feeding a recording sheet, a torque limiter is provided for preventing transmission of a torque more than a predetermined value from the feed knob to a recording sheet feeding portion.
Abstract: A thermal transfer recording apparatus wherein it comprises a power transmitting device for transmitting power from a driving motor of the apparatus to a platen roller of the apparatus, which device can change rotational speed of the platen roller to rotate the platen roller at high speed, thereby shortening a non-printing time such as required for introduction and ejection of a recording paper to reduce the total recording time of the thermal transfer recording apparatus. Further, the power transmitting device has a neutral position where the platen roller can be freely rotated, thereby easily restoring the recording apparatus to its normal conditions even when the recording paper and/or an inked ribbon is jammed.
Abstract: In a printing device, including a drive means such as a stepping means and a driven shaft for advancing a form, a form aligning mechanism comprises a generally cylindrical hollow knob mounted concentrically with the driven shaft by a mounting means which converts a force of sufficient magnitude applied in almost any direction to the generally cylindrical hollow knob into a longitudinal displacement of the driven shaft so as to disengage the driven shaft from the drive means, thereby permitting fine adjustment of the vertical position of the form in the printing device.
