  • Patent number: 8289566
Abstract: A print or logo data generating system and method in which a width dimension of a printable medium is identified and original source data obtained. The processing further involves automatically resizing the source data to a predefined maximum width not greater than the width dimension of the printable medium prior to executing any user-requested changes, and displaying a first image representation of the original source data. Upon receipt of a user-requested change in the size of the original source data and a user-requested change in the number of colors of the original source data, the size change request is executed first.

  • Patent number: 6669384
Abstract: In a printing apparatus in which a sheet handling device for conducting plural kinds of post processing is connected to a subsequent stage of an image forming device, a plurality of sheet feeding apparatuses disposed in the sheet handling device have a sheet residual amount detecting sensor and a sheet exhaustion detecting sensor. When the sheet residual amount detecting sensor detects that the number of sheets in an inserter is smaller than a predetermined number, the image forming device transports a sheet after it is confirmed by the sheet exhaustion detecting sensor that a sheet remains in the inserter.

  • Patent number: 6669386
Abstract: A print engine (10) having a maximum physical sheet capacity (MAX_C), and being operable at an operational sheet capacity (OP_C) equal to or less than the maximum physical sheet capacity, includes a marking device (12) which applies marks to sheets of media supplied thereto and outputs the same. A feeding device (14) supplies the sheets to the marking device (12), and a finishing device (16) receives the sheets from the marking device (12). Also included is a user interface (18). The user interface (18) has an indicator (100) which communicates to an operator of the print engine (10): the maximum physical sheet capacity of the print engine (10); the operational sheet capacity at which the print engine (10) is currently operating; and, a measurement of actual sheets which are at least one of contained in or received in a support device of the print engine (10), wherein the support device is the feeding device (14) or the finishing device (16).

  • Patent number: 6422773
Abstract: A method of detecting the amount of remaining sheets of paper in a paper feeding cassette of a printing apparatus, wherein the printing apparatus receives a paper feeding cassette having a knock-up plate on which paper is placed, and which pivots as paper is removed therefrom, a pickup roller installed in the printing apparatus which elastically moves up and down within a predetermined range to contact the paper, the pickup roller being made to rotate in close contact with the paper to sequentially feed the paper into the printing apparatus, a lifting mechanism which lifts the knock-up plate step by step according to the consumption of paper, thereby placing the loaded paper against the pickup-roller, calculating a difference in the number of operations of the lifting mechanism for lifting the knock-up plate toward the pickup roller when a maximum number of sheets of paper is loaded into the paper feeding cassette and when only a single sheet of paper is placed in the paper feeding cassette, calculating an am

  • Patent number: 6412993
Abstract: A recyclable, one-time use print on demand, digital camera comprises an image sensor device for sensing an image. A processor processes the image sensed by the image sensor device. The camera includes a supply of print media on to which an image processed by the processor is printed. A printhead is provided for printing said sensed image on the print media. An indicator for indicating usage of the camera is arranged within a housing of the camera. A separating device separates a part of the print media on to which an image has been printed from a remainder of the supply of print media. The separating device acts on the indicator for changing the indication of usage as part of the operation of separating the part of the print media from the remainder of the supply of the print media.

  • Patent number: 6099181
Abstract: Disclosed is a printing control apparatus for controlling a printing process performed on recording media according to printing information input from a data processing apparatus via a particular communication medium, the recording media being fed one by one to a printing mechanism and ejected out of the main part of a printer. The apparatus has a variably setting unit for variably setting the resolution of the printing mechanism; a calculator for calculating the time required for the printing process on a recording medium until ejecting the recording medium out of the main part of the printer, depending on the resolution variably set by the variably setting unit; a time measurement mechanism for measuring an elapsed time; and a judgment unit for judging whether a recording medium has been ejected on the basis of the elapsed time measured by the time measurement mechanism and also on the basis of the time calculated by the calculator.
