Engageable With Feed Roller Patents (Class 401/218)
  • Patent number: 4422789
Abstract: A fluid applicator includes a fluid applicator roller engaged with a fluid dispersing roller. The fluid dispersing roller includes a pair of helical fluid dispersing troughs which receive fluid from a pump which is operated by a control located on a handle of the fluid applicator.

  • Patent number: 4347684
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided primarily for the application of liquid contact herbicides to plants. A liquid applicator roller is mounted for rotation about a generally horizontal axis and in operative communication with a reservoir of liquid herbicide. The applicator roller is mounted above ground and in position for the peripheral surface thereof to be brought into contact with plants. The applicator roller is moved in the direction generally perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the roller, and powered rotation thereof is effected so that it rotates into contact with plants and continuously transfers liquid from the surface thereof onto the plants, the surface being continuously replenished with liquid from the reservoir. The housing mounting the roller is readily adaptable to mount a hand pushed or pulled unit, or to be mounted on a tractor tool bar. A drive wheel can communicate with a raised surface portion of the liquid applicator roller for effecting rotation thereof.

  • Patent number: 4346531
Abstract: An apparatus for transferring liquid onto the surface of a roller for ultimate transfer onto plants, and a method of constructing a storage tank component of the apparatus. A sponge is disposed in a housing adjacent a roller so that the sponge extends outwardly from the housing into contact with the roller periphery. Liquid is dripped onto the sponge, and excess liquid drains through openings in the bottom of the housing into the storage tank. The storage tank is formed by two plastic pipes bent at a middle portion with an opening between them at the apex of the bend of the top pipe. The top pipe is cut-off to provide an open top complimentary to the sponge housing bottom. Liquid from the tank is recirculated back to the pipe dripping liquid onto the sponge.

  • Patent number: 4268184
Abstract: A hand propelled coating device includes a coating product tray reservoir, a feed roller engaging an applicator roller rotatable by frictional drive imparted thereto when the applicator roller is rolled over a surface being coated, and an additional drive wheel with a traction band that is outboard and offset from the tray reservoir and the applicator roller as it coats a desired surface. The additional drive wheel also includes a quick-disconnect arrangement from the driver applicator roller shaft to avoid any wheel surface contact when desired, whereby no wheel marks on the finished surface will be made, it being important to have the additional traction wheel rim out of surface area engagement after the surface is covered with a finished coating.

  • Patent number: 4222678
Abstract: A pressure fed roller type fluid applicator is disclosed which comprises a frame having a handle and spaced means for supporting thereon in free rolling relation an applicator roller together with a fluid feeder member in the form of an elongate tube of small diameter mounted adjacent the exterior surface of the applicator roller and having a perforated wall so as to discharge liquid onto the exterior surface of the roller, the fluid being supplied through conduit forming means extending from a fluid supply source through the handle and connected to the feeder tube, with a conveniently positioned, manually operable, fluid control valve in the supply line.

  • Patent number: 4029011
Abstract: A device for applying multi-color designs to wall surfaces or other areas is disclosed. A hand-held paint applying device is utilized in rolling contact with the area to be decorated. The applying device includes a design carrying roller in peripheral contact with an inking roller. The inking roller surface is divided into discrete areas each containing a different color ink (or paint). The application of ink to the various discrete areas on the inking roller is accomplished by means of a color pad (or tray) having its interior divided into corresponding discrete areas to enable the ink roller to be rolled thereover, whereby each different area on the ink roller will consistantly be inked with a predetermined color ink (or paint) contained in the corresponding discrete area in the ink pad.

  • Patent number: 4015907
Abstract: A fluid applicator for applying fluid to a surface has a reservoir for fluid. An outlet from the reservoir leads to a roller assembly comprising at least two rollers which are arranged to roll over the surface to be marked so as to apply fluid from the reservoir to the surface in a single line. The roller assembly is removably mounted between side frame members and the surface of each roller is framed by a peripheral sleeve of an absorbent material. The sleeve can then be removed from the applicator for renewal or cleaning.

  • Patent number: 4012152
Abstract: A paint applicator having a handle, comprising a housing, and a paint transfer roller rotatably mounted in the housing. A paint container has its interior communicating with the interior of the housing by way of an aperture, and a paint applicator roller is rotatably mounted at the outlet of the housing so as to be in rolling engagement with the paint transfer roller, the paint container being laterally disposed with respect to the handle, and the aperture opening into the housing at a region remote from the region of rolling engagement between the two rollers.
