Abstract: The dispenser for lip-salve or similar ointment includes a tube, an elevator axially movable within the tube for expelling the ointment, and a screw rotatable within the cylinder and interacting with the elevator for moving the elevator within the tube. The internal threads on the elevator interact with the external threads on the screw when the screw is rotated. The elevator is generally cup-shaped, and is arranged to prevent relative rotation between the elevator and the tube. A knob is integral with the screw and external of the tube, and a groove in the knob and a collar in the tube permit relative rotation of the knob and screw with the tube but prevents relative axial movement between the tube and the screw. At least one inclined plane is on the bottom of the cup-shaped elevator and interacts with at least one inclined plane on the knob, within the tube, whereby when turning the knob, the inclined planes on the knob forceably push the inclined planes on the elevator axially within the tube.

Abstract: A stick-shaped material propelling container is comprised of a tubular body provided with a spiral groove in the inside thereof, a guide sleeve inserted into the tubular body that is not movable in an axial direction, but rotatable relative to the tubular body, and which is provided with guide grooves extending in the axial direction. A holder for holding stick-shaped material, is provided with projections to engage the spiral groove, so that a stick-shaped material held in the holder can be selectively extended from or retracted into the stick-shaped material propelling container. The stick-shaped material propelling container further includes a slit formed in the axial direction through a side wall portion of the holder where there are no projections.

Abstract: There is provided a device for dispensing a semi-solid or highly viscous product, such as a cosmetic product or pomade, which tends to vaporize and shrink with the passage of time. The device includes a support member to prevent the product from moving axially, radially or otherwise undesirably within the support member. The inner wall of the support member includes a plurality of radially curved and inwardly extending ribs that support the product therein without fracturing the product when it is inserted into the support member. The ribs support the product to prevent the product from moving axially and orbitally with respect to the support member.

Abstract: A refill cartridge for a stick product dispenser, for stick products including adhesive sticks, lipsticks, release agent sticks, shaving soap sticks, coloring sticks, and so forth, is provided by molding the stick product material to have a shape substantially the same as the internal shape of the associated dispenser casing or holder, and to fill the free internal volume of the holder. When the stick product originally within the dispenser is used, the refill cartridge is partially inserted into an open end of the empty dispenser holder, and the cartridge is either pushed or drawn into the dispenser, for refilling the same with the desired stick product, and permitting nonconsumable portions of the stick product dispenser to be repeatedly reused via such refilling.

The spiral shaft has a spiral groove on the circumference of spiral shaft and an integral guide portion at a rear portion of the spiral shaft. The guide portion engages an inside portion of the first tubular body so that the guide portion is unturnable, but is movable in the axial direction relative to the first tubular body. A holder for holding a stick-shaped material is provided at a front portion of the spiral shaft. A second tubular body is turnably mounted on the first tubular body. The second tubular body has a projection on the inside of a rear portion of second tubular body. The spiral shaft and the holder are inserted into the second tubular body so as to be able to slide in the second tubular body with the projection engaging the spiral groove. At least one slit is formed around the projection on the second tubular body or in an end portion of the spiral shaft.

Abstract: The present invention relates to improved product dispensers for various products, including solids, gels, semi-solids, and other substantially solid products. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the dispenser is in the form of an improved twist-up type dispenser with an application/distribution surface in the form of a mesh applicator head for covering the exposed end of a solid stick of product. The dispenser includes a force-limiting mechanism to limit the force exerted by the product on the mesh applicator head during pre-loading to prevent extrusion of the product. The dispenser further includes a force-maintaining mechanism to maintain the surface of the product in continuous intimate contact with the mesh applicator head during the application process. The surface of the product exposed via the apertures is sheared off in conventional fashion, and the mesh provides for a more even distribution of the product than conventional solid stick-type dispensers.

Abstract: A cosmetic pencil for dispensing a soft cosmetic mass. A lower barrel holds an elongated push rod which has external threads which move outwardly of the lower barrel when it is turned with respect to a hollow sheath. The cosmetic mass is held in the hollow sheath and two flexible arms at the base of the hollow sheath contact the external threads on the push rod. In this way the push rod may be inserted radially between the flexible arms and need not be threaded in from the bottom of the flexible arms.

Abstract: A dispensing packing in particular for a stick-shaped cosmetic pasty product, comprising a hollow body, a product-carrying piston axially movable but held against rotation in the hollow body, a screw for the axial displacement of the piston and a knurled member for rotating the screw, the hollow body exhibiting a non-circular for example oval cross-section, the means for rotating the knurled member comprising an endless tape mounted on the lower end of the body and displaceable in the peripheral direction thereof and comprising on its inner surface projecting elements co-operating with the driving elements on the outer surface of the knurled member to rotate the latter upon the displacement of the tape whereas the hollow body comprises at the level of the driving tape openings permitting the engagement of the complementary driving elements of the knurled member and of the tape.

Abstract: A dispensing packing for stick-shaped pasty products which is made from synthetic material and includes a hollow body inside of which the pasty stick is guided in the longitudinal direction, a device for displacing the stick formed of a sliding piston to which the stick is connected and of a screw for displacing the piston, a drive cap for rotating the screw mounted at one end of the body opposite to the closure cap of this body. The body has on the one hand an internal jacket defining both longitudinal ends of the body and made from a resiliently deformable material compatible with the pasty product as well as an external case partially surrounding the jacket and assembled to the latter. The packing is intended for the conditioning of sanitary or cosmetic products such as deodorants or lipsticks.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cosmetic pencil with a pencil base (1) and a replaceable part (2). The pencil base (1) comprises a tube (10), a spindle (7) with a tip and a spring (9) which is arranged on the spindle (7) and the tube (10) such that the spindle (7) is pressed or pulled into the tube (10). The replaceable part (2) has an essentially annular cosmetic guide (5) and a cosmetic holder (4), at the one end of which a bar-shaped cosmetic (3) can be attached and which can be shifted axially in the cosmetic guide (5). The pencil base (1) and the replaceable part (2) can be coupled such that they can be rotated in opposite directions, wherein the cosmetic holder (4) can be shifted away from the tip of the spindle (7). Abstract: A cosmetic pencil for dispensing a soft cosmetic mass having a push rod with an extended head. The cosmetic pencil has a barrel and a hollow sheath is rotatingly held by the barrel. A threaded push rod is keyed so that it turns with the barrel and the sheath has threads near the base of its inner end and as the sheath and barrel are turned with respect to each other the push rod moves outwardly out of the barrel and pushes the cosmetic mass out of the sheath. The head on the threaded push rod is enlarged and may be inserted downstream of the threaded portion of the sheath by a slot and a half thread which permits the widened portion of the push rod to be snapped in front of the threads so that it does not interfere with the threads. The threaded push rod may also have a separate piston snapped thereon. Also the sheath is provided with one way pawls which snap in and out of the grooves on the inside surface of the barrel indicating that the sheath and barrel are being turned with respect to one another.

Further sealing is provided between the hub/threaded shaft interface when the elevator is in its lowermost position. The elevator has a reservoir to receive molten product during the fill process.

Abstract: A cosmetic pencil for dispensing a soft cosmetic mass. The cosmetic pencil has a hollow barrel which has an elongated push rod within it. A hollow sheath moves downwardly into the barrel. The push rod is grooved and the sheath has at least one tab which moves in and out of the push rod to provide a click or tactile feel as the cosmetic mass is dispensed. A sleeve within the sheath permits the cosmetic mass to be retracted into the sheath.

Abstract: An applicator device comprises a front portion and a gripping portion which are rotatable relative to each other to displace a stick of spreadable material axially by means of a screwthreaded spindle. At its rear part which is towards the gripping portion the front portion has a coupling part for non-rotatable connection to a nut member disposed in the gripping portion. The nut member has radially elastically resilient claw portions which can be brought into engagement with the screwthread of the screwthreaded spindle by the coupling part of the front portion bearing against the claws. The claw portions are disengaged from the screwthreaded spindle when the front portion is removed from the gripping portion.

A second spring is disposed in the gripping portion to urge the screwthreaded spindle rearwardly therein.

The support member is movable for adjusting the amount of the stick product which is exposed for use through the barrel opening. An applicator surface is provided about the periphery of the opening of the barrel for application and rubbing in of a visible amount of product. The package, including the applicator surface, allows the consumer to rub the product in while avoiding contacting the underarm with the relatively narrow edge of the barrel. The quantity of product being applied can also be accurately controlled using the package.

The cartridge holds the product in a tubular body which preferably has a non-circular cross-section. A push plate is disposed in the bottom of the cartridge and the top of the cartridge preferably has a downwardly extending annular collar on its exterior. The package has a telescoping elevator system disposed within it which includes a platform which abuts against the push plate and an internally threaded neck below the platform. The internally threaded neck receives the threaded shaft in threaded telescoping relation.

Abstract: An improved applicator for soft materials includes a cartridge section and a relatively rotatable body section, the soft material being contained within the cartridge section and a plunger being provided to advance the soft material. The improvement resides in providing an assembly within the applicator body to prevent the inadvertent separation of the cartridge section from the body section. In a preferred embodiment, this assembly comprises a clutch means between the rotatable body section and the plunger whereby rotation of the body is transmitted to the plunger to advance and retract the plunger and associated soft material, the clutch means being designed so as to disengage before the plunger is retracted to the point at which it would forcibly separate the cartridge from the body.

The cover defines an annular housing fitting over a lip of the body, and formed from an inner rib defined by a tapered inner wall of the cover. The body contains an apertured piston and has a bottom defining an open sheath for introduction in liquid form of a waxy material through the apertured piston so as to be moulded as a cake. The open sheath is closed by a driving member for the piston.

Abstract: A storage container and applicator for sports wax is construed using an ergonomically molded hollow case with a plunger for forcing wax from the case. A cap is attachable to the case so that the contaminants will be kept from the wax, and wax kept from clothing or other sensitive surfaces. The container has a beveled outlet with a soft rubber bumper ring which is designed to safely and economically facilitate wax application while the user maintains a natural and comfortable hand position. A series of wax anchors keeps the wax in close contact with the movable plunger for forcing wax out of, or into the tube.

The holding tube also has a cam surface, and a spring member and gripping disk surround a push rod which extends into the center portion of the sheath which holds the soft cosmetic mass. Turning the holding tube forces the sheath inwardly, and the gripping disk holds the push rod steady with respect to the lower barrel and, thus, a small amount of cosmetic mass is moved upwardly by the movement of the sheath with respect to the push rod.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a dispenser of the propel/repel type, typically used for solid stick deodorants. The dispenser includes a container, a piston mounted on a threaded rod, and an actuating wheel to rotate the rod and either advance the piston toward a product outlet or retracted it away from the outlet. Filling with molten deodorant material can be effected either through the top (i.e., the product outlet) or the bottom of the dispenser. When top-filling, the container is filled through the product outlet, while the piston is fully retracted. Alternatively, the container can be bottom-filled with a cover over the product outlet simply by advancing the piston slightly toward the product outlet, injecting molten deodorant material through openings in the piston and container, and fully retracting the piston to close the filling openings. Once filled by either technique, the dispenser contents are allowed to cool and solidify.

The solid composition can be anchored to the end of the elongated tube such as by keying of the solid composition in a plurality of holes formed in the said end of the tube.

Abstract: A dispenser for stick type products such as cosmetics and the like which tend to shrink with age includes a novel cup or godet to prevent the stick from moving axially out of the cup. The interior wall of the cup includes a plurality of spaced axially disposed and radially inwardly projecting ribs of dove-tail cross-section. These ribs bite into the stick and function as dove-tail locks to prevent the outer surface of the stick from moving axially and rotationally with respect to the cup, even if stick shrinkage takes place. A screw type dispenser is also described as typical of the types of dispenser with which the cup may be used.

An annular ballast weight is fitted around the spigot and is held in place on it by the bottom portion; the ballast weight may have claws on its inside to engage the spigot, which can be of tapering form and has latching members to hold it in the opening.
