Patent number: 5727891Abstract: The dispenser for lip-salve or similar ointment includes a tube, an elevator axially movable within the tube for expelling the ointment, and a screw rotatable within the cylinder and interacting with the elevator for moving the elevator within the tube. The internal threads on the elevator interact with the external threads on the screw when the screw is rotated. The elevator is generally cup-shaped, and is arranged to prevent relative rotation between the elevator and the tube. A knob is integral with the screw and external of the tube, and a groove in the knob and a collar in the tube permit relative rotation of the knob and screw with the tube but prevents relative axial movement between the tube and the screw. At least one inclined plane is on the bottom of the cup-shaped elevator and interacts with at least one inclined plane on the knob, within the tube, whereby when turning the knob, the inclined planes on the knob forceably push the inclined planes on the elevator axially within the tube.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 1996Date of Patent: March 17, 1998Assignee: Federal Package Network, Inc.Inventor: Frank J. The rod (5) is driven in rotation incrementally via a pushbutton (8). The support (7) of the mechanism and of the nut (9) is movable with respect to the reservoir (1) by means of a thread. The nut (9) which cooperates with the rod (5) is slit along a diametrical plane, to allow the re-pressing of the rod when the half-nuts are capable of spreading apart. The reservoir includes a frustoconical surface 1c, which assures the pinching of the half-screws when the mechanism is put into place at the base of the full reservoir.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 1989Date of Patent: September 4, 1990Assignee: L'OrealInventor: Jean-Louis Gueret

Patent number: 4921366Abstract: A container for a cosmetic preparation such as mascara, lip gloss, etc., including a tubular inner plastic container and an outer metal shell which substantially encloses, and is substantially immovably fixed to, the inner container. The metal shell can serve to inhibit escape of vapor from the cosmetic solvent through the container wall. For improved integrity of the container, the inner surface of the metal shell can be formed with a set of circumferentially spaced, axially extending ribs which bite into the plastic of the inner container, when the container is assembled by pushing the shell onto the inner container, to form grooves in which the ribs engage tightly. An aperture can be formed in the outer shell for displaying to the user the color of the contained cosmetic preparation.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 1989Date of Patent: May 1, 1990Assignee: Henlopen Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventor: Edward T. Patent number: 4915528Abstract: The present invention relates to a dispenser of the propel/repel type, typically used for solid stick deodorants. The dispenser includes a container, a piston mounted on a threaded rod, and an actuating wheel to rotate the rod and either advance the piston toward a product outlet or retracted it away from the outlet. Filling with molten deodorant material can be effected either through the top (i.e., the product outlet) or the bottom of the dispenser. When top-filling, the container is filled through the product outlet, while the piston is fully retracted. Alternatively, the container can be bottom-filled with a cover over the product outlet simply by advancing the piston slightly toward the product outlet, injecting molten deodorant material through openings in the piston and container, and fully retracting the piston to close the filling openings. Once filled by either technique, the dispenser contents are allowed to cool and solidify.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1989Date of Patent: April 10, 1990Assignee: Risdon CorporationInventor: Richard H. Patent number: 4884912Abstract: An applicator for lipstick comprises means for fastening (a) the base member of the inner tubular casing of the assembly forming the displacement actuating assembly, to (b) the base of an outer case to be held by the operator, so that the base member and base execute conjoint rotation. The fastening means comprise a jacket arranged between the inner tubular casing and the base.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1986Date of Patent: December 5, 1989Assignee: L'OrealInventor: Jean-Louis H. Patent number: 4882874Abstract: An applicator for applying a pesticide such as a herbicide with a solid carrier is disclosed. The applicator comprises an elongated tube with a telescopic sleeve having a closure cap at one end for controlling the exposure of a pesticide-solid carrier composition such as a herbicide-wax composition anchored to and projecting from the said end of the elongated tube. The solid composition can be anchored to the end of the elongated tube such as by keying of the solid composition in a plurality of holes formed in the said end of the tube.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 1988Date of Patent: November 28, 1989Inventors: Peter O. Patent number: 4820070Abstract: A dispenser for stick type products such as cosmetics and the like which tend to shrink with age includes a novel cup or godet to prevent the stick from moving axially out of the cup. The interior wall of the cup includes a plurality of spaced axially disposed and radially inwardly projecting ribs of dove-tail cross-section. These ribs bite into the stick and function as dove-tail locks to prevent the outer surface of the stick from moving axially and rotationally with respect to the cup, even if stick shrinkage takes place. A screw type dispenser is also described as typical of the types of dispenser with which the cup may be used.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1984Date of Patent: April 11, 1989Assignee: Spatz LaboratoriesInventor: Walter Spatz

Patent number: 4750882Abstract: On the top of a mould above each of several cavities for moulding sticks of lipstick, is disposed a first tubular element of a cup comprising an external device for catch-engagement with a second tubular element of the cup, which second tubular element is intended to cooperate with the rest of the case, namely a shell with its internal liner and sleeve. The composition of the lipstick is cast through the first tubular element portion to fill the cavity and at least partly fill the internal space of the first tubular element. After solidification, the case is brought above each cavity to mount the second tubular element in the upper portion of the case until the second tubular element is catch-engaged on the first tubular element. The unit thus formed is extracted from the mould by upward translation and the lipstick thus cast is retracted into its case.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 1987Date of Patent: June 14, 1988Assignee: L'OrealInventor: Herve Bouix
