Abstract: The cosmetic container is comprised of three primary parts. These are a barrel, an elevator, and a cap. The elevator has a cosmetic support surface, anchoring recesses and a well. The barrel is open at the top and usually closed at the bottom, with an adjustment recess in a surface. The well of the elevator slideably fits into the adjustment recess, and preferably conforms to the peripheral shape of the barrel. The well functions as a device to raise the elevator upwardly to dispense product and as a reservoir for the product when it is in a liquid form during the filling of the barrel above the elevator. The well holds the amount of product that is needed for the space between about the top of the barrel and a disposable cover that is used to shape the top of the cosmetic. After the barrel is filled and the disposable cover and cap put in place, the container is inverted with the liquid product flowing from the elevator well to the space between about the top of the barrel and the disposable cover.

Abstract: A stick holder cup (3) intended to be slidably mounted in a case (1) includes a closed transverse bottom (31) for supporting a stick of solid product liable to crumble. A cylindrical sidewall (32) of the cup is joined to this bottom, and the cup is moved axially by drive (33). The cylindrical sidewall has at least one axial microgroove (34) for creating an air escape route when the stick of the product is being positioned in the cup.

Abstract: A case for the packaging of a product in the form of a solid or semi-solid block includes: a bottom portion defining a receptacle for the solid block, structure or element penetrating into the solid block so as to immobilize the solid block inside the receptacle, a cap removably placed on one surface of the product so as to retain the block in the receptacle, and a lid removably fitted onto the bottom portion so as selectively to open/close the case. This case furthermore includes structure for coupling the lid and the cap so that opening the case by rotating the lid with respect to the bottom portion causes the cap to rotate through a given angle with respect to the product, thus inducing a shearing effect between the internal surface of the cap and the surface of the product.

Abstract: A protective outer shell for a cosmetic container, such as a lipstick container, having a tubular shell cover and a tubular shell base wherein the shell cover is positively retained on the shell base. The shell cover includes at least one radially inwardly extending rib extending along an inner surface of the cover. The rib cooperates with a locking member extending radially outward from the shell base so that the shell cover is moveable between a locked and unlocked position. In the locked position, rotational and axial movement of the shell cover relative to the shell base is limited to prevent accidental removal of the cover from the base.

Abstract: A lipstick container cover has a cup-shaped insert which sealingly telescopes over a sealed base assembly. The cover insert has an inward peripheral rib which makes line sealing contact with the sleeve. A bump formed on the sleeve raises the rib to vent pressure caused either by pushing the cover on the lipstick container or pressure build-up due to vaporizing solvent after the cover is fully installed. Venting the pressure in the container avoids the lifting off of the cover after installation. Otherwise such lifting unseals the container.

Abstract: The invention is associated with a refill cartridge for a stick which applies product by rubbing onto a surface, comprising a tube-like element, which is designed to be tightly closed at both ends and of which one end is designed to fit tightly onto a tube element of the stick; a longitudinally displaceable plunger with a screwthreaded bore--onto which a screwthreaded spindle of the adhesive stick projecting from the tube element is designed to be screwed--being non-rotatably guided in the tube-like element; and the tube-like element being filled with a product which bears against the plunger at one end and, the product in an extension of the screwthreaded bore, is formed throughout with a bore in which the screwthreaded spindle engages when the refill cartridge is fitted onto the stick.

A spacer is mounted in an inner wall of a mediate portion of the body for closing it, thereby defining an upper chamber and a lower chamber communicating with the first sound emitting nozzle. A first sound diffusing nozzle is defined through an outer wall of the lower end portion of the body and communicates between the lower chamber and the first sound emitting nozzle. A first sound guiding wedge is mounted in an inner wall of the lower end portion of the body and is located diametrically opposite to the first sound diffusing nozzle. By such an arrangement, the writing utensil structure can function as a whistle.

Abstract: A solid deodorant sampler package and method of making wherein the package includes a plastic body having an open upper end, an open lower end, an integral upwardly and outwardly curved base wall in the form of a grid, and a peripheral wall. The grid is positioned between the upper and lower edges of the peripheral wall, and supports a solid deodorant. A plastic cover includes a base wall and a peripheral skirt telescoped over the peripheral wall of the body. The solid deodorant substantially fills the space between the base wall of the plastic cover and the base wall of the plastic body.

A passage is defined in the upper end portion of the housing and extends through the neck. A cap is mounted on the upper end portion of the housing and includes an inner wall having a first recess defined in a lower portion thereof for receiving the neck, a second recess defined in an intermediate portion thereof for receiving each of the two lugs, and a third recess defined in an upper portion thereof and aligning with the passage. A writing utensil is received in the passage and has an upper end with a tip extending upwardly and received in the third recess.

Abstract: A writing utensil structure includes an upper body having an upper end portion with a first neck having two first lugs, and a lower end portion with a second neck having two second lugs. A cap has an inner wall defining a first recess for receiving the first neck, and a second recess for receiving the two first lugs. Abstract: A marking pen design with a cap attached to the barrel of the pen wherein the cap is securable with respect to a reduced diameter end piece surrounding a marking tip and is removable therefrom while maintaining attachment with respect to the barrel to be detachable secured into a tubular bore extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the marking pen. The longitudinal bore is preferably tubular in shade and the cap is preferably of a tapered tubular shape to facilitate wedging interconnection therebetween. The pen cap further includes an inner and outer cap means with venting means therebetween wherein the inner cap means engages the reduced diameter flange for preventing drying of the marking tip.

The stick-shaped piece drive container is comprised of an outer cylinder and a screw shaft having a helical groove provided on a circumference thereof and a non-rotatable connecting portion provided on a front end thereof, inserted in the outer cylinder movable in an axial direction thereof. An inner cylinder has a projection provided on a rear inside thereof that fits the helical groove, and is immovably mounted in the outer cylinder but is rotatable in an axial direction thereof to extend out of it forwardly. A stick-shaped piece holder is detachably coupled with the connecting portion of the screw shaft and slidably provided in the inner cylinder for holding a stick-shaped piece.

Abstract: An instrument display cap, which is capable of interchanging a display member without modifying the structure of the cap, is provided. The instrument display cap includes a tubular tapered body with a transparent disk, pocket and centering member arrangement pivotally positioned in the top open end of the tubular tapered body. A retaining ring, with a spring clip connected thereto, retains the transparent disk, pocket and centering member in place while permitting it to pivot. The transparent disk, pocket and centering member arrangement pivots open to permit the replacement of a display member, such as a photo, or the like, to be easily installed within the pocket. The pivoting arrangement is pivoted closed to display the display member at the top portion of the instrument display cap.

Abstract: A sealed lipstick dispenser assembly has a base, a sleeve mounted within the base containing a lipstick pomade, and a cover mounted over the base and receiving a portion of the sleeve and pomade within a hollow interior. A bellows-like sealing member defines a sealing surface on one end, and a plurality of infolded or pleated portions to permit axial extension and retraction of the sealing surface. The sealing member is mounted on the base of the cover within the hollow interior, with the sealing surface on its free end. Upon closure of the cover on the base, the sealing surface is pressed into engagement with a lip of the sleeve due to the resilient nature of the infolded portions of the sealing member to form a fluid-tight seal, and thereby seal the lipstick pomade within the sleeve.

Abstract: A dispensing packing in particular for a stick-shaped cosmetic pasty product, comprising a hollow body, a product-carrying piston axially movable but held against rotation in the hollow body, a screw for the axial displacement of the piston and a knurled member for rotating the screw, the hollow body exhibiting a non-circular for example oval cross-section, the means for rotating the knurled member comprising an endless tape mounted on the lower end of the body and displaceable in the peripheral direction thereof and comprising on its inner surface projecting elements co-operating with the driving elements on the outer surface of the knurled member to rotate the latter upon the displacement of the tape whereas the hollow body comprises at the level of the driving tape openings permitting the engagement of the complementary driving elements of the knurled member and of the tape.

Abstract: Disclosed is a package for a solid stick product (e.g., antiperspirant or deodorant product), wherein the product is completely exposed on a retaining member so as not to require an elevating mechanism. The package has three components: a cover, the retaining member and a handle. The handle is removably connected to the retaining member, so that upon using up the product on the retaining member the handle can be removed and attached to another retaining member filled with product (which is, e.g., sold as a refill assembly). Molten product is filled through a fill hole in the retaining member into a cavity defined between the retaining member and cover; the retaining member has bosses for anchoring the product on the retaining member, and has vent channels extending between the bosses and the fill hole to displace trapped air from the bosses when filling the cavity.

Abstract: A lipstick including a spiral tube having a spiral groove formed in its inner surface, a slotted sleeve with at least one axial slot and extending into the spiral tube for relative rotation thereto for enabling displacement in opposite directions of a case with a waxstick insertable into the sleeve and the tube and having a boss movable through the slot and engaging in the spiral groove upon insertion. The case with the waxstick, together with the stick cap, are formed as a single unit before being inserted into the lipstick mechanics.

Abstract: The invention comprises a transparent, molded undercap which fits over the open end of a lipstick type case from which a lipstick or other similar waxy mass is propelled and which engages the shoulder of the case normally engaged by the lipstick cap when it is in place. The undercap is sized to fit snuggly within the lipstick cap yet permit the cap to be removed while the undercap remains in place over the lipstick. Preferably, the open end of the undercap has a size and shape which is substantially identical to that of the cap so as to form an even closure with the lipstick case whereby a tamper indicating or resistant means, such as an adhesive tape or a shrink band, may be applied across the juncture between the undercap and the case to secure the undercap in place and seal the lipstick. In this manner, the lipstick cap may be removed from the lipstick case to view the lipstick while the undercap remains in place to protect the lipstick.

Abstract: Disclosed is an improved writing instrument having a slidably and pivotably disposed cap for covering the writing tip. The improved cap retaining feature improves the manageability of the instrument such that the cap can be removed and lodged into its open position by a continuous motion of the hand which is holding the instrument.

Both ends of the package are open; and a slide member is located within the main body portion. The bottom end of the main body portion of the package has an inwardly turned flange to prevent the movement of the slide member outwardly from the main body portion through the bottom end. The solid crystal deodorant is mounted on the slide member, and is configured to freely move from the bottom end of the main body portion outwardly through the upper end. Drain holes are placed through the slide member to permit fluid, such as water, to pass downwardly from the sides of the crystal deodorant and out through the holes when the package is stored in an upright position. A chamber in the slide member is filled with a sponge-like material for receiving fluid which passes from the crystal deodorant through the holes in the slide member.

Abstract: A lipstick article is provided which houses a lipstick with a water content of from 0.5 to 30% by weight. The lipstick is packaged in a casing including a base, an elongated cylindrical inner body received in the base and containing the lipstick, a device for elevating-retracting the lipstick from within the inner body, a hollow elongated cap fitting over the inner body, and a hollow elongated plug sleeve inserted within the cap and formed of a material more flexible than a material forming the cap, the plug sleeve sealingly contacting an outer wall of the inner body to prevent evaporation of water from the lipstick.

The product is secured within the package in a fixed position throughout its use. The package has a base for holding the product. The base comprises an enclosed body, a closed bottom and an open top. The base further includes a stalk axially oriented within it. The stalk defines a trough along the inside perimeter of the base between the stalk and the body. Lastly, the package has a cap for sealing the open top of the base when the package is not in use.

Abstract: A cosmetic applier comprises a container assembly including a tubular sleeve, a cup holder reciprocable inside the sleeve and a cam for raising and retracting the cup holder. A pomade cup assembly includes a cup carrying pomade and an inverted cup-shaped transparent shroud about the pomade and connected to the top of the cup, the shroud having a diameter at least as great as the inner diamater of the sleeve. Interfitting fastener parts are on the cup and holder. In the preferred version, the fastener is of the permanently locking type. The selected pomade cup may be snapped into the holder and the holder and cup retracted by turning the cam so that the shroud, engaging the sleeve and spread by it, pops off the cup and is freed for easy disposal.

The first traveling body is inserted in the second traveling body and inserted in the base sleeve. First and second spiral threaded grooves are formed on circumferences of the first and second traveling bodies into which first and second raised portions engage. First and second rotation prevention means regulate the direction of rotation of the first rotary guide sleeve provided on the first and second traveling bodies. The first and second rotary guide sleeves are capped with first and second inner caps respectively detachably attached to outer caps.

A gripping portion, which is formed on the cylinder below the cap-fitting portion, has an outer peripheral surface provided with a number of annular slip-preventing grooves. A cap detachably fitted on the cap-fitting portion of the cylinder includes a clip extending axially to a point in the vicinity of the gripping portion. The clip has an engaging projection formed on an underside thereof for engaging one of the slip-preventing grooves of the gripping portion when the cap is attached. When the writing instrument is clipped to the fabric on the outer side of a shirt or jacket pocket, the engaging projection on the clip and the slip-preventing groove of the gripping portion on the cylinder of the tubular main body engage each other via the fabric clamped between them.

The closed end is provided with an inner surface (38, 138, 438) in intimate contact with the sample to provide the it with an external surface whose configuration matches that of the matrix's inner surface.

A driving mechanism is provided for to and fro translation of the product in order to extract and retract it. A mechanism comprising a support base for the product is movably mounted in the body and is provided with an extension that extends opposite to the product and is adapted to be engaged with an element affixed to a cursor by a connection tab that passes through the body. The cursor is arranged in a movable manner outside the body in such a way that activation of the cursor brings about an equivalent translational movement of the base and thus of the product.

Abstract: A storage container and applicator for sports wax is construed using an ergonomically molded hollow case with a plunger for forcing wax from the case. A cap is attachable to the case so that the contaminants will be kept from the wax, and wax kept from clothing or other sensitive surfaces. The container has a beveled outlet with a soft rubber bumper ring which is designed to safely and economically facilitate wax application while the user maintains a natural and comfortable hand position. A series of wax anchors keeps the wax in close contact with the movable plunger for forcing wax out of, or into the tube.

The body of the applicator has a chamber in which a charge of such soft material is positioned. A piston cooperable with the body acts directly on the charge to force it out the open front end of the chamber into a cap having an interior conical surface. The conical surface and the interior surface of the chamber are sufficiently smooth and non-sticking so that the charge of moldable material is freely slidable within the chamber and readily releasable from the conical surface.

A holder member is slidably mounted inside the hollow body for holding one end of the preparation while being moved along a line of travel either in a first or second direction within the hollow body to respectively extend and retract the preparation through an opening at one end of the hollow body. Means are also provided spaced along the line of travel for lockingly detaining the holder member at at least two stations spaced along the line of travel, the lockingly detaining means being releasable under operator control to permit the holder member to be moved from station to station, whereby the preparation can be lockingly retained at predetermined stations along the line of travel.

The interior wall of the cup includes a plurality of spaced axially disposed and radially inwardly projecting ribs of dove-tail cross-section. These ribs bite into the stick and function as dove-tail locks to prevent the outer surface of the stick from moving axially and rotationally with respect to the cup, even if stick shrinkage takes place. A screw type dispenser is also described as typical of the types of dispenser with which the cup may be used.

Abstract: A lipstick container having an attractive noncircular form includes a unique operating mechanism for reciprocating a cup member adapted to hold a mass of lipstick. The operating mechanism includes a friction ring which is fitted on the outer body member whereby a constant swivel torque is required to opereate the mechanism through the length of its stroke. The friction ring creates a smoothly operating, luxurious feeling mechanism, limits relative axial movement or "shuck" between the inner and outer body members, and eliminates the need for a bottom pair of lock extension slots.

Disposed in container (2) is a conventional follower piston (5), the dispensing opening (4) of container (2) being closed by a removable closure cap (11). For generating a vacuum between mass (3) and closure cap (11) there is provided a circumferential gasket (15) disposed between an outer wall portion (9) of container (2) and closure cap (11). For avoiding early wear of this circumferential gasket (15) and the resultant loss of its sealing properties, the invention provides that on removal of the closure cap (11) the circumferential gasket (15) is positively forced into sealing engagement with the outer wall portion (9) of the container (2) by a force generated by the removal of the closure cap and acting in the direction towards said outer wall portion.

Abstract: A flat flexible ballpoint pen is formed from two foil strips which are bonded together along their peripheries except for one end through which the writing cartridge is inserted. A case also formed from flexible strips in a similar manner can accommodate the body carrying the cartridge.
