    Abstract: In a first aspect there is disclosed a spike assembly (10) including a base (12) and a spike formation (14) operatively attached to the base (12). The spike formation (14) is adapted to hold a plurality of impaled sheets and includes an elongate spike (16) longitudinally extending between a base end (18) and an impale end (20). The base end (18) of the spike (16) is operatively adapted for attachment to the base (12). The spike assembly (12) further includes a (i) handle (26) operatively associated with the spike formation (14) and moveable relative to the spike formation to apply force to a sheet to be impaled on the spike formation, and (ii) a guide assembly (28) operatively adapted to guide movement of the handle (26) relative to the spike formation (14).

    Abstract: A system for binding books includes a flexible binding material in the form of a stud having top and bottom caps. The stud is inserted into signature staples that protrude from the body of the signature to form stud holes. The binding material can be any material that is extremely flexible, including silicone, metals, etc., as long as it allows the signatures to open in a lay-flat manner either at the signature interfaces or in the body of any signature. The flexible binding material can also be used to temporarily bind pre-punched pages of a book by inserting the flexible binding material into the pre-punched holes to facilitate lay-flat opening of the book.

    Abstract: The carbonless copy form of this invention reproduces information written or printed on both the front and back surfaces of an "original" page onto the two (front and back) surfaces of a "copy" page. In one embodiment, the form is formed of a single sheet of paper comprising a clear (uncoated) original page and a copy pages coated with carbonless CF treatment on both sides. A separate intermediate sheet, coated with carbonless CB treatment on at least one side is interposed between the folded and refolded original copy pages to effect reproduction of information entered on the front and back surfaces of the original page onto the back and front surfaces, respectively, of the copy page. In other embodiments, the original, copy and intermediate pages are formed from a single sheet of paper. The original page is clear, the copy page is CF-coated on both sides and the intermediate page is CB-coated on both sides.

    Abstract: A piercing clamp for sheets of paper and the like, it includes a piercing jaw containing a piercing pin, and a holding jaw, and is urged closed by a spring. It is self piercing. Once a sheet of paper is pierced within the clamp, it retains its position relative to the clamp whether the clamp is open or closed. A guard may also be included to guard the piercing pin. The piercing clamp has great utility in a hanging clipboard. By piercing divider sheets within the clamp, other sheets may be inserted between the dividers without being pierced, allowing the piercing clamp to be used as a flier.
